- Answer Hi! We're delighted to hear the extender is working well for Wi-Fi connectivity. In Extender Mode, the RE505X's Ethernet port is capable of providing wired connectivity to a network device, such as your PC. If you are not obtaining connectivity, please first ensure the RE505X is fully configured, and its status LEDs indicate connectivity. The next step would be to try using a different Ethernet cable, just to rule out the possibility of a faulty cable. If the symptom persists, please reach out to our support team using the support portal on our official T-Link website, and they will gladly assist you.

- Answer It needs to be closer to the spot above where he is in the basement. It is not meant to be right by the router it is meant to be in between the router and the spot you need better signal. Think of it as an invisible extension cord for wifi.

QuestionI have an AX 3000 Router and I have dead spots. Would the RE505X range extender work with it? What is the difference between the RE505X and the RE705X?

- Answer First, yes this device will work with your router. Second, the difference with the 2 devices has to do with the amount of traffic the device can handle at one time. I don’t have the specs for both products up in front of me, but I know the 705X supports more bandwidth. I suggest seeing what your internet speeds are and then going from there. For example, if your internet speed is only 500mbps, you wouldn’t necessarily need a device that supported extending 2gbps. I found that the 505X was adequate for what I needed.

- Answer Internet and metal doesn’t really mix.. the signal tends to break up as it “penetrates” the metal. You’ll see a different with the extender vs without, but it probably wouldn’t be significant.

- Answer You need to check to make sure the Arris router says it can handle a mesh network. My xFinity router does not, so this extender cannot operate as mesh and becomes a separate network with a new name. (The product description says "Create a mesh network that only needs one name and password by pairing RE505X with a TP-Link Mesh router.") When operating separately I do not get the extension of my wifi signal that I was hoping for.

- Answer Hi! The extender must be installed within the signal range of the host Wi-Fi network (the network you want to extend). While yes, you can use it in various places, those places must provide Wi-Fi connectivity at the extender's installation location, and for each new network, the extender must be reconfigured.

- Answer I believe the answer is yes, but keep in mind that each extender you use will result in slower speeds. So, if your internet is 500mbps from the router, you’ll get about 300mbps depending on the placement of the extender. If you use an extender to extend an extender then it’ll drop from 300 to…maybe 150.. not exact numbers, but hopefully you get the idea.

- Answer Hi! Yes, it can be used to extend an existing Wi-Fi network. However, please note that this extender is not a Deco Mesh model, so it will not support exclusive Deco features or functionality within the Deco app.

- Answer Hi! The RE505X Wi-Fi Extender is universally compatible with Wi-Fi routers. Please note that if you are talking about a Deco Mesh system when referencing "AX3000", then the extender can still be used to provide basic Wi-Fi extension; however, it will not fully integrate with the Deco Mesh ecosystem, apps, or exclusive Deco Mesh features. For full Deco Mesh extension, additional Deco nodes are required.
