I have always purchased hp computers. My last hp laptop was purchased at the same time my son got his and they both stopped working the same week 4.5 years after purchase. Coincidence I say not. Mac is light, easy to use, no worry about virus protection and it will most likely outlast any Hp. Worth the extra money in the long run. I wish i had converted sooner. I love this product and my son bought one 6 months ago and loves it as well!

Outstanding battery life - I regularly see 8+ hours away from an outlet, more if I'm not using the internet. Impressive performance given its power-saving CPU. 4 GB of RAM may seem meager compared to a lot of the PC competition but don't concern yourself: OS X manages RAM much more efficiently than Windows so this is not a con. The solid state drive will change your life if you have not used one before - incredibly responsive compared to the spinning platter hard drives we've all been using for the past 30 years.
This is my second MBA - bought to replace my 2012 because I had some great coupons, my first Apple was a 2008 Macbook Pro 15". Excellent resale value, durability of the aluminum chassis, superior build quality, and outstanding battery life keep me recommending the MBA to anyone who asks - the new Lenovo Yoga 3 is the only machine that comes close in terms of quality and desirability, but I am still not ready to pay $1300 for an otherwise unremarkable Windows laptop.

I am graduating this summer, so I thought of upgrading from my 17 inch vaio with windows 7. After some research, I was undecided between the Lonovo Y50 and the Macbook air. I settled for the macbook air, and I am very happy with my decision.
I use this to primarily write papers/grants, etc. I like the portability (its incredibly light!), but has i5 power. 4 GB ram is just fine, but I had MS word from office 2011 crashing on me sometimes while editing my 300 page dissertation, but that was pushing its limits quite a bit. It doesn't ever get hot like I read in some of the reviews, is totally silent, wakes up from sleep in a second, and is totally light (means no back pain in carrying it around!).
I also got a student deal that took 200 bucks off of the price!
Overall I am very happy with the purchase.

Writing Machine

I bought this, calling it my new "writing machine," but I totally lied. I'm using it for writing and work stuff, but I'm also using it for everything I decided to keep my pc laptop for. Procrastinating by watching Hulu and Netflix without moving for a solid ten hours, being light enough, but also large enough to have wonderful quality viewing, and fast enough to do all that plus store a ton of documents that are half thought out ideas. And then when I actually write one it, I realize I did get my new writing machine (four chapters and counting in a month, woo!) even though I really just wanted a fancy toy.
I love it and recommend it for being a nice and light, powerful laptop.
(Next I'm going to get the Pro and try it, but I've yet to think of a good enough reason to justify spending the oh-my-god-what-even amount of money for it. Someday . . .)

I bought this for my son who is headed off to college this fall. It's light weight, thin design and battery lasts all day with normal useage. I recommend a cover to prevent accidental damage as well as the Thule carrying case. It may be overkill but for as much as this laptop cost, the extra $50 in protective gear is worth it. This is our second Macbook and I have to say, if it's as good as the first one, I will keep buying them. Our first was the Macbook Pro and after 3+ years, it's still running as good as the day I bought it. No issues whatsoever and it gets heavy useage as this one is kept in the kitchen for all to use.
Regarding the extended warranty, I didn't buy it because they are too expensive, in my opinion and all my Apple products (pad/phone/laptop) have been very dependable. I'm not an exclusive Apple person by any means but I can't complain about my personal experiences so far.

I have had this computer now for a couple of months and couldn't be happier with its performance. It is speedy, light and really easy to use. While I am an apple fan this is my first computer by them and I can't wait to learn about all the things this can do.

have had a mid 2011 macbook air that I bought when it first come out. It has been super reliable and a trusty staple in everyday life. There have been numerous improvements to the Air since 2011 like better battery life, faster storage, and a better processor. With this update It was finally time for me to upgrade to this newer model. I am absolutely pleased with the improvements. My OS is so much faster and more responsive on this Air than my older Air. It really speeds up my productivity.
I have owned a few windows laptops and have never had one last as long as an apple product. Sure the initial cost is higher, but the product last longer(IMO anyway) and has a much higher resale value when you do finally decide to upgrade. I also find OS X much more pleasant to use and much more stable.

The battery life is astounding. I go days doing work, watching Netflix, etc. without the need for a charge. It is light and easy to throw in a small satchel. The solid state drive makes for a fast machine and no heat from use. Add in Apple OS reliability, I have a machine that consistently does what it is supposed to every time I open it; I do my work (or play) and then put it away. Repeat as necessary...without issue.

Easy to use, light weight to carry, long-lasting battery, connects with all other Apple products, i.e., iPod, iPad, iPhone, etc through iTunes or Apple Cloud No problems with malware or Trojan horses. If you use a PC and make a "paradigm shift" to a Mac, beware that everything is a polar opposite such as close or minimization windows minimization but is easier in my humble opinion. There are many more features that are technically too much to list. I love Finder!

I use my Mac primarily for surfing the web, responding to emails and some light "office work". It is very fast, has all the memory I need and seems very durable with the aluminum body. It is also very light which I LOVE! I wish I had broke up with Windows years ago and made the switch. There's been a bit of a learning curve going from Windows to Mac but it's nothing you can't handle and learn with Google! This Mac ROCKS!

I have been a Microsoft user all my life, so I was extremely apprehensive about spending this amount of money on a device I wasn't sure if I was going to like. The main reason I got a macbook is because I wanted a reliable computer, and I do not like the Windows 7 operating system.
I have had my laptop for about two weeks now, and I do really like it. Switching operating systems took ALOT of getting used to. Google was my best friend.
The computer has things laid out in a format that is quick and easy; It is also extremely customizable. Sometimes the tracking pad doesn't respond the way I'd like it to, and I miss the shortcuts available with windows (ctrl+f, page up, page down, ctrl+c, backspace (there is only a delete button)), but I'm sure those are things I will get used to over time.
Overall, I would say it's a good purchase.

This computer is fantastic! It's super lightweight, has a fast processing speed, and looks sharp! I'm super scared of dropping it, but I've gotten a case/cover for it, and am hoping that will help if/when a drop occurs.
I thought I would miss not having a CD drive, but so far I haven't even noticed it.

I was a bit skeptical going from a PC to a Mac; but I'm so glad I made the leap!! It took little time to figure out the system and I have never been happier. The computer is lightweight, fast, easy to operate and stays cool. I would suggest to anyone to take the leap and move to Mac!!

I was thinking of purchasing this laptop for a few weeks. Great speed, storage, and easy to use. It was right around $1,200, but on a random Friday it went on sale for $899. Couldn't pass up a deal like that. I love this laptop and would recommend it even at $1,200.
