In typical Apple fashion, the design of the 3TB Time capsule is solid. I upgraded from my last time capsule (500GB drive) which was starting to show signs of end of life... the router portion worked, but when I reset it, sometimes it wouldn't come back up. I try to be forward thinking in my purchases looking at what can help me the most for the longest possilble time - more bang for my buck so to speak. I had my eye on this and the opportunity came up and I'm glad I purchased it. It was easy to set up. Since I came from using my previous time capsule, I already had my configuration of all the settings saved in a file. I imported just what I needed and I was back in business with minimal set up. The guest network is awesome too, so when others come over you can simply give them a password to join and they are on without getting all up in your home network business. Overall great product. I would recommend anyone looking for a back up solution to get this!

Product works as described. The initial set-up of the unit was not as simple as the directions portrayed. However, once set-up was complete, it works great. The unit is being used to back up three macs. The wireless network provided by the unit is strong throughout the house.

If you are reading this, then you are wondering: "is this thing really worth the loot?!" It is. This bad girl extends a web of invisible digital delight over the entirety of our humble establishment. The lovely lady of the home can meow Netflix her pretty little booty off in the bed without me having to reboot the crusty old router and listen to her commentary on the buffering lag. It's a nice peaceful existence. Oh, and the backups? Oh yes this thing backs all that booty up and I don't even have to worry about it. Another cool thing, zippity zip an external drive into the USB on the back of this baby and get at it from any system in your house. I'm rocking a solid 6 TBs of storage from the bathroom. I haven't hooked into an Apple TV yet, but I understand these girls will play well together like a couple of shecats prancing around the savannah all mimbly pimbly happy like. So do it, and be happy right meow.

I have an iMac and MacBook Pro Retina. This time capsule makes backups effortless. It simply backs up my computers wirelessly while I am working. There is also a way to use it as a stand alone media storage device too.

This router is a great choice for anyone that wants a simple network attached storage solution and a great router and wireless access point for his or her home. If you consider the base cost of the router compared to other 802.11ac compliant routers, this is priced well, with the addition of 3 terabytes of storage. I have this Time Capsule on the entry level of my home, and I get strong wireless signal on the second floor, in the basement and even on my back patio. I have trouble receiving good cellular connectivity in my house, but outdoors it is fine. Despite this, this router puts a strong enough signal out that I have no issues. I would recommend the Time Capsule to anyone who wants storage and a great home router, or the Airport Extreme to anyone that just needs a router and wireless AP.

I had the original Time capsule and needed more storage space and this fit the bill perfectly. It was easy to set up from the beginning and I have had no issues since then. The range is much better than the original Time Capsule.

You are getting a great product for the money, but it is way over price when compared to other back ups, Wifi set up 1-2-3 & I haven't had any loss of wifi like I get with my providers router. I would recommend this highly.

I bought the time capsule mainly for backing up my macbook pro but I like the strength of the wi-fi also. The unit looks good on my bookshelf and is well designed. It was easy to setup and get going. I love it!

Apple's 3TB time capsule is a beauty out of the box. Extremely easy to set up, seamless connectivity with iMac for backup on a vast hard drive via apple's time machine software, and a blazing fast wireless router to boot! This product has met or exceeded all of my expectations thus far. So why not a perfect rating? First, it has not (yet) passed the requisite test of time. As an external hard drive, it will need to prove it can go the distance without failing and compromising data. While I hope it can, the fact that the time capsule doesn't have an off switch vexes me. Hard drives tend to do better with frequent power-down breaks, so I've connected this to a power strip to serve this function. Unfortunately, this means I cannot connect to the internet during these nap times if I want to Netflix on my tv, web browse with my phone or tablet, etc. My ultimate upgrade? Let apple devise a system which completely powers down the hard drive unit when not needed, while still allowing for Wifi service when wanted, and a power down function to conserve energy and reduce wear and tear when neither is required. Having said that, apple's time capsule 3TB is still a winner!

I purchased this to go along with the purchase of my new 27" iMac. Being an Apple product, I was not the least bit surprised with the ease of setting it up. I disabled my wireless from my main Verizon FiOS router, ran the Cat5e cable to the Airport Time Capsule, and set up the wireless to run through the Airport Time Capsule. You can also easily set up a guest network that enables guests to access the internet, but not your files on your network. Once my iMac arrived, I set that up to back up to the Airport Time Capsule using OS X built in Time Machine app. I would definitely highly recommend this item. This item is easy to use whether you are a technology guru or technologically challenged.

My husband has had a career in IT. He is the engineering type. Me... I've done high tech marketing, sales and consulting since the advent of the PC. We both are fairly adept when it comes to making computer components work... but that doesn't mean we want to spend hours screwing around with devices at home. That is the genius about Apple products, particularly the Time Capsule. You pretty much plug it in, turn it on, do a few things and it works. It can't be much easier unless when you open the box out pops someone to do it for you. ;) It's that easy!

I am intimidated by high tech because I so infrequently need to use it on my own. I was very pleased to find that using this product out of the box was VERY easy. Getting it on-line and connected to all of my home equipment was a snap. I feel like the price is right for the quality, amount of storage and it has proven to be dependable. I work with a lot of large media files, this has allowed me to store all that I need for work and personal use. No glitches in these first two months of use! Good looking unit, attractive on the desk!

Bought this 3tb time capsule to replace older gen 2tb capsule. Design is improved with a tower shape to raise the antennas instead of being flat. Also more antennas in the router for better signal. Finally, the hard drive being a solid state flash disc is so much faster than the spinning hard drive of the older gen model for time capsule backups etc. highly recommend. Only wish Apple continued to seep and advance this tech instead of disbanding the router division.

I got this as a backup hard drive mostly. It has 3 terabytes, which they told me was all I ever would need. Haven't filled it up yet, maybe 10%. But it does have extra USB ports that you can plug extra drives into, making it expandable (unlike most every other Mac product). For Mac products though, you pay for the quality of the product and the workmanship and the high end parts. It also works as a wireless router. The install and setup was a breeze. Basically plug in, recognize, put in some time to install and follow the instructions. I have had some issues with connection where my computer will, at times, not find or recognize it. I have a Mac so it seems there shouldn't be any problems like this. However, for the money it's probably going to be reliable. When my hard drive crashed last year on my PC I discovered the importance of multiple forms of backup.
