I know this question has already been asked in the past, but since the latest app "Media Player" was included with the other apps of the PS4, it looks like the PS4 now allows users to play music and media from a USB storage device is what the app says. Does that now include external Hard Drives or are they still not compatible with PS4 if you use the USB feature with it? Another reason I was curious is because you are now able to back up your entire PS4 since the latest feature-rich update to the system. I already have over 500gb of data on my PS4 and the last time I checked, I don't think that they make flash drives that large. Could somebody please look into this and let me know?”

This is the recommended drive to replace the internal ps4 500gb drive. Sony will not void your warranty. Very easy to do, I walked my 7 year old through it. He did all the labor
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes it does! I just installed this drive into my PS4. You have to pop the metal cover off and remove the drive, tape and shielding. You also need to remove the USB adapter that is connected to the hard drive pin connector. But thats easy. Just remove the silver shielding and tape and the adapter should pop off. You can then use the enclosure for the old PS4 drive so you'll have a portable drive too. Its a steal at 89.99. Any questions let me know

Now i can use my ps4 hard drive for the portable hard drive instead. I highly recommend this product for Ps4 owners.

I purchased this a few weeks ago and placed it into my PS4 after formatting the HD to the compatible PS4 format. I haven't had any issues since the install and have played almost every night since initial install. I moved the 500gb HD from my PS4 to the empty case and use that as my external now.

A friend of mine bought this model to replace his ps4 stock hard drive and used the old 500gb hard drive as an external hard drive. And it works like a charm. He put all his movies on it and it seems to work just fine. NOTE: In order for it read your movies you need to create a folder ie.(movies) in the hard drive first, and then put all the movies in it.( otherwise the ps4 will not detect anything in the hard drive.)
