A:AnswerShort answer is yes. We have this installed in this way -- see attached picture.
Make sure that the width of the cavity is no less than 22.5 inches (ours is 22.5 inches). When you open the door, it needs clearance to the left of the microwave.
I was initially concerned about heat buildup to the point where I installed a little exhaust fan at the back of the cavity (exhausts out the side of the cabinet). The fan turns on when the temperature at the back is >100 F. It's never turned on, so in hindsight I wouldn't have done this as it it is not necessary.
A:AnswerHi Tess- The microwave features Cooking Complete Reminder. The Cooking Complete Reminder is a beep that occurs once every minute after the normal cooking cycle has ended. It is designed to remind you when the cooking time has completed. Begins 1 minute after the 'Cooking Complete Signal' This is different from the 'Cooking Complete Signal' which is 4 beeps heard only once and directly at the end of the cooking cycle. To terminate 'cooking complete reminder', touch Clear/Off or open the door. This cannot be modified. Keep in touch! SUE@GEA
A:AnswerDon't buy an LG for that pseudo 10-year warranty. It's purely a marketing gimmick. Our supposed 10-year magnetron went out at 6.5 months, while the full warranty was still in effect. We've been without our microwave for weeks. They drag their feet, promise and then fail to contact you, etc. until most people give up. And if you persist in the protracted process, in the end you must go out and buy another microwave yourself, and hope they reimburse you. Oh, and good luck trying to understand the people on the other end of the phone. As for the 10-year joke, there are all kinds of charges built in to that "warranty" to make it as expensive to repair as it is to buy a new microwave. LG customer service, despite all of their attentive and sympathetic-looking comments on negative reviews, STINKS.
A:AnswerThe control panel is NOT adequately back-lit. I pointed this out in my review. Although the unit works as expected, I don't recommend it due to the back-light problem. I have to turn up the kitchen lights to see the labeling on buttons that i don't regularly use.
A:AnswerHi Lucy- This unit has a straight plug that will protrude from the outlet. Also, microwaves need adequate air clearance on each side, the rear and the top to function properly. This allows good circulation for the intake and discharge air vents. We recommend 3" of clearance on both sides and the top
and 1" clearance in the rear. Also, the front edge of the microwave (measured at door) should sit at least 3" or more back on the counter or shelf to avoid accidental tipping. A:AnswerI am experiencing the exact same issue with my GE microwave that was purchased from Best Buy . It’s been just 4 months and it stopped working all of a sudden . We had to replace it initially as it was making lot of noise while working . However the replacement also stopped working now !!!
A:AnswerHi Buggs, thanks for your question! The power cord on countertop models is on the top right side of the case in the rear, behind the control panel. We hope that this helps! Stay safe. -Michael
A:AnswerHello Gina - This is a great question and we are happy to help. Some television or radio interference is possible while using any microwave oven. It is similar to the interference caused by other small appliances and does not indicate a problem with the oven. The reason that some microwaves cause this and others do not has to do with manufacturing locations, types of controls and the shielding of the controls in the units. However, we have not had any feedback from our owners that this model causes interference. We hope this helps. Keep in touch! - John@GEA

A:AnswerHello Isaac - We appreciate your interest in the microwave JES1657BMTS and we are happy to help! Microwaves need adequate air clearance on each side, the rear and the top to function properly. This allows good circulation for the intake and discharge air vents. Countertop models require 3" of clearance on both sides and the top and 1" clearance in the rear. The front edge of the microwave (measured at door) should sit at least 3" or more back on the counter or shelf to avoid accidental tipping. These microwaves are intended for countertop use only. We do not recommend installing them in tight spaces, like a cabinet. We hope that this helps! Thanks very much for writing to us. Olga
