- Answer I seems like you can configure for either one. There’s a .dmg file for Mac and a .exe file for Windows in the hard drive.

QuestionI just purchased this to use on our xbox one which was running out of space. However, noticed when we power the xbox one down, this stays on as a blinking light. Can I unplug it safely and plug it back in when we want to use the xbox? Help please

- Answer There is a setting on the Xbox One under Settings - Storage. It lets you "turn off storage when console is off"

QuestionCan this HD be used by multiple computers in a small business setting?

- Answer I am not an expert, but I have shared this drive on my network and am able to access files and save to it as well. I see no reason it wouldn't work in a small business setting as long as you share it on a network in a proper way and set the permissions correctly. You should then be able to map network drives on all the computers in the office and use it as if it were local drives on each machine.

- Answer That is exactly what I am using it for. It works fine, but it will have to be formatted for use on the PS4 first just like any other drive that you would use. I was using a smaller external drive on the PS4 previously. This means that I had to transfer files from the smaller drive to this one as well as getting the drive formatted, but the whole process was straight-forward. I use the drive as the install location for all the games on the PS4. After having this drive in place for a few months of considerable use including taking the PS4 and this drive on a weekend trip, I have had no complaints so far.

- Answer Hi Dude, Sony added support for external USB hard drives on the PS5 with their April 2021 update. However, due to PS5 restrictions, games can only be played off the console’s internal SSD. - Answer I had to use the utility. The standard formatting option would repeatedly crash. Eventually I figured it out. The transfer process was also a little clunky. Not able to move large folders containing up to 4 tb. Subsequently, it took an extra couple days to open sub folders and copy those individually (or in large quantity depending on folder contents. The performance seems to be solid thus far. I bought the device a month ago; after leaving it plugged in for 3 weeks straight for various drive cloning I have not had any issues. WD usually has a solid products. I’m upgrading/preparing for more storage needs, not a single problem with other WD HD’s from 10-15 years of moderate usage.

- Answer 2018 and earlier yes. Seems now in 2019 these are white label enterprise drives with 256mb cache and 5400rpm

QuestionIs it possible to connect this device directly to an audio-video receiver if I want to listen to my music? I'd use its app to control playback, but I'd prefer to have a wired connection to the avr.

- Answer Guess it would depend on your AV receiver. To my knowledge, most don't have direct plug-n-play capabilities. However, I plug mine directly into an LG Blu-Ray player than runs directly into my Pioneer AV receiver via HDMI In, which of course eventually runs out to the HDMI Out to SmartTV. Don't know if any of that helps or makes sense ;)

QuestionCan I plug my IPhone 6S Plus directly to this to download my pics, videos, contacts, etc? My computer is so old it would take too long to download to computer & then external hard drive. I have over 7,000 pics & many videos.

- Answer You can't connect the iPhone directly. HOWEVER, you can use your old computer as the bridge to the external hard drive... meaning, you can go from the phone to the external drive and never "store" the images on your old computer. These days, it seems that Apple wants you to run things through iTunes. Hope this helps! BTW - Before doing anything else, you'll need to format the external hard drive to HFS+ using the Western Digital software. It's super quick and easy to do, just follow the steps.

QuestionWhat is a typical data writing speed for this hard drive?

- Answer USB 3 can handle upto 500MB or 5 Gb/sec. But thats just the interface. I believe this drive will handle sustained around 150MB a second. The burst speed will be faster because of the cache on the drive. I think when i did my testing it was between 200 and 130MB a sec or so. Good Luck!
