- Answer The storage of the enclosure is only based on the size of the HD you put in it - I have used it for 50GB to 8000GB.

QuestionDoes this support 4TB and would it be something I can give my wife to throw in her purse to use as off site storage. Have 45K photos to safeguard.

- Answer I am not sure about supporting 4TB. I am using it with a 1TB drive. It is a bit big for a purse IMHO but, given the size of some purses, it will fit. It is an 8"x5"x1.5".aluminum case.

- Answer If the drive was a boot up drive then it might work as a data drive. If the drive has bad partitions or does not run - then no it won't work.

QuestionI'm using a 1.5 TB drive that was formatted into 3 500 GB partitions. When I repartition the drive in the enclosure, it won't partition it as a single 1.5 TB drive, but as a 1 TB and a 500 GB partitions. Is there a way to partition it as a 1.5 TB drive?

- Answer Windows will only allow partitioning on a MBR disk to 1,048 GB. A tool such as MiniTool allows you to convert the disk to GPT which permits > 1TB partitioning. I believe there might be a free version but I paid for it (inexpensive).

QuestionCan a 2.5" laptop drive be plugged into this? Not for long term use just for one time clone of a laptop drive that needs to be replaced - I know it won't be held tight and I won't be able to bump/move the enclosure if a 2.5 drive is in there.

- Answer Yes you can. I did this without an issue and just left the cover off.

QuestionI have a old hard drive out of a Inspirion one with Win 7 or 8.1 on the hard drive. Will the Insignia hard case transfer win 7/8.1 to a HP Windows ?? I notice the Inspirion hard drive is smaller than the Insignia hard cse. I that a problem ? Thank All.

QuestionI own a NUC and was wondering if this will turn off automatically when my NUC turns off or do I have to still toggle the power switch on this enclosure to off when my NUC is off to turn it off?

- Answer It's not an issue of compatibility; it is an issue of interface. If the older Dell MB has an IDE interface and the newer one is SATA, you will not be able to use it.

QuestionCan I format a drive in this enclosure?I have a hard drive that I need to reformat but the machine it is in doesn't have OS on it. I want to place in this enclosure and connect to my windows 8 laptop and reformat the drive. Is this possible with this enclosure.

- Answer Any computer can format a drive. Right click and find the format option. You might need to google how to use Administrative tools if that does not work. Those are tools in Windows. Easy to use.
