This movie's so awesome on Blu-Ray. The picture is perfectly crisp & the sound is good. I've always enjoyed this particular film from the other 3. The music, the Gotham City classical look, the acting is pretty good.

    Amazing 4K Transfer.

Having grown up with this film and watching it on VHS, DVD and Blu-Ray, I was supremely excited yet nervous about how the 4K transfer would be handled. Having watched over 100 UHDs, I can honestly say this blew me away! The resolution, WCG, HDR and deep black levels combine to produce an image that was almost unfathomable for a film almost 30 years old. Also, despite an outpouring of audio purists cries regarding the upgraded Atmos soundtrack, I was absolutely floored by it- and in a positive way. The height channels are used effectively, and the bat plane crash is absolutely insane! All told, this is (like Batman 1989) one of my Top 5 favorite UHDs and I would almost be willing to buy it twice just as a token of thanks for such a magnificent job handling one of my all-time favorite movies.

25th Anniversary for this Batman Classic

Released in 1992 Batman Returns showed Tim Burton tapping into the deepest, darkest corners of his imagination and transposing them onto the world of Batman. Is the movie bleak and at times nightmarish? Yes. Is it for kids? No. I would say it definitely is a hard PG-13 in the way the new Dark Knight trilogy is more oriented toward mature audience members. But in many ways it represents the purest comic book adaptation put to screen in that it celebrates the alternate reality that Batman lives in and makes it feel like a world that is deeply troubled and scary and needs heroes like Batman to help bring law and order to society. Danny DeVito is the definitive Penguin and Michelle Pfeiffer owns the role of Catwoman. The blu ray looks and sounds fantastic and preserves the twisted, grotesque vision of Gotham that was seen in the theatrical exhibition and is accompanied by a meaningful set of extra features. Highly Recommended for all Batman and comic book movie fans!

You can actually see the difference in picture quality of the 4k disc vs regular blu-ray. The colors are more pronounced and distinct, the sound has been redone adding the height channels to give a more room filling sound. The sound effects are not the same as what was in the original blu-ray release.

The two best Batman movies of all time are Nolan’s the Dark Night (w/ Heath Ledger) and this one (w/ Michele Pfiefer). And those two actors are the reason these two films are at the top. This is Michele Pfiefer’s best performance - and she’s had quite a few. It’s a must see classic.

Another fabulous transfer of a catalog title to 4K UHD by Warner Brothers. I know it gets said a lot, but it was almost like watching this film for the first time again. The 4K increase in detail is great, really showing off the attention to set design and other details that was apparent on this production. Also, the HDR color grading gave the film a depth I have never seen, as well as highlighting colors and shadows to really pull you into the film.

For anyone who grew up in the 90’s, Batman Returns was likely a movie you watched and would flip flop between loving it and hating it because even though it’s gorgeously shot, Batman doesn’t do very much in it. With that being said, seeing this movie upgraded to crystal clear 4K is amazing. The darkness and snow really helps boost the contrast and makes the film pop off the screen. And the improved audio really helps boost the bombastic score. It’s also great that this version comes with all the previous special features AND a free digital copy.

The monstrous Penguin (Danny DeVito), who lives in the sewers beneath Gotham, joins up with wicked shock-headed businessman Max Shreck (Christopher Walken) to topple the Batman (Michael Keaton) once and for all. But when Shreck's timid assistant, Selina Kyle (Michelle Pfeiffer), finds out, and Shreck tries to kill her, she is transformed into the sexy Catwoman. She teams up with the Penguin and Shreck to destroy Batman, but sparks fly unexpectedly when she confronts the caped crusader.

This is a movie that I have come to like more and more over the years. The standout performances, and the witty dialogue carry this movie through. It seems you crave these things a lot more when comparing it to the current crop of movies, and suddenly find it in the older films."Batman Returns" feels this way. Character over Spectacle. The 4K blu ray is a marked improvement over the 1080. It's literally eye candy. Everything just pops. The sound also has an increased rumble and thump to it. This is a must have.

Picture looked great. Audio was good as well. I found it a lot easier to make out the dialogue. I know the changed sound effects bother some people but it wasn't as big a deal to me.

Though not as real-world amazing as "The Dark Knight", this second addition to the beginning of the Caped Crusader's first reign on the big screen was an exciting, eye-popping experience that really made me happy to be a fan of the Big, Bad Bat. Keaton was to the big screen Bats as Conroy was to the animated Bats; no one could touch his style and it really shined here. Michelle Pfeiffer still looked amazing as the re-imagined Catwoman and who could forget DeVito as the Penguin. This film does, however, get a bit too Burton-eque as the zaniness gets a bit out of hand & the sets look really artificial in spots(thankfully not as bad as the ones on Schumacher's "Batman & Robin", which covered virtually the entire movie. Not a great memory.). But the action and wonderful score from Danny Elfman make you forget all of that and enjoy this as it's supposed to be: a comic book brought awesomely to life, way before such things it became the norm. Almost thirty years and I still can't get enough of seeing this! Wonderful movie.....and no "Holy this and that, Batman" required!!

Synopsis: Gotham City faces two monstrous criminal menaces: the bizarre, sinister Penguin (Danny DeVito) and the slinky, mysterious Catwoman (Michelle Pfeiffer). Can Batman (Michael Keaton) battle two formidable foes at once? Especially when one wants to be mayor and the other is romantically attracted to Gotham's hero? Like the 1989 groundbreaking original, Batman Returns is directed by the wizardly Tim Burton. And like the first blockbuster, it's a dazzling adventure that leaves you breathless.

Great follow up to Batman directed by Tim Burton. This movie has so much going on but balances varies plots and characters to excellence. Tim Burton in his creative prime. The casting choices are top notch Keaton returning as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Danny Devito as The Penguin, and Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman. Loved this movie as a child and it still resonates today as an adult. As only the classics can do. Highly recommend!

Now this is demo worthy! Plenty of 35mm films that were made around the same time have had a decent 4k upgrade, but this feature can really show how an upgrade can look when putting the right amount of work into it. This looked great. The snow and gotham city looked great. Cat woman was more stunning than ever. Beautiful disc here. I am very glad i decided to add this to the collection.

I'm one of the few who found the 1992 follow up to the original "Batman" to be a superior sequel. The UHD presentation of the Tim Burton film is a knockout. The picture and audio presentations are vastly improved over all previous editions. The Blu-ray included in the set is also a remastered edition, which also improves upon previous home video editions. Highly recommended!

I have bought this movie many times, I have owned it on VHS, DVD, and Bluray! It was always one of my favorites when I was a kid and still to this day one of my favorites as an adult. I actually have a tradition where I watch it every year on Christmas Eve. I couldn't resist buying this one, the cover looked fantastic and I love the feel of the steelbook cases. Great product, great movie.

I remember being a kid and excited when this was coming to theaters. I walked away not sure how I felt. It is even more dark in content than the first film. After rewatching it, I appreciate it more. Superhero movies were this dark back in the day. It's amazing how they pushed the envelope with this one. This 4K is a stunner. The movie is not without its faults.

This movie glows on 4K Ultra HD ! My only complaint is that the designers changed the killer bat on Batman's chest emblem from the first Batman movie! This movie should have made more money at the theater but Tim Burton made it too dark of a film! This was not for kids at all! The Penguin is too ugly with that pale white make-up & some blood like lips & fangs! Yuck!

This is fantastic UHD upgrade over the old blu-ray. The HDR color palette really shines with some deep saturated primary colors like the Christmas tree near the beginning of the film. Great highlights and contrast. The Dolby ATMOS track is more of a modest upgrade, but adds some nice overhead effects here and there as well as more low end.
