For several years now, I've owned an ION turntable. Yes, it was cheap but it got the job done. One thing that I've noticed, however, is that its frequency response has always been rather poor. Bass was incredibly low and I could hear the record playing at the needle, which always struck me as odd. But at the time I bought it specifically to do some record-to-CD conversions and I could always run it through an equalizer while mastering the audio to bump of the lower frequencies. This past year, I designed and built a new entertainment meant specifically to hold all of my LPs and 45s, the vast majority of which are from the 1980s, and I decided to buy a new turntable to start listening to them again. Knowing that AT turntable was always a highly rated unit, I decided to go for it. Two things immediately jumped out at me when everything was done. The first is that this beast is HEAVY compared to the cheapy ION turntable. The ION weighed at most 9 pounds, which was fine for the roll-out shelf I had it on. But the AT turntable came in at a whopping (relatively speaking) 23 pounds! The unit was definitely designed to stay seated and minimize any external vibrations. I ended up replacing the rolling shelf supports in my A/V rack with heavy-duty supports, just to be safe. The second (and most important for me) is that the bass was much, much stronger. Yes, the overall audio quality was superior, but after playing one track from "Rubber Soul" I said to my wife, "I actually hear bass from my records now!" I know that records are coming back (although I'm not naive enough to think that they'll be anywhere near as popular as they were before), but at least now I have a turntable that makes vinyl worth listening to again.

I have wanted this for a while and just finally broke down and ordered it. Merry Christmas to me! This is amazing. The sound quality is stellar and I am so thrilled with this purchase. I have been looking at this for a while knowing it was the best rated player and when it came up for a $70 off sale, I couldn’t wait any longer. It’s worth every dime, even at full price. I had some records that wouldn’t play at all on my “starter record player” but they play just fine and I can hear more detail in the records now too. Amazing!!! I was complimented 3 x from checkout to the door about how great this product is by employees and no doubt they were right.

I had been looking for a TT to replace my 1961 Dual 1009 for about a year. I reviewed most all TT's in the $300 to $500 range. It finely came down to between a Fluance RT81 and the AT 120. I choose the AT because of the plus or minus 10% speed adjustment and the quartz speed lock feature, the fact it could play all 3 speeds and it came with the AT95 cartridge and stylus. First of all, the packaging is top notch. I think that the package could be dropped from 10 feet onto concrete without any damage to the TT. Also, the TT is fairly heavy which I think says something about the quality. The set up is straight forward and fairly easy. As far as operation and sound are concerned, this TT is a Precision TT and the sound is excellent from the AT95 cartridge and stylus. Another nice feature is when you push the stop button, the platter stops immediately without having to touch the platter like I had to do with my Dual. That thing would spin forever. The needle tracks great even at very high volume and that is a must for a good stereo system. Believe me, you will not be disappointed if you buy this TT. Oh, did I mention that this TT is beautiful. I was going to get the black one but it was out of stock and got the silver one and I'm glad I did. The TT looks like a lit Christmas tree when you turn it on!

This product has wonderful sound and is easy to use. Having records from the 60's and 70's that we haven't played in over 20 years, you forget how fantastic these recordings sound back in the day before all the digital sound. Highly recommended.

this is a nice turn table, nice heavy direct drive, designed after the famous SL 1200 by technics, looks about the same as well, being a direct drive unit thats a no brainer, has very accurate strobe light and functions well. I added a weighted chrome record clamp which helped the sound quality, I recommend this unit , Its fun to kick back and play vinyl, brings back memories, and this being usb you can run into your pc if wanted to. love it!

Purchased the AT LP-120 turntable about one month ago and have not regretted the decision one bit.Have jumped back into vinyl with a passion after being away for 25 years. Only took about 30 minutes for me to set up, online videos were helpful in addressing the balancing of the tone arm. If you have considered investing in a professional style, direct drive turntable, consider this unit which will not require a bank note to purchase.

Back to Hearing My Vinyl Collection

Was looking for a turntable to replace my record player that I had for many years. I finally found one with substance in the A/T-LP120USB. This is a solid piece of electronic gear. I feel that I will be enjoying it for many years to come. Love the appearance and design. It is feature laden with benefits like pitch control, 78rpm capability, built in phono preamp and USB output. While I am not likely to use the transfer feature to my computer anytime in the near future, I am pleased that I have that option if I choose to use it. My vinyl collection sat dormant in the back of a closet for a few years and I had even put my record player in storage. Well, I just had a hankering to hear that crisp vinyl sound again and this turntable certainly delivers. I researched several online sources including manufacturers, resellers, big box stores and blogs and kept hearing that the A/T LP120USB really delivers. So I pulled the trigger and placed my order with Best Buy's online store. Their free shipping had the box to my front door in a matter of days. Once out of the box, it was an easy set up, just a few minutes and I was able to drop the needle on some classic rock, jazz, classical and movie soundtracks that I have not heard in years. Using the A/T LP120USB is like the old days, enjoying pulling the record out of the sleeve, plopping it on the turntable and cueing it up for about 20 minutes of sonic pleasure. The sound is excellent and it delivers the range that I expected. I even enjoy manually lifting the tone arm when one side is complete and flipping it over to the other side of the record. Makes me feel more engaged with my music. If you are new to the vinyl experience or, like me, have been hoarding an unplayed record collection, I heartily recommend the A/T LP120USB. It offers outstanding sound, solid construction and ease of use. Thinking of getting one for my son so he can listen to his burgeoning record collection. Just order one and enjoy. I finally did.

I bought this thing...It was ok out of the box. Then I did some research about the thing. Unless you want the USB or you don't have a preamp....leave it alone... I yanked out the entire preamp and soldered a whole new RCA chord to the tone arm. I have an Adcom GTP-500 preamp. I unscrewed the entire motor..under the platter...I floated the whole motor on foam. Leave the screws out.. I put a rubber mat on the platter and on top of that a cork mat. You need to raise the platter up to get the tone arm level with the platter...The tone arm on zero is still too high. As for the anti skate...a little sketchy....You really have to adjust it by ear...Get a scale to measure the tracking weight. Get a protractor and a cartridge overhang gauge. Put some "O" rings on the tone arm, to reduce resonance.....Buy the heavier counter weight.. Get a solid, heavy table to put the turntable on. Level the table...then level the turntable. Get a record clamp for the spindle....Now...mine rocks!!!! Got it hooked up to an Adcom GFA-555 high current amp with some JSE Infinite Slope model 2 speakers...Sweet sound...For the price...a great turn table...

Never thought I would have a turntable again and I am so glad we purchased one. This one in particular is affordable and high quality, easy to set up and has a retro look. My records sound awesome on it. Comes with software that is slightly behind newer updated versions that are out there for recording to mp3. Directions on how to work with this software are not intuitive, but who wants to listen to MP3 when you can listen to a higher quality sounding lp?

You can easily spend 10 or 20 times as much for a turntable, but unless your name is Bezos or Zuckerberg or ?, you don’t need to. This turntable and cartridge make both new and old records sound great. This is the second one I have purchased - my first one burned up in a wildfire, along with all my records (and just about everything else I had). It is very easy to set up, and did I mention it sounds great? My appreciation for it is made even better by Best Buy’s price-match policy, which allowed me to get the sale price even though I bought it a week or two before it went on sale for $50 less. Right on Best Buy

I was concerned about the price, but it is worth every cent. The set-up is, for me, very complicated, but with patience and perseverance got it going, and the quality of sound is fantastic. My ancient LPs, scratched as they are, sound almost brand new. You can't go wrong with this one.

I recently purchased a new Yamaha RX A-1070 receiver replacing a 10-year old + Sony receiver. Like many of you, I have a large collection of LP's that I had not had an change to play for years; this seemed like the perfect time to take care of that problem. I read several product reviews on the Best Buy site, and I determined that this was the correct product for me, and so far, it has worked like a champ! As I set it up, you could tell that it is a quality product, quite heavy and set up for heavy use. I have had it for just over a week and it has been great hearing my LP's again. Combined with the new receiver, we really have a great set up. So far, no issues with the player; the pop-up light is very handy for finding the right track on the LP, but the player does not have a return mechanism, so be close to the player near the end of the album! Very happy so far!

I was looking to replace my Sony Turntable with something more professional and higher quality and after doing much research i decided this was the best for the value and i was right. after replacing the needle with a eplitical high def one it is by far the best sounding turntable ive ever had. my records are clear, crisp and im hearing things i never heard before. the setup is a little tricky as you have to adjust the weight, the needle tracking force, align the needle but after that, its very well worth it. i love the pitch control and direct drive as my records dont sound to slow or too fast anymore. i wish it was automatic but thats my only complaint. ill have to fool with the mp3 function more as i had some problems but other then that, for the price, its the best professional turntable out there without having to spend half a grand or more.

This is a great turntable for the money. Solid, heavy & seems to be well built. Detailed instructions made assembly fairly easy. My only complaint is that it does not lift up the needle at the end of the record, but most high-end turntables don't have this feature. Works well with both USB connection or RCA connection to a stereo system. Did not use Audacity software. Instead, Viny Studio software works great for transferring to your computer and is very easy to use.

I purchased this turntable for my daughter for a birthday present and was pleasantly surprised with the quality and workmanship. Don't let the price scare you, you get what you pay for the features are worth the extra price. This direct drive monster looks as good as it sounds, The pre-amp configuration is a real plus as many of the new integrated amplifiers do not include a phono input. Set up was easy enough and straightforward felt like I was in a time warp as vinyl was very popular in my day. If you're looking for a rock solid good sounding addition to your audio system I think this may be it.
