• A:Answer No need for a phone line. It will connect directly to your router/modem. You will need the Netgeat Nighthawk app to complete the connection process. I'm far from being a techy but it was really easy to install.

Q: QuestionI am not able to see the Netgear_Ext wifi to do the set up. I did not find a solution online. The netgear trouble shooting page says to get an ethernet cable and set up via PC but seems like my version only works with APP set up.

• A:Answer Yes its a pain. The old extender models shows "_ext" when trying to connect but this model grabs your existing wifi name and just coat tails it. So if the extender goes out I really dont know it until I check the signal strength. I much prefer the _ext to differentiate. I hope Netgear makes a note on this. I still use my old one for upstairs and titled it "_extup"

Q: Questionwill this extender allow you to have a dedicated choice for 2.4 or 5.0? Meaning will it automatically switch between the two? Things like security cameras do not function if the switching is automatic, the mesh system from Xfinity did not allow for this
