QuestionWhat is the maximum amount of RAM that can be installed on this computer?

- Answer Another wrong answer from the HP team on this laptop! I never heard back, so I bought and installed and am currently running 64GB of RAM, not 32GB as the HP Tram just posted was the max. Also, the specs say it takes DDR5-5200MHz, but the two sricksbthat came with it are DDR5-5600MHz. HP Team needs to stop providing answers because they keep posting wrong answers to the questions. On another question they posted that this computer has only one M.2 slot when it in fact has two (which i posted photographic proof of).

QuestionHi, I'm interested in purchasing this laptop, and I was wondering if it's possible to upgrade the RAM by changing the original RAM in the slots. Specifically, I'm wondering if it is possible to change the original ram or not because they are soldered.

- Answer I upgraded mine to 64GB (2x32GB) with Crucial CT2K32G52C42S5. It took a few minutes for the first post with the new memory but has been running solid.

QuestionHow many PCIe slots are there? I'm interested in adding a 4TB PCIe Gen4 3D NAND NVMe M.2 SSD card. Would this work in this laptop, and is the slot for single sided SSDs?

- Answer Unreal that HP gave a wrong answer on this! I have the computer open. I just received it today and had planned to upgrade to a 4TB m.2 drive. When I opened it, lo and behold, there is a second slot for a second M.2 drive. I installed a second M.2 drive and it is working perfectly. As an aside, I also upgraded to 64GB RAM. Very easy to upgrade this machine yourself.

QuestionWill a bios update fix the USB-C port issue (not allowing charging while the laptop is in use)?

- Answer Not at this moment. I have updated to the latest BIOS and still a 100 W USB-C charger nor a Thunderbolt docking station will charge the laptop unless it is completely powered off.

QuestionWe have a 6 year old hp envy right now that my wife uses for her photography business and it's really slow and outdated. If I upgraded this to 64gb of memory would this last her another 4 to 6 years? She mainly uses Lightroom to do her editing.

- Answer This laptop will be fast enough without adding any more RAM. The CPU and SSD hard drive will affect the speed more than the RAM. 16GB of RAM is more than enough to run Lightroom. If you do end up adding more RAM, 32GB of RAM would be enough. 64GB of RAM is not necessary for Lightroom.

- Answer This model does not have a built-in Ethernet port. But you can use a USB Ethernet adaptor to add that port.

QuestionIt says there are two USB-A 's but one doesn't look like a USB - A. I'm talking about the one with the flip down cover... I want to be able to connect a keyboard and mouse. Is the flip down USB-A a normal USB-A? Thanks.

- Answer Thank you for the question. It appears that the port may be obscured in one of the pictures in the media scroll. The 16-h1023dx laptop has two USB Type-A ports capable of transferring information at a rate of 10Gbps. You'll be able to connect your keyboard and mouse with a problem.

QuestionDoes this computer support Microsoft Pen Protocol?

- Answer I went to my local Best Buy where this exact model is on display. It doesn't have pen support! I'm surprised at the answer given here when I noticed on the laptop display, the description page says: pen incompatible. I had my Surface pen with me and the laptop didn't respond to it. The Envy X360 next to it did respond to my pen. So it's touchscreen but doesn't work with a pen.

QuestionThe i9 processor in this laptop is supposedly compatible with up to 96gb of ram (according to the manufacturer) so can I upgrade to 96gb of ram or Is there a reason other than processor capability that it would be limited to 64gb?

- Answer The maximum RAM that a computer will take is not just limited by what the processor is capable of handling. It's limited by things like the memory controller on the motherboard.
