- Answer You do not need to use the backup software. I use as another drive on e: drive on the system. I have never used their backup software.

QuestionWhy does this "Best Buy exclusive" drive have only a 2-year warranty, while the WD MyBook and Passport versions both have a 3-year warranty?

- Answer the 3 year warranty is only for old models. all WD externals manufactured in late 2016 and going forward only have a 2 year warranty. that includes the new rectangular design My book and Passport units. this is an industry wide thing, nothing to do with best buy. seagate reduced their warranties to 2 years a long time ago. having said that, this best buy exclusive drive is way better than the my book products because it contains a much higher quality hard drive inside.

QuestionWhat if I wanted to back up my entire WD easystore drive to another external hard drive? Can I do that? Is there any other personal cloud storage device that can do this? I don’t want cloud Internet backup, I would like external hard drive backup.

- Answer plug in both drives to the same computer with usb3 ports, not usb2. open your OS file exploring app, explorer in windows, finder in os x. select all in one drive and COPY PASTE into the new drive. watch a movie or two. keep these ventilated while doing this process.

- Answer The drive inside was a WD80EDAZ. I ordered in Feb 2021. I plugged into a synology nas 220+ and was instantly recognized without any pin modification needed.

- Answer It should. I’m running on Mojave. I’m also not using it as a time machine backup. I’m using it for primarily backing up other files. I have another external hard drive that does my TM backups. But that shouldn’t matter.
