  • QuestionMain unit is formatting card to 1.3 GBs? Both the card that came with it and a larger one? What is the fix for this?

    Asked by etp7.

    • Answer I had to go into RUN which is similar to the old DOS and delete partitions the hard way and then go into DSK MGT and activate the cards. Very odd! Once the cards are initially formatted on the unit remove them to do any additional formatting.

  • QuestionI do not have any Internet, Wi-Fi or cellular service at my house. Will this work for me?

    Asked by Angie.

    • Answer Thank you for your inquiry, Angie. No, this camera will not work without Wi-Fi or an internet connection. It needs to be paired with the Swann Security app, and most wireless models rely on the internet to manage recordings, even when using an SD card. Wired systems, like DVRs or NVRs, do not require internet and can record directly to local storage; you would only need a monitor for the initial setup. An internet connection is only necessary if you want remote access or control of the device. For a property without Wi-Fi, a wired system is the more reliable option for local recording. Hope that helps. Mary - Swann Team

  • QuestionDo they need installation or it’s simple to install?

    Asked by Tammy.

    • Answer Hi Tammy. You can certainly install this type of system yourself, however there is a bit involved so you may want to have a friend help you, and you'd need to have some basic tools like a ladder, drill, screwdriver etc. You'll need to run the included (low voltage) power cable to the main camera (it plugs into a wall socket), and then you also need to run wires between the main camera & each of the 3 add-on cameras. You can download user manuals from Swann's website if you'd like to know more before buying. -SD, Swann Team

  • QuestionIf unit say wireless why are cables needed?

    Asked by Jp.

    • Answer Hello Jp. The 3 wired cameras connect to the Fourtify™ Main Camera via cable. The main camera connects wirelessly to your home Wi-Fi. There is also an optional ethernet connector cable on the main camera that provides the option of a wired connection to your router as a backup connection when the connection to your Wif-Fi network is weak or unstable. • Questionwhat is the recommended distance between the main camera and the house main wifi

    Asked by dave.

    • Answer Hi Dave. Your question is a bit tricky to answer as everyone's network environment is slightly different and so the signal strength the camera receives at your home when it's 30ft from your router could be different from what your neighbor gets at the same distance. The main camera does need a strong Wi-Fi signal and for most people this means it should be located within 65ft of your router. Wi-Fi range extenders can also help you get a better signal at the camera's location if you need it. -SD, Swann team
