QuestionLone two of the vetch 4 business system is not working. Model number CM18445. No calls are coming in on line 2 and when I pick up the line it is busy even though no one is on it. Line 1 is working normally. Tried to reset the system but it did not fix it

- Answer I was having the same problems with this product as well on the side of the phone there is a switch that have line 1 or Line 2 try putting it on Line 1-2 first and see if line 2 is busy. If not switch it to Line Line 2-3 or Line 3-4. Put the phone jack cord into the line to which you hear and dial tone with Line 2 not been busy it took me about and hour to complete this because our company had four lines. Your Line 2 on side might not be Line 2 on this phone system it might line 3 showing up once your customer call in it might showed up something else our company our line 2 is line 3 front office is line 1. I hope this help you. I am disappointed in this product.

QuestionHow do I find the number of a message that was left? It says unknown where the callers name should be but i don”t know how to call them back.

- Answer Hi - The VTech CM18445 will display Unknown instead of the Caller ID information of the caller if the information has been set out of area. The phone will not be able to identify the phone number of the caller since the telephone service provider sent the Unknown information. Thank you, -VTech Support

QuestionThe line on the CM18445 4 line phone doesn't light up when someone else in the house already ls in use. If I plug in 1 line the light shows up to show it's in use. If you plug a second, or third line, it will not light up.

QuestionDoes this phone automatically switch to a second line when the first line is occupied? Or do you physically need to push a line 2 button?

- Answer Hi - Yes, the VTech CM18445 has automatic line selection feature. The unit will automatically select a line that is not in use (starting with line 1) when the corded handset is picked up or speakerphone button is pressed. Thank you, -VTech Support

Questionwhen the phone rings can 2 people accidentally answer the same line at the same time or will it roll the second pick up to line 2? Is there a hold button on cordless phones??

- Answer Molly - The call will go to the first unit of the VTech CM18445 that will pick up and the second unit that will try to answer the same call will get the dial tone for the next available line in the system. The VTech CM18445 has a call privacy feature, that is set to ON by default, which will not allow 2 person to answer an incoming call. Any system extension of the VTech CM18445 can join a call in progress by pressing the line key which is currently in use to set up a conference. To place a call on hold on the cordless handset, you need to press the Hold Softkey when the handset extension is in use. Thank you! -VTech Support

Here's the step on how you can place the call on hold on the cordless handset. While on a call, the handset display shows the word HOLD on the screen. Press the corresponding softkey button below and it will place the call on hold on the handheld device. QuestionWondering why our incoming messages are repeated. Say, we have 3 messages on our machine, they are doubled one after another totaling 6. I am not seeing a way to correct this in our manual. Thank you for your help.

QuestionWe purchsed the cm18445 and we gave 3 lines that roll over that come in on one line from the wall. When we hook this line up to the console we do not get a dial tone and we are unable to complete the instulation. Can you please help?

- Answer Hi Angie, we are sorry that you are having an issue on getting a dial tone for the VTech CM18445. Please make sure that you have the compatible telephone wall jack for the phone. The type of telephone jack can only be a single line jack or a dual line jack. If you have one jack with 3 lines coming out of it, you may check with your telephone provider to split the jack into two. One jack for lines 1 and 2 and a separate jack for line 3. You can use an RJ14 when connecting the first 2 lines to L1/L2 port and an RJ11 for L3 port at the telephone base. If this does not help, please contact VTech Customer support for further assistance at 1-800-595-9511. We are open from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Mondays through Fridays. - Answer Roger - You can only have 1 VTech CM18445 within a set. You can expand the VTech CM18445 system by adding a combination of only up to nine devices (CM18045, CM18245, IS6200). Thank You! - VTech Support

QuestionUsing one phone number--assuming I have a 4 phone setup, how many people can be in different calls at a time? Can the receptionist send a call to an extension line (is there an extension number?) and still answer another phone call after?

- Answer Hi - If the VTech CM18445 only has one active line, then only one extension can be used on a call at a time. Each unit has its own extension number and one extension can transfer a call to another extension. In order to use different extensions at different calls, you need to have more than one active line connected to the main console. - Answer Hi - Here's the procedure to set the VTech CM18445 to Announce only mode so callers will just hear an announcement but will not have an option to leave a message. 1. When the console is not in use, press MENU/SELECT. 2. Press ▼ to scroll to Line mode, then press MENU/SELECT. 3. Press ▼ or ▲ to select the desired line (Line 1, Line 2, Line 3 or Line 4) or All lines, then press MENU/SELECT. 4. Press ▼ or ▲ to choose the desired line mode (Announce only). 5. - Answer SJ - Yes, the VTech CM18445 is wall mountable. Please do not forget to rotate the handset tab 180 degrees by using a coin to insert on the groove. The handset tab is located below the switch hook. This will keep the handset from sliding off. Thank you! - VTech Support
