• A:Answer The speakers produce 97 decibels at one (1) watt. FYI, that level of loudness is very loud, enough to cause hearing loss if prolonged period time serious damage at 8 hours. 95 dB is as loud as a car without a muffler, ATV, motorcycle, or a gas powered lawnmower cycle (earplugs are necessary). You could power those speakers with a 67 W amplifier without breaking a sweat, you could power those speakers loud enough for the neighbors to call the police. Previously employed in an electric guitar company.

Q: QuestionI have a Yamaha 5.1 home theater receiver rated at 150 watts per channel at 6 ohms. How will these work with that amp?

• A:Answer These speakers can be run off of this receiver but we strongly recommend using a receiver/amplifier that supplies ~150 Watts at 8 Ohms to drive these speakers. If you are adamant about keeping your existing receiver, we'd suggest considering the R-600F! This model will still give you a lot of dynamic range and output, while being a bit more compatible with the power rating of your receiver.

Q: QuestionMy father gifted me his audio setup that he bought while we lived in Madrid Spain in the 70s. The receiver is a Kenwood KR 10000ii, would you recommend this setup? I have a Reel to Reel, Turntable and 8 track setup all purchased at the same time.

• A:Answer From what I could find on that model of receiver, it supplies "60 watts per channel into 8Ω (stereo)". The R-800F has a power handling of 150 Watts at 8 Ohms and should be connected to a receiver/amplifier that supplies close to this. The Kenwood KR 10000ii would be better suited for the R-600F. You will get cleaner audio and less chance for distortion.

• A:Answer I have the TX-NR6050 which has less power than the RZ and it drives them quite adequately. I don't know your specific loudness tolerance or your goals as far as how loud you wish to drive them but I can get them loud enough to be told that nobody needs music that loud from neighbors about 50 yards away.

• A:Answer Are you able to look up the power output for your Marantz? As long as it's less than 150 watts RMS they will work fine. If all you can find is a peak power rating, which I would doubt because Marantz is high quality and they don't need to "boost" sales by using high power ratings that aren't realistic they can handle up to 600 watts peak/max but that's only for real short bursts such as bass drum hits. RMS is the key number that says how much they can handle continuously and for these speakers that number is 150 watts. Hope this helps...

• A:Answer Open box is a risk you take. It’s like buying furniture that was the floor sample. It could be perfect and you’re getting a deal or it could have been used for 6 weeks and returned. I personally would always pay the extra to have something new plus a warranty and extended return time. It’s the mental insurance of knowing you covered your basis and not saying down the line “I wish I would have”
