Hi - Thanks for viewing GE Model GTE16DTNRCC! Their is a small opening between the shelf front and bottom of shelf. It does not have a handle or additional storage space. Salad dressings can be stored in either of the two door shelves. We sorry for any confusion the photo has caused.
