Overall a great router. Able to handle multiple devices using wireless. Good range. Easy setup with Mac computer. A steep price tag considering other routers at this price range.

We bought our last router 10 years ago, so it was definitely time to upgrade. The AirPort Extreme has increased our internet speed and the range is much better in our house, eliminating the spots where the signal was not very strong. The 802.11ac is very fast on my iPhone as well, and the simultaneous dual band signal means the router effortlessly chooses the band needed for each device in our house. Set-up took me only a couple minutes and worked right out of the box. Even though Apple routers cost a bit more, they are well worth the expense!

My wireless signal from the cable company router was garbage! LTE signal in the next room! At my son's suggestion I purchased the Apple unit. WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!! I get strong signal all the way down to my shop which is at least 150' from our home. Both are brick veneered. It even works well when walking to my neighbor's home 4 houses away!! Well done!! I'm sold completely on Apple and plan to convert all my system to Apple!!!

Wish I could give this 4.5 stars. The main reason it gets a ding is the price. And this is coming from an Apple user of 15+ years. That said, this is a great plug and play wireless solution with super speed and outstanding range. Apple's Airport Utility makes it super simple to set up and use as a main hub or for extending your network. It just WORKS.

AirPort Extreme is easy to set up. If you have a couple of devices-no problem. But connecting ALL devices is time comsuming just because you have to reenter passwords to connect. AirPort Extreme has a good range and can be use by devices anywhere in the house.

This is my second AirPort Extreme router. The first extreme I bought 7 years ago, and gave it to a friend when I moved into a bigger place and bought this one. I've never experienced any problems with the hardware or signal - it's been rock solid and hassle-free. I own a 2,600 sq. ft. home built in 1936, so the walls and floors are solid. My internet connection enters the house in a corner of the basement, so that's where I have the AirPort Extreme. It's powerful enough to run an AppleTV, upstairs in the opposite corner of the house, along with my office Mac, on the main level but also in the opposite corner of the house. Very happy and hope to keep it for many more years.

I was looking for something to pump up my wifi reception in my 2bedroom apartment. My Zoom modem just wasn't kicking out the strength I needed. I have Comcast as my provider, with a 75 MB download pipe and needed that same speed for wifi and the extreme with the AC protocol fit the bill. Consistently fast! I get evey bit the 75MB download if not more! Now here is something to keep in mind. If you have an old iPhone or laptop, your wifi speed with the extreme will be matched in what your tech can handle. For example, my wife and I, our laptops can handle wifi speed up to N. The latest with the extreme is AC. My iPhone 6plus is wifi speed capable AC. My wife has an iPhone 4S which tops out at wifi speed G. If both laptops and my 6S are using wifi and I do a speed test, we all will get a 75-80MB download speed. If she logs in with her 4S, everyone slows to about a 40MB download speed. It's fast, just not screaming. See how older tech slows down newer tech. This piece of kit is worth the money and my laptops and phones paired up without any problems. I was able to rename my network and change my password and shut off my Zoom router from pushing out wifi. A good deal. Enjoy.

I am not an Applehead so I do not recommend this because it's sold by apple. I do lots of wi-fi installs, these units seem to just work so much better than the Netgear & Linkys units. Packed with antennas, easy to setup, and better, stronger signal. The other plus is its easy to add an express to extend range in larger houses. Costs a few bucks more, but It's well worth the price. Highly recommended.

The Apple AirPort Extreme is the most eaiset wireless wi-fi device to use. It's basically a plug and use device. You don't even need a computer to set it up. I used my iPad air to set my Air Port Extreme. Even though the price is on the HI side it is worth every penny! You can also connect 50 different devices to it. Most other wireless devices can hold only 4-8 devices. The biggest thing for me is that the wireless range is really good compared to other wireless devices.

I've gone through so many routers in my life (D-link, Linksys, Netgear, etc...) and they've all made me want to throw them at a wall. The Apple Extreme is the easiest to set up and manage of anything I've ever used. And the range and speed is top notch. I have 1GB fiber optic service at my house and I can pull 550MB wireless with my iMac in the next room which is as good as it can get for wifi. I would never let anyone I know buy any other router. Period.

I own and have installed a bunch of airports and extremes for biz, family and friends over the years. With the easy airport utility interface and set up you can't go wrong for building a solid LAN. The extreme A/C pushes the full 250 -300 MBPS that Comcast serves us here in this part of the wine country. We get decent broad coverage even through walls etc.. Wish there was an external antennae hookup for customizing the installation up high for even broader coverage at our barn but other than that am totally satisfied. I tried some other monster A/c 1900 router extenders but ultimately prefer the Apple interface that works with iOS devices as well as my Mac laptop. Guess I'm just an Apple addict. I do wish the extreme worked with airplay speakers so I didn't need another airport just for playing music. Hence the 4 stars. BestBuy also matched the online discounted price I found so bought it at the local store.

I buy an incredible amount of Apple products for the main reason that they just work. There are issues from time to time, but they always fix them. They don’t just give up on products when the new model comes out next year. The typical Apple product seems to get updates for at least 5 years. That’s a long time these days. This AirPort Extreme was so easy to setup, and I feel like my family has a safe connection considering Apple’s legendary attention to security and privacy. Just plug it in, download the AirPort Utility app, choose a network name and password, and you’re in business with long range, fast internet. There is a robust suite of additional settings and features if you’re a technical user as well. Easy. Period.

You have probably read this many times in other Airport reviews "It just works", and that is absolutely an accurate statement and why this router is worth the cost. I have had just about every make and many models of routers over the years and have always had to reboot with varying degrees of frequency for one reason or another. When I started my last search for a "reliable" router, reading endless user and tech reviews, there seemed to always be glowing reviews with the one caveat that they had to reboot the router from time to time. Every other router I have owned had other hiccups that irritated me at times but I could live with that, having to reboot is the biggest irritation though. I was told by a family member that they owned an apple airport extreme and had not rebooted it in over three years, seemed to good to be true, but I have not had to reboot mine since I bought it months ago. In addition, all I did to set it up was plug it in, connected with an iPad, named the network and connected everything else (Xbox, network printers, iPhone, Android phones, TVs and PCs) both wireless and wired without a hitch. The wireless signal is pretty good, covers a 3000 sq ft house and even get good signal out in the backyard. I'm not really an Apple person, but I am absolutely thrilled with the Airport extreme.

First off this is my second AirPort Extreme, and I've wanted to get my hands on one of these every since it came out. It's a snap to set up with the airport utility app and you can monitor whose on it and what their signal strength is. Also works very well with the iPhone 5s for lightning fast wifi browsing. As I said this is my second one had the other since 2008 along with a 2008 Mac mini, I also have a 2013 i5 Mac Mini. Awesome apple product and takes up very little space I would not own another router, seriously it's that good!

This replaced 5th generation Airport Extreme & the signal strength difference is quite noticeable! Although I currently only have 802.11N devices, the signal strength & speed difference is night & day! Great coverage throughout my home and I have excellent speed with multiple (6) devices on wi-fi while streaming movies on at least two of them! I am quite impressed! Can't wait to see what the difference is with an 802.11AC device!

Do yourself a favor and buy this router. I've had about half a dozen routers and this one by far has the longest, strongest signal, with no drops or fade-outs. The setup took maybe 2 minutes. Finally no more complaints from the wife and kids about lousy or slow wifi. We can all be on it at the same time with no issues. The last time I looked there were 14 devices connected to it. You won't regret buying this, not to mention it looks good too. As with all Apple products, it's well made.

I have been using an Apple Time Capsule as my wireless router for my home. My home is quite large and the interior walls are covered with sound absorbing wallboard as well as insulated. These features limited the range of my Apple Time Capsule wifi router so I opted to put in a remote AirPort Extreme at the opposite end of the home to give my full wifi access throughout my home. The Airport Extrem was an excellent choice, I now have a well balance strong wifi signal throughout my home and outside porches. It was very easy to install as an extended router without using cables. The performance of this unit is flawless and based on my AirPort Time Capsule, which is 8 years old, I expect the same length of service from the new AirPort Extreme. I wold recommend the AirPort Extreme to my friends and family.
