The HP Smart Tanks come with up to two years of ink in the box - as such, they are not available as part of the HP Instant Ink program, as they don't use cartridges. Instead, they use bottled ink to refill, each of which comes with thousands of pages. As for its comparison to the HP OfficeJet Pro 8710, the biggest differences will be in the display (the 8710 uses an LCD display, whereas the 6001 has a line display), and the print speeds (the 6001 is slower than the 8710).
