Questionwill adding dolby atmos speakers have any impact on the sound with movies and music recorded without Dolby atmos?

- Answer You can use these as surround back speakers in a 7.1 setup as well. For music, unless you have specially encoded surround music, you probably want to run that in stereo anyways for best sound, so no, it wouldn't enhance non atmos encoded music. There are some tracks on services such as Amazon Music HD that are offering tracks encoded with Atmos and Sony's Auro 3D.

Questionwould these fit on top of my fronts l/r Bose 161 speakers.

- Answer They’re designed to fit on top of the Sony floor standing speakers. If you go to the Sony website you can find the instruction booklet with the dimensions. They come with a bracket and screws to connect them to the floor standing speakers but I opted to use Velcro as I did not want to make screw holes in my speakers.

QuestionWould these be able to sit on top of the Klipsch R-15M without falling off? I know the dimensions for both, I just want to know about the non slip pads for the bottom if I'm able to position them to fit the Klipsch R-15M

QuestionCan I mount them up my wall (couch facing TV with 2 towers, 2 subs & 1 center, bookshelves rear ATMOS on the left and right elevated up to 8ft high) If so will I lose the ATMOS quality?

- Answer If I'm understanding you right yes you would lose quality in both 3d audio (atmos) quality and general audio quality. What you should do if you can only use 2 is mount one as close to the ceiling as possible above your center channel and one in the same place but directly behind you. If you can run 4 then I'd put 1 on each side wall. If you can run 6 like I do then put 1 above each tower (again close to the ceiling), 1 above each rear channel and 1 on each side wall. No matter how many you have or where you want to position them I highly recommend you mount them as close to the ceiling as possible for good 3d audio whether it's atmos or another spatial format.

QuestionI don't have the best speakers on the market but will these compliment or keep up with Monitor 70s, Klipsch bookshelves? HUGE POLK Center CS series, the big one. Will I notice a difference? 2 12s, Monitor 70s, Huge center, bookshelves, Worth 100?

- Answer As an owner of these speakers, with a similar home theatre setup as yours (Klipsch bases, Polk side/rear surrounds, plus Sony towers speakers for my fronts, and finally Mitsibushi for my center), I find the sony ATMOS speaker a great bargain for the price. The sound is crisp, and I notice no static during usage, typical of speakers I bought in that Sony's brand price range. Ultimately, I bought the speakers as a cheap option to ready my home theater for Dolby ATMOS and am happy with the purchase.

- Answer They certainly can be used for sound in small room, but they are designed in such a way that placing them in a way that doesn't aim the sound towards the ceiling is awkward. Using them alone would not give you "Atmos" sound, but having their sound traveling to the ceiling and reflecting downwards without being timed and controlled by an Atmor decoding audio receiver, might give you a weaker or slightly echoing effect, depending on the shape of your listening room.

QuestionToday was the first day I saw these (Sony - Dolby Atmos Enabled Speakers (Pair) - Black) available at Best Buy (other retailers have had them for about two weeks). It's 10:30am ET and they're sold out. Seriously!? When will they be available? If ever.

- Answer I wouldn't do that if you want the best audio possible out of them. Instead mount then on the wall as close to the ceiling as possible. I have 6 and I mounted them above my FR, FL, RR, RL towers and then I put one on my left wall and one on my right at the halfway point between my front and rear channels.

QuestionI have a Yamaha RXV683 AVR, and I have these speakers placed on top of my 2 tower fronts. Just curious though -- should these up-firing speakers be set as "front-presence" (4 front speakers + 1 center) or should they be assigned as surround? Thanks!

- Answer The speakers are intended to be used for ATMOS overhead applications (they are angled to fire upwards to reflect off the ceiling or wall mounted to fire downwards into the room). As such the idea is to connect them to the ATMOS Dolby setting in whatever processor you have. They can, of course, be connected to a rear speaker setting but you can’t do both ATMOs and Surround Rear if that’s what you’re thinking.

QuestionWhat type of mount is used to secure these to the wall? What is compatible? Based on the pictures I plan to use the mount on the wire terminal side.

- Answer These speakers use a wall plate to mount. They are included with the speakers, as well as the screws needed to attach them to the terminals. You will need either wall hooks or nails to secure them in place for hanging. My suggestion is to get 50# picture hanging hook kit. A lot more than needed, but better safe than sorry.
