I fought to not buy this router because all of the reviews suggest that it's not as fast as outer routers that cost the same price or less however, the ease of use of this router outweighs the speed issue for me. I receive the same speeds over WiFi as I do when it's wired which in my case is ~175 Mbps. The best feature of this router is that it doesn't create separate wireless networks for the 5 ghz and 2.5 ghz channels. It is smarter to direct you to the best one and only have one SSID name. Plus, I really like that it's a nice neat case rather than a typical ugly router with antennae sticking out all over. Very few lights as well which is a nice feature in my opinion. The router was also very easy to setup and configure. I've configured a fair share of routers and this is one is drop dead simple.

I buy an incredible amount of Apple products for the main reason that they just work. There are issues from time to time, but they always fix them. They don’t just give up on products when the new model comes out next year. The typical Apple product seems to get updates for at least 5 years. That’s a long time these days. This AirPort Extreme was so easy to setup, and I feel like my family has a safe connection considering Apple’s legendary attention to security and privacy. Just plug it in, download the AirPort Utility app, choose a network name and password, and you’re in business with long range, fast internet. There is a robust suite of additional settings and features if you’re a technical user as well. Easy. Period.

I got this to replace my ever crashing net gear router from charter. WOW. What a big difference. If you have apple products it's super fast and easy to set up. NEVER crashes. Not too many setting, but you won't miss them

I have been extremely frustrated with our ISP blaming all my problems on them. I now realize a lot of the problems were due to insufficient strength of my previous Linksys ($130) router, Comcast supplied router and another Linksys router ($90). The Airport Extreme has the best of both worlds: 802.11a/b/g/n and 802.11ac. Now our whole family's devices are working great! This includes - 3 desktop computers, 2 Kindles, 2 iPads, 2 iPods and 3 phones - on any given day. Initial setup of this unit was fast, easy and worked seamlessly. We regularly see 3x faster speeds. And, the only thing we changed was this router! All the old stuff is now in the trash. I've recommended my friends bite the bullet and buy one of these routers. I'm sold on it.

I wasted time and money with netgear's "top of the line" for about a month before they told me I needed to buy extended service to make all my ' devices that used to connect connect again.... "It's only another $100/year" Literally what I was told after spending $200 on the device originally.... Enters Best Buy and Apple to the rescue!!! Best buy took care of the exchange no problem, went home connect the airport to my modem, jumped on my phone, was prompted for set up, and I was up and running! That was 2 months ago and I have not had a single issue. If you use apple products, stop wasting your time with inferior products that need tech support just to function, get the airport! You won't be disappointed.

I had the previous version of this and purchased this to extend my range. Man I can tell you the range is at least double from the previous Airport Extreme which makes this a great value for money. To put this in perspective I used to have a previous generation Airport Extreme with another airport (mini) to extend the range to my living room. The New airport Extreme reaches my living room without an extender which definitely can save money from buying additional devices. With the 802.11AC it is very fast on the few devices that I have that can support this speed. Finally, The Apple Airports are very simple to install and setup and extremely stable. I used to have a medium to high end Netgear network in my home which has a much more complex setup procedure. Once that was setup I found myself having to reset the network semi periodically for some reason. So although this was less expensive, I would recommend spending the extra money for a more stable and consistent Apple network. The Apple Network rarely needs to be touched and if I do want change things around I can do it right from the app on my phone. So Easy. This is a simple case of you get what you pay for. I highly recommend. It's speed is comparable to other high end routers but for the same money, you get a super simple, small and stable network that can easily be extended or changed with ease.

We bought our last router 10 years ago, so it was definitely time to upgrade. The AirPort Extreme has increased our internet speed and the range is much better in our house, eliminating the spots where the signal was not very strong. The 802.11ac is very fast on my iPhone as well, and the simultaneous dual band signal means the router effortlessly chooses the band needed for each device in our house. Set-up took me only a couple minutes and worked right out of the box. Even though Apple routers cost a bit more, they are well worth the expense!

We have been using the Comcast Cable WiFi router for over a year now. I was getting 28mbps which is very disappointing. I'm paying for 60 mbps, but I knew it would be a hassle to have Comcast fix the issue. I decided to give back their WiFi router, and handle it myself. I bought the AirPort extreme after doing research and based on my happiness with other Apple products; it did not disappoint. Setup was super easy. All devices connected easily to the new network with a stronger signal (the new router sits near the old one). My WiFi speeds doubled! It's a little more expensive than other routers, but the ease of setup, increased speed, and reliability of Apple is worth it to me.

I bought this to extend the range and the power of the wifi in my three story house. As soon as it was up and running my signal went exponentially faster. Faster than it has ever been based on the speed test. However, the party chat function of the XBOX One was disabled due to a setting on the AirPort. I do not have the patience to learn how to fix this issue, and I did try. I took it back and got the NetGear Nighthawk. The wifi was NOT as fast, but the party chat works again so the rest of the family was happy. I would say 100% buy the airport if A) nobody uses party chat on your xbox/pc/PS4 or B) You are savvy with this type of technology.

This router replaced an 8-year old Apple Airport Express base station. Performance to date has been great, firmware updates are intuitive and easy. While I'm sure there are less expensive wireless routers on the market that offer the same reliable performance, I went with this model due to Apple's simplicity. Out of the box and up and running in less than 5 mins. Great, reliable and easy to use product for someone who doesn't want to have to be a networking/technical guru in order to set up their home wireless network.

I moved up from the 5th generation to this 6th generation Airport so it wasn't a huge leap up but there are an array of nice features. The AC technology has been great although right now the only compatible device i have is the iPhone 6 it is definitely noticeably faster then before. As usual setup is straightforward using it on my Mac with the Airport Utility software and although the Airport Utility has removed several features over time it's still has a decent amount of advanced customization but not as many as compared to some newer routers but I went with the Airport due to its simplicity and set it and forget it function.

The AirPort Extreme Base Station delivers what we've come to expect from Apple. It's easy to setup, features a clean design and has a small footprint. While it doesn't have as many ports as comparably priced routers, the range and performance has been reliable thus far. And the AirPort Utility makes it easy to configure.

I have tried Cisco, netgear & Asus. By far this router is the best all around. AC speeds are 4x faster then my N router(5th gen AirPort Extreme). Much better signal strength and super easy Setup. Basically plug n play! Works great with multiple xbox's, ps4, tablets, smart phones, laptop, desktops & home monitoring. Plays well with All devices. Highly recommended. I still love my 5th gen AirPort Extreme but can't beat this 6th gen on signal strength and wifi speeds. Both 5th and 6th gen AE's have gigabit Ethernet ports so no real difference there. Never have to reboot them & they just work without headaches lol.

I'm not strictly anti-Apple, but I like choices and open-architecture that Windows PCs and Android phones/tablets can give you (ex. want a phone w/a screen larger than 4.5"? Wait til Apple says you can have one - otherwise feel free to choose from any number of Android and even Windows phones!). So besides a single iPad that's used by the baby and as an occasional Uverse remote, I didn't own a single i-item by choice. After being let down constantly by the new AC routers out there (Linksys and Netgear) that would constantly drop out or hang (seriously not more than a day or two at a time). I have an older Uverse 2wire modem that I'm connecting to the router/AP via DMZ-plus mode (basically giving it an open port to the internet). Uverse support figured it would require a factory reset of the modem and reconfiguration and then please "try again" with the other routers. Not having time for that, I read some reviews about the AirPort Extreme and decided to try it. Setup was easy (via an iPad) though I was underwhelmed by the configuration options. If you're used to looking at the advanced settings of other routers, don't bother... However, the most important thing is that it has been working flawless since day 1! Not a hiccup at all with tons of devices (multiple laptops, gaming PC, PS3, Xbox360, 4 mobile phones, Ooma, 2 drop cams, 2 other security cameras, etc.). It's been more than 2 months and I am nothing but impressed. For a device like this, I want to set it up and walk away knowing it's working all the time (especially since I use it for home/baby monitoring).

When my wife and I each upgraded to an IPhone 6 plus, the internet connection seemed to crawl at home using a 3rd generation airport time capsule. I was told by a Best Buy rep that the old time capsule router did not have the 802.11ac standard which would triple the speed of a wifi connection at home. He was right. I set it up within 5 minutes and the phone wifi connection was not only much faster but longer (1000 feet) and I could connect anywhere on 3 levels of our 6000 sq. ft house. This router made the difference but curious how it will compete against the Google OnHub which recently came out.

I bought this newest generation AirPort Extreme to replace a second generation unit that had reached a point of being a little too outdated for my needs. Having other current and up-to-date devices from Apple, my old AirPort Extreme still worked fine, but it obviously lacked all the newer features and advancements that have been developed over the years. This newest model is great and made a big difference with my wi-fi signal and speed, which improved dramatically. I figured since my old Airport was still working, I configured it to extend my wi-fi signal downstairs in areas of the house that had weak/dead spots. I'm thinking I'll eventually get the current generation model of the Airport Express in the somewhat near future to finally retire my older original Airport. I read the reviews on this newest model before deciding to purchase. Obviously being an Apple kinda person and having various other products like the iPhone, iPad, MacBook Pro, Mac Pro, AppleTV, etc.. I didn't have any type of set-up or configuration issues whatsoever.. It was literally a plug-n-play installation. The new router was auto-detected after first being plugged in. Then a series of options were presented to me which included transferring my current router settings from my old AirPort, to the new unit. I did actually have to use the AirPort Utility App afterwards for a few other settings that my old Airport didn't have. Like a separate guest wi-fi network, etc
