QuestionIf I pre-program phone numbers to coincide with the pictures, what happens if the phone is unplugged or the power goes out? Will all of the numbers need to be pre-programmed again or is there a battery that helps the phone save that information?

- Answer There is a battery but I don’t know how long that battery lasts. One of the reasons I bought this phone for my mom is because it will still work if the power goes out. She is partially blind, can’t hear, and can’t remember how to use her cell phone. This phone has been great.

Questiondoes it have a port for a DSL filter? Is the battery included?

- Answer There is not a port for a DSL filter. The base is a regular old school phone with an answering machine. The rechargeable battery is included for the cordless phone.

QuestionThe telephone unit the bigger unit that mounts to the wall does that have to be plugged into an electrical socket to work or is it the type of phone that only uses a phone cord from a jack for it to work.

QuestionThis phone requires the user to enter a “1” before the call can be connected. Can this be changed so that the call is answered when the handset is picked up?

- Answer Dave - The VTech SN5147 is not capable of requiring for the number 1 to be pressed when receiving an incoming call. However, when answering a call on the cordless handset, the Talk/Flash button has to be pressed. The call will connect right away when answered on the telephone base by picking up the corded handset. QuestionIs there a battery backup adapter for cs6529-4--for power failures -- why not? I could build one with the right rechargeable battery and a rectifier and a cc diode. Often you need a telephone especially during power failures!

- Answer Per VTech, outgoimg calls can still be made during power outages by using voltage on the phone line. Nice feature!

The base supports a maximum of four cordless handset (SN5107) and an Amplified Accessory Handset with Picture Dial Buttons (SN5307). You can also add two VTech compatible Cordless audio doorbell (SN7021) and 30 compatible ULE devices such as ULE Cordless extension ringer (SN7014) and ULE Wearable home SOS pendant (SN7022).
