    Could Be Better.

This is good to use if you mostly already have a studio that's padded or if you don't need it for much more than using it in the stationairy positions shown but when you need to switch things up and use it on a boom mic or recording a guitar it doesn't work so well. It does a decent job of isolating the mic but this isn't a reflection filter. It's a foam panel infront of a closed panel so it's not filtering anything. Most effects to be heard are about the same as you experience if you recorded in closet or other isolated place. I'd go with Reflexion filter or Soundkitz AE-F if you want more.

I just bought one of these for doing vocal tracks in Garage Band, and wow, what a difference it made! I was just singing into a condenser mic on a stand in my basement, and once I put the mudguard up in front of it, I was able to get much more accurate vocal tracks. I would highly recommend, for less than a hundred bucks!!
