  • QuestionCan you try on the Eargo 6? I want to check the fit.

    Asked by Trish.

    • Answer Hello. Best Buy provides a 60-day trial period (with 100% refund option) to work closely with an Eargo licensed hearing professional to ensure fit, insertion, and removal meets your satisfaction and comfort. You cannot try Eargo hearing aids on at a Best Buy store. If you'd prefer trying Eargo 5 or 6 before making a purchase, you can call Eargo at 800-615-9000 and ask to speak with a sales associate. This Eargo associate can then send you a non-working sample kit to judge the fit.

  • QuestionAssuming 1 full charge per day, what is the expected battery lifetime? Is the battery user replaceable?

    Asked by Mesmurized.

    • Answer Due to the construction of the device, the rechargeable battery is not user replaceable. The battery life is approximately 3 years depending on use which is about the same life span as a custom made completely in-the-canal hearing aid purchased at a traditional clinic.

      Answered by Eargo Audiology

  • QuestionCan the battery be replaced by eargo

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer Eargo's hearing aids use a rechargeable battery and run approximately 3 years before beginning to lose the amount of time they hold a charge. The battery cannot be replaced due to the design. The Eargo 6 model comes with a 2 year warranty. Should one or both devices need service after the warranty period, the device(s) will be serviced for a fee then receive a one year warranty covering that service.

  • QuestionAre you able to connect via Bluetooth to your phone to answer and make phone calls via Bluetooth.

    Asked by Deskfan.

    • Answer Given the virtually invisible design of Eargo hearing aids, a Bluetooth receiver cannot be built into the hearing aids. The do not stream phone calls, TV, or audio direct to the hearing aids. Eargo does use a Bluetooth receiver in the the charging case to connect to the Eargo app for personalization of the hearing aids.

  • QuestionCan the purchase of Eargo 6 through Best Buy be claimed as a medical expense on our year end income tax return?

  • QuestionIs the Eargo 6 covered by the Federal Employee Health Benefit Program (the FEHBP)?? If so, how is the insurance payment arranged? Previous Eargo large ear buds would not fit in and Mediums felllout - had that been corrected? Details on insurance progr

    Asked by JoeT.

    • Answer Thank you for your question. Eargo is not processing any insurance claims for the FEHBP program or any insurance plan at this time. New Eargo products (Eargo 5 and Eargo 6) have a different body design (smaller and straighter) and new pedal tips which may fit your ears differently. My suggestion would to try them using Best Buy's 60-day trial period and see if they fit any better for you. You can always return them for a full refund if the fit isn't better. You can always reach out to Eargo at 800-615-9000 for additional questions.

  • QuestionAs the battery is not user replaceable how do I get a new battery? Can I send it in and you replace it? Is there a cost for this and if so what is it?

    Asked by Donna.

    • Answer Hi. As the battery begins to reach the end of it's life cycle (approximately 3 years), it will not just suddenly stop working. Instead, it will not hold the same length of charge as when it was new. Eargo does not replace the battery on any of its hearing aids under typical usage. Should any Eargo device model prove to be defective under warranty (including, but not limited to the battery), Eargo will honor the warranty and provide a working replacement. If any Eargo hearing device needs to be serviced outside of the warranty period, Eargo will evaluate the hearing aid and repair it for a fee.

  • QuestionWhat is the wire hanging out of these? Do they show when worn?

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer The wire allows you to place in your ear in the correct orientation and then allows you to remove the hearing aid from your ear. The filament is not visible since it lies in the inside of your ear.

  • QuestionCan I only Buy 1 hearing aid?? I only need 1 and not 2 of them.

    Asked by Bigrobb.

    • Answer Eargo hearing aids are only sold in pairs. It is important to note that while they are marked right and left, the devices are interchangeable between ears. Eargo has had many people with single sided hearing loss purchase the pair and use the the other device as a back-up. Buying a pair of Eargo devices is still less expensive in many instances than a single device purchased at an ENT office or retail hearing aid clinic. Please remember that Best Buy provides a 60-day trial period to test using Eargo in your unique listening environments.

  • QuestionHow well do they work when listening to music? Compared with Eargo Neo

    Asked by claire.

    • Answer Eargo 6 is a significant upgrade to Neo for form, fit, app personalization and sound fidelity. The Neo is several generations older technology. For specific listening situations such as music, a hearing aid users perception of performance (of any hearing aid, not just Eargo) is highly subjective. That being said, there are numerous professional musicians who use Eargo (Charlie Benante of Anthrax/Pantera, Bob Minner of the Tim McGraw Band, and others). Best Buy provides a 60-day trial period to evaluate your personal satisfaction of music listening, as well as, improved speech clarity. If Eargo 6 does not meet your expectations, especially after working with Eargo's hearing professional team, you are able to return for a full refund.

  • QuestionHow are these for concerts? I tried other devices and they were great for hearing the artist but when the applause happens, it was difficult to turn them down quickly using the app and the light of the phone not good during a dark performance. Advice?

    Asked by AntiChefFL.

    • Answer Hello. Eargo hearing devices are designed for mild to moderate hearing loss and have a unique open-fit design to allow sounds to pass into the ear canal naturally without being amplified. Because Eargos sit in the opening of the ear canal, they do require as much power because they are using the anatomy of the ear to amplify sound the way Mother Nature intended. Lastly, Eargo has gained quite a following amongst musicians because of their design being perceived as more natural. One of the headquarters is located in Nashville, TN where they have fit numerous musicians to gather anecdotal feedback. Lastly, with Best Buy's 60-day trial period with 100% refund you have nothing to lose by trying them, which will deliver the best experience for you.

  • QuestionDoes TotalTech Membership provide any extra benefits for the OTC Hearing devices such as the Eargo 6?

    Asked by Jamor.

    • Answer Total Tech membership does not provide any Hearing-specific benefits but members should keep an eye out for special discounts on Hearing Aids during the holidays. All customers are able to take advantage of a 60-day return policy on Hearing Aids, which is the same return period offered in the Total Tech program.

  • QuestionDo the Eargo 6 and/or Eargo 5 allow you to stream music or listen to a phone call directly through your hearing aids?

    Asked by ColdMama.

    • Answer Eargo hearing devices are too small to fit a Bluetooth receiver for streaming of music. Eargo does use a Bluetooth receiver in the charger which connects to the Eargo mobile app. This allows you to take a hearing screening and to personalize how you use your Eargo which then allows the charger to upload the settings into the hearing devices. Most of Eargo's clients find they do not need audio streaming when improving their overall hearing.

  • QuestionWhat is the fee for replacing the battery(s) after the warranty ends?

    Asked by Tom.

    • Answer Hi. Eargo's rechargeable batteries are not replaceable. The typical lifespan is 1,000 charges or approximately 3 years of use. The batteries do not simply stop working at the 1,000 charge period. Instead, they simply don't hold their expected 16 hours/day run time. By the 3 year mark, the vast majority of Eargo customers upgrade their devices to Eargo's most current model. The most common repair cause for all hearing aids, including Eargo, is ear wax and moisture affecting the microphone and speaker. That being said, the cost for any out-of-warranty Eargo repair is $295 per hearing aid. This fee does cover any defect of the rechargeable battery.

  • QuestionAre the aids only in black, not a flesh color? And if flesh color will be coming out soon?

    Asked by Mimi.

    • Answer Hello! Eargo hearing devices are designed only in black for a specific reason. When in place, the hearing aid is flush to the opening of the ear canal which has a black shadow. Whether a person's skin tone is light or dark, Eargos are virtually invisible when in place and the black color helps in the cosmetic fit. I hope this answers your question.

  • QuestionSince Eargo is completely in the ear, how do people with heavy, wet earwax use these? And how are they cleaned?

    Asked by CaroleSG.

    • Answer For people with excessive heavy wet earwax problems, Eargo may not be the best solution. That being said, Eargo has replaceable microphone covers and tips and Eargo 6 has a 2 year warranty. If you are truly interested in trying Eargo, we suggest calling Eargo at 800-615-9000 and ask to speak with a licensed hearing professional to help determine if Eargo is right for you. Through Best Buy you have a 60-day full money back refund if you find that Eargo hearing aids are simply not compatible with your ear canals and ear wax.

  • QuestionDo they work for severe hearing loss? I have moderate loss in my right ear and sever in my left.

    Asked by LP.

    • Answer They work pretty well for moderate hearing loss. I don’t believe they make any claims to be effective for severe hearing loss. In my opinion they are excellent for the price, compared to prescription- all things considered.
