Amazing upgrade over the standard iPad

This is my third iPad, and I can't possibly write anything that does justice to how much of an upgrade this is from my old iPad Air. The size increase, the reduced bezel, the amazing visual experience and lightning fast speed. It was a lot to swallow what this costs, for sure it was a choice between a new really nice laptop (or even a decent desktop) or a tablet. I happen to have a gaming desktop that does everything I need for sit-down computing, but forever my tablet has been for lounging around, a vehicle to check email, read news sites, play some games or follow sports through various apps. Most importantly, and most nights, I relax and watch whatever- youtube videos, subscriptions to streaming sites like Netflix or Amazon prime, Youtube TV now (we are cable cutters), or my Plex Media server with over 600 titles and as many TV episodes of various shows. This thing is like owning an 80 inch TV when sitting in bed with it propped on my chest, using wireless earpods for audio. It is such an amazing and immersive experience for that alone, it was worth the fiscal leap. You can get similar experiences for somehwat less I'm sure, but over the years with many iPad generations being handed down to my kids, I have a decent amount of money invested in the iStore between apps, songs, etc. This is where i was staying, and this iPad is truly the king of tablets.

Have had this tablet for a few weeks now. It is great I use it for my job every day. Having the large screen and being able to lay it flat is great for design and drawing. I also let my kids use several of the kids drawing apps and a few others. The tablet is very easy to use, my 4 year old easily navigates to the apps he uses. ONLY THING I DO NOT LIKE, IT IS WAY TO EASY TO ACCIDENTALLY MINIMIZE/ APPS. my 1 year old wants to touch the screen with her hands and almost always closes out of anything on the screen where she barely touches it and ever so slightly moves her hand. The operating system runs flawlessly. no problem having many apps running, as well as having 2 things opened side by side like web browser and file folder which I do when downloading new fonts. Battery is great and lasts me all days with many hours of use. Sometimes leaving screen on with brightness up with a image for referencing as well as several hours of using internet and drawing. Facial recognition works great for the most part even with dark. Cameras are great and takes quality pictures/ videos. I have used both the front and rear ones a lot.

The iPad Pro 3rd Generation is the only way to go in the computing/tablet world right now. It is basically able to do everything a MacBook can but has the portability of an iPad, a beautifully designed and functional touch screen and all the benefits of actually having apps and brand new iPadOS. You can get just as much storage size as a MacBook in the 256gb and 512gb versions and can have a screen size of only .4 inches smaller for cheaper. You get a nearly 4K screen along with a 120 hz refresh rate. Unless you are using a lot of external programs or softwares that you would actually need a computer operating system for, the iPad Pro beats the MacBook in every facet of comparable categories. Trust me, match this iPad with the Apple Pencil and a keyboard case and you will absolutely love it.

Coming from an iPad Air 2 and WOW

I was hesitant on purchasing this particular iPad as I have an iPad Air 2 that still works perfectly fine. I was wanting to get a 12.9 Pro so I was looking at the 2nd gen with Touch ID because you can easily find one in great condition for half the price. I get not everyone can splurge on something like this so if you get a different iPad because of fiduciary deficiencies it’s all good. Anyway, my friend who has this model of the iPad Pro told me it was awesome and worth the money over the 2nd gen. I went into Best Buy a couple of times to use it and I still wasn’t sold and to top it off if I did go with the current gen i would have to choose between the 11 inch and 12.9 inch with a $170 price hike for the latter. I decided to buy it and if I didn’t like it I would return it. I backed up my iPad Air 2 and picked up the 12.9 iPad Pro from Best Buy. As a side note I was leaning toward the newer iPad because of using Face ID instead of Touch ID. I have the iPhone X and I love Face ID. I’ve had every iPhone from the beginning and the advances made to unlock the phone are quite nice but i digress. I restored my iPad Air 2 profile into the new iPad and about 30 minutes later I was ready to go after the apps downloaded. Now I’ve watched a ton of iPad videos and reviews. I don’t just buy something “tech “ without doing a fair amount of research especially when spending as much as these machines cost so I knew what I was getting myself into but it’s until the iPad was actually in my hands at my home with all of my settings in tact where I realized how awesome of a machine it is compared to the iPad Air 2. As I said earlier the iPad Air 2 works perfectly fine and I gave it to my daughter to replace her aging gen 1 iPad mini. In all honesty the iPad Pro makes the iPad Air 2 look like garbage. Now I know it’s not but there is literally no comparison. The speakers , screen , aesthetics , etc. are beyond what I could have imagined. After using it for a while it even makes my iPhone X seem like a piece of lesser tech and almost toy like. I used my iPad Air 2 a lot. I didn’t just have it in a drawer and used it sparingly; I used it daily. I’ve used this iPad Pro 12.9 daily since I had it and when my daughter has a question about her “new” iPad I think of how inferior it is. I’m not here to bash any iPad. I think they’re the best tablets ever and I’m not an Apple fanboy in any sense of the word but I do love iOS and Mac OS but I also have tons of experience with Android and Windows. I actually had a surface book 6 that I bought from Best Buy because I wanted a Windows tablet /pc (had a surface book 2 and missed the detachable ) and I just couldn’t like it and I returned it in 2 days and bought this iPad which is what I should have done in the first place. This iPad isn’t for everyone. Some might think it’s too big, too heavy, too expensive but for me it’s worth every penny. I imagine I’ll keep this for many years as I did my iPad Air 2 and with apples OS track record this iPad will get updates for many years. Should you upgrade from an iPad Air 2 like I did ? Absolutely if you can afford it and the same goes with windows and android tablets. This is the tablet to have if you’re into using a tablet daily. I would wholeheartedly recommend this iPad to anyone and everyone.

    Absolutely Amazing Productivity Device

I am a technology consultant and long time Apple user. Six years ago, I made the switch to Microsoft because they were innovating due to their change in leadership. My “go-to” has been the Surface Book 2. While I loved this device, something was missing. When I needed something quick and stable, Ithought back to my 12” iPad Pro. No matter what, my iPad never once failed me. Then enters the 2018 iPad Pro. This device is amazing. As a business user, I use Microsoft Office daily, along with GSuite, Evernote and other applications. I also do some quick coding when I need to. Outlook on the iPad is the best and I find myself more productive each day. I use Microsoft Teams and Zoom for daily video conferencing and corporate communications. Slack is running always and I “Yam” on Yammer. The handwriting on this device is second to none. I use MyScript Nebo and Notability for near everything. Nebo is the best handwriting app when you need things converted to text. It is near flawless and care read even the worst handwriting. This is my “go-to” app because it is available on iOS, Android, and Windows. As for Notability, it is great in meetings. If you record the audio of the meeting, your handwriting is synced. So, when you play it back, your handwriting is also replayed. Because of the new keyboard and stylus, I reach for my iPad more than my computer for near everything. People will tell you that this is not a real computer or the apps are weak because they are not able to perform like a desktop application. While the critics are correct, they are also wrong. Most of the “creatives” complain, but this device, while marketed to creatives, is really more about productivity. The iPad Pro is a very useful for business, school and daily use. The Apps, while different, are very powerful and are extremely stable. The OS is secure and is capable of near everything I would typically do on a Mac or PC. Note, I have yet to meet one creative that uses one of these devices, so it might be time for Apple to change their marketing. So, for the complainers...you do not buy this device for Photoshop or running Maya. Are you going to have every feature in Excel available on this device? Not yet. They are coming and 99% of the world does not need them. Who is this device for? People who want a powerful productivity device that will not let them down. Get the Apple Smart Keyboard and Stylus, along with AppleCare. I promise you will not be sorry. Also, BestBuy is your place to get this device. They have an amazing team that can help you out. Also, they will match Apple’s discounts for students and educators. If you are a Veteran, BestBuy will match Apple’s discount for you, too.

    Could Be Better

Everything about this product seems to be great the camera is nice the screen quality is nice and the size is perfect. Sometimes I contemplate whether I bought the wrong size or not, because I bring this almost everywhere and it is quite large, but when I am using the iPad Pro it really feels good. If I had a smaller screen I probably would not be too happy or satisfied. Since I’ve been using the iPad I found myself taking notes more often on it. It has been really useful with the new Apple Pencil I use it almost every time I come up with something or When I get a little creative. But sometimes I feel like the iPad Pro is lacking something maybe the fact that it’s an iOS device and I cannot fully use it at its maximum potential as if I am very limited to what I can do, maybe they’ll come up with something within the next update? This feels like it has a potential to be for creative users or people who like to document things and keep it on their device being practically paperless. If you do plan on buying this device hopefully you aren’t just using it for Netflix and YouTube or watch movies only because you can probably buy something cheaper if you were going to just do that. If this device was more capable of doing more things then I would probably be more happy and recommend this device.

Using this larger iPad is amazing! Editing and viewing photos on the big screen....while still being light enough to hold onto comfortably is such a huge improvement over the standard size....so glad I decided to go with the 12.9" instead of the 11”. The addition of the pen makes the process super easy....thanks Apple for another great product! Only downfall is the price....a laptop could be purchased for less, but still happy with the product.

I'm really not a big app user, but I do draw a lot and that is the main function of this thing for me. As a drawing tablet, I absolutely love it. The feeling of drawing with the pencil is totally natural, the palm-rejection is near-perfect, and it's portable so I can draw anywhere! The battery lasts plenty long and the display is gorgeous.

This is my 3rd iPad Pro 12.9 and I must say that it is without a doubt the best so far. I love the Face recognition, IOS 12 is awesome, the speed is absolutely unbelievable. The screen is by far the best iPad screen I have seen yet. The refresh rate is also 120Hz like the last IPad Pro, however, the colors are more vibrant and lifelike. All that said, this iPad is simply put, not worth the money. My 2nd Gen iPad Pro 12.9 performs great, and I still use it. In terms of bang for your buck, the 2nd Gen wins hands down. It is no slouch and in my opinion wins the value award. If Apple could get off of their high horse and realize that the rocketing prices of their products will put them in a precarious position. They are slowly becoming unpopular due the fact that they are unaffordable. Wake up Apple.

The iPad pro 12.9 inch is a wonderful device. Usually, tablets such as iPads of the past have been good for only casual web surfing, games and media consumption only. This iPad is a stepping stone to the next level. It's now capable of signing contracts/documents, taking notes, editing media and the list goes on. Despite the hefty and large price, the new iPads (11" & 12.9) are right up there to compete with laptops and desktops. If I would give some advice of which iPad to buy: If you're just a casual browser who just wants to consume media on the go or at home, play games, online shop, note taking for class etc, and still prefer a physical home button, then save yourself some money and purchase the new iPad air or iPad mini. They will do more than fine and you won't feel too bad about burning a hole in your wallet. If you're planning on doing a lot of work such as media editing, writing essays/notes, future-proofing your tech needs for school/work, then your best bet is getting the latest iPad pro 11" or 12.9". Overall, it's all about the individual consumer and their preferences. Just go to the store, test each version out and make your decision from there. I sold both my iMac and MacBook Pro and made the switch to solely use this iPad Pro as my daily workhorse. Portability, plenty of storage, on the go video streaming when travelling, data transferring with usb-c external drives and editing is seamless. And with the software update for iOS 13 releasing in September, this device will be just as good as using a laptop/desktop.

Well I bought this item for my wife as a birthday present. Needless to say, she is extremely happy with it. The screen is ultra sharp and the item has enough storage for her to keep all of her pictures, music, etc all in the same location. The new processor is also extremely fast. Websites pop up really quick and her applications run a lot faster than the previous version. Finally is the size. It is as large as a laptop and now she uses it 99% of the time and has no need for that laptop any longer. I suggest also purchasing the keyboard/cover to make this item fully 'laptop' replaceable. She is very happy and now so am I. I hit it out of park with this years birthday present!

I was one of the first to get the original iPad. It was great for what it was, but didn't offer me the complete laptop replacement I was looking for. I debated for a full year before I went back into the iPad space because I work on Windows for various aspects of my career that it was hard to break away. After discussing their experiences with some friends and colleagues, I have to say that the experience is by far the best I had in a long time. The speed on this device is great and I've been able to download apps that allow me to continue working on code development even when I'm not on a Windows PC. I do have to say, that I am one of the few that also has a Windows AWS workspace, so whatever this lacks, I quickly can log into my AWS workspace to complete. The size of the screen allows me to multitask and is great when I just want to watch movies. The glare still is an issue, but I'm so used to that because I've been a customer of Apple products since the beginning that I've gone to other competing tablet devices for my reading needs. I also purchased the pen, but find that I don't use it often. For those that are thinking about the pen option, wait until you get the iPad and use it for a while first before buying one. I also did not purchase the Apple folio keyboard and went with the Logitech one because of brand recognition and reviews around keyboard layout for those with larger fingers. Overall, I am pleased with this purchase and I have completely replaced lugging my laptop around. So for those considering a laptop replacement, think hard about what you do while mobile and decide whether this is an opportunity to break away from your normal routine and go with the iPad Pro.

Some think an iPad is just an iPad. This generation give you more colors and the quality is like no other. Storage is more than enough and the speed of getting from application to application is so fast. Size is great and the technology locks you in. Seeing details more clearly today than the prior generations of iPad. Hard to put it down. Just great!

Much faster, better graphics, and smoother operation. I had the old iPad, I think it was a model 2. What a difference. I love the size, the speed, and am even getting used to the facial recognition. I wasn't sure about the keyboard/cover as I had one on the earlier model and hated it. But this works so much better. Definitely a great buy.

This thing is great. I have a MacBook Pro as well and this is as fast or faster. I got the keyboard with it so it feels about like having another laptop that is touchscreen and that I don’t have to share with my wife. After about a month and a half of having it I still love it as much as when I bought it. Price is a little salty but you get what you pay for.

If you are an iPad fan, you should love this product. The 12.9 inch iPad is fast and the screen is beautiful. It takes a little bit of getting used to going from a 9.7 inch iPad, but everything is better on the 12.9 inch iPad. I do a lot of hand writing and with the larger screen I don’t have to zoom in nearly as much. The Apple Pencil two double tap feature makes correcting mistakes much more convenient. The multimedia experience is far better due to better speakers, smaller bezels, and a brilliant LCD screen. If you think this is going to replace your laptop then you don’t get what an iPad is. If you do understand the iPad then I suggest trying out the 12.9 inch model if compactness is not a requirement. Compare the sound and the screen to the 11 inch in store and you’ll immediately know what I’m talking about.

I’ve owned a lot of Apple tech. This is quite possibly my favorite device ever, now made even better with iPadOS 13! Honestly, the changes to Safari and having an actual downloads folder baked in to Files, coupled with the multitasking and raw processing power really do make this a viable laptop replacement for almost everyone. The screen is bright and gorgeous. The speakers are loud and sound better than most laptops. In fact, they sound better than every pc laptop I’ve ever heard, and are louder to boot. Surprising low end for such a thin device. The battery life is great. I’m using it for actual work and less play more and more often. I was worried that getting the 12.9 inch would feel too big and heavy for a tablet, but I actually don’t think about it at all anymore. I would have a harder time going back to a smaller screen. Apple really knocked it out of the park with this one.
