- Answer I have Windows 10 and it works fine with it. It also works on my daughter's Windows 7 laptop and my wife's Window's 8.1 laptop.

- Answer Yes, no issues at all. It is UBS3 so WIN10 likes it and will be fast if you are utilizing UBS3. It will also work with USB2 just not as fast.

QuestionWhat is the button on the portable hard drive?When connected to the computer the button lights up white. I thought the button would allow me to safely remove the hard drive but only my screen refreshed. The instruction books included are lacking information for first time users. A "Quick Start" guide which labels the components and how to run the set up, as well as a California Prop warning. While using the computer normally with this plug in the button randomly flashes and "AUTO PLAY" options appear. So far it has happened twice while typing this question. What is the button supposed to do?

- Answer There is no button. It is just a light with a bit of plastic in the middle. It sounds like you have a power issue on your USB port. I would try to place it in a USB 3 port and see if the problem keeps happening. Mine also flashes just before going back to sleep when I am not backing up data or the system is not indexing the drive.

QuestionDoes this have to be used as a back-up drive only or can it be used as sort of a large flash drive to save files and access on any compatible device?I'm under the impression that many external hard drives are just used for back-up to restore what was lost on the computer the data was originally stored in. I just want to use this as a storage device to save things from any computer I may be using at the time - at the library, a hotel business center where computers are provided for guests, a computer lab at school, etc. Will this only serve as back up or can I save files directly to the Canvio Connect II for access on any computer I hook it up to?

QuestionFor use with two computers?I see that this is PC and Mac compatible. I use both -- would I be able to use it to back up both (one manually [the PC], one with Time Machine [the Mac])? Or would I have to format it for just one kind of machine? And I'm assuming 2TB would be enough for both; is that not true? Thanks!

- Answer You can partisan the drive and format for NTFS on one partisan and HFS+J on the other. Or keep it at 2TB format with EXFAT it will work on both. I format with NTFS and run 'NTFS for MAC' on my apple. I need the 2TB due to large video editing needs. The drive works on both computers.

- Answer What type of device are you connecting your Canvio Connect II to? Please post another question and provide more information. If you connecting to a Windows based device it should work just fine. If you connecting it to Mac devices and you are using Apple Time Machine you would need to reformat the drive.

Questiondtc 820 2tb filling quicklyI've had mine for a few months & it is already @ 80% full. I'm not finding where the 'mass' is located I just do routine backups & moved important files &pics; those should be only ~.75 TB at very most. How may I access & delete old backups, or otherwise modify settings to not overload. I've looked through the settings & options, but not found what I'm needing Thanks

- Answer Should work fine on a WiiU but realize WiiU uses its own file system so when you insert it, it will ask to format and then only be usable for WiiU. If this drive is powered by the USB port then will most likely need a USB Y cable for it to spin up.

For these operating systems, make sure your BIOS settings have the xHCI Mode set to Auto or Smart Auto. This step reconfigures the USB 3.0 ports to function as USB 2.0 ports using the native Windows* EHCI driver. But only if this Hard drive you purchase is a 3.0/2.0 USB, it should then work on your XP PC but as a 2.0 USB connection. meaning, you will not be transferring at a higher speed rate as 3.0 USB does quicker speeds.

- Answer I use it on a windows based OS. I run windows 8.1 pro and it works just fine. As long as you have a usb3 port to get the most speed for transfers

QuestionUsing for Xbox One and computerPurchased this as a gift for boyfriend with the intentions of storing xb1 games and movies and music from his computer. It was used on the xb1 first and now hes trying to hook it up to the computer and it will not work without wanting to format. If he would have formatted on computer first would it still be saying the same thing, or could it be because the xb1 has a Windows 10 format, while his computer is still Windows 7?

- Answer Unfortunately nobody can answer this question without seeing what happened when it happened and without knowing LOTS more about the situation (software, etc) You can try a file recovery tool, but for that to work the sectors would need to have been untouched. If they were overwritten with new data, then your old data is unrecoverable. Remember, when you delete a document off of an external drive it DOES NOT go to the recycle bin. It permanently deletes it.

QuestionIt wants me to format the disk, should I do that?I am using Windows 8.1 and I accidentally chose to format the disk and now it won't work. I have unplugged it and re-plugged it in and now it does not show up in the control panel or in devices and drives. I also am planning to use it on my Windows 7 laptop and when I plug it in to the computer, it does not give me the option of installing the software when I click on the drive. When I open the drive, it also wants me to format it.

- Answer When you format a disk it wipes it clean and the computer will not pick up the drive until there is an OS installed.
