    Sounds Great, Short Battery Life

I really like this device, but over time I've found that the battery life is short and it constantly loosed connection with the bluetooth source device, I have returned this item twice and the problem persists regardless of the bluetooth source device.

Disappointed with the beats pill. Sound quality was only okay and the mesh housing on one of the sides very easily dented. It has a few nice features, but I'd go a different route.

My particular speakers have the annoying habit of disconnecting from Bluetooth soon after it's initially turn on. Should I bring it in to be fix and/or exchange

I have the Jbl flip and it sounds better than the pill. I do Like the size of the pill compared to the jbl. I just expected a little more from beats

To be honest, the reason why I tried it was because it was 25% off. Now I'm glad I did. I use it while I'm in the shower, working on my car, or just hanging outside.

Bought it to carry with me when I travel. Great sound and the ability to carry outside the house with 5 hour battery makes it nice for the tailgate time of the year

Loud and clear sound in small, portable unit

Ive only had it 3 days now and I guess the other posters above me got faulty units, Ive had none of the troubles theyve had with this product. Its everything its advertised to be! Its super small and light and easily portable with a nice protective case. Battery life is just about the longest in the class of small BT speakers. Extremely loud and clear for its size! I was in the market for a small, portable bluetooth speaker and listened to the Jambox, Big Jambox, JBL Flip, The solemate, and even the Logitech UE. I ended up narrowing it down to the JBL flip and the Beats Pill. The Pill was a little louder and clearer (to me anyway) than the JBL and seems to be made just a bit better (more solid) with a longer battery life, but its also $100 more than the JBL Flip. You will hear alot of people tell you "theres no bass" and while they are correct, relax, its normal. If you are looking at something this small and portable, they are all gonna be bass lacking. Nothing in this class of products is going to be able to produce decent bass response because of the size of their speakers (1", 2" or even 3") So, if youre looking for heavy bass response you might as well forget about a small, portable, bluetooth speaker and get a sound dock. Hope this review helps anybody comsidering this product or one like it. and as always, if you end up not liking it, you can always bring it back. I do recommmend that you listen to all options available and decide for yourself. Everybody's ears are different.

    Looks better than it sounds

After using a Jawbone Jambox at work two to three times a week for two years while seated at my desk I decided to give the Pill a try. Not that my Jambox didn't work anymore but because I heard the Pill in the store and liked the highs it produced and thought it was time for a change. The good; After two days I found that the Pill has an overall cleaner sound and is capable of higher volume with much less distortion. After a price match and a few reward bucks I got it for 140 out the door. Comes with a much nicer storage case than the Jambox. Looks cool. Feels like a quality device. The not so good: There is no bass! I don't listen to bass heavy music by any means more reggae and rock than anything, but even with this type of music there was an obvious lack of bass. The Pill just seems to flatten the bass during any harder bass passages. This maybe due to the lack of a passive radiator which the Jambox does have. The build quality at first seemed very good and is in many respects but the buttons seem to lack response. The power button has to be mashed until it responds and feels very mushy. During a typical five hour listening session at low to medium volume the unit started to make clipping and static type of noises. I was not alarm at this but more so that the battery needed to be charged. During this time the Bluetooth signal dropped ten times and required a full power down of the Pill. The battery life and Bluetooth bug are not too concerning because they can be fixed via firmware update like the Jambox has done. The concerning thing is there is no mention anywhere on the web of how and if firmware updates are going to be made available to the customer. All in all it is really hard to say which unit is the best buy if they are priced similarly. But with the Jambox going for as little as $129 and the Pill at $199 the better value at least for now would be the Jambox.

    Great idea, questionable quality

Loved this Pill until I started to realize I was having to reconnect it more and more frequently. Eventually every few minutes. Google it and you will see that there is a technical problem with this product. I called the company. To be honest, they did not sound very professional. They said I could "send it in" for a firmware update, but provided no details, as to how I should do it. When calling the 800 num, I always got the same person. Anyway I took it back to Best Buy. They were great. They gave me another one right away...but it had the same problem with not connecting and the charging port in the back would not turn green when the battery was fully charged. Yet if you touched it, I flickered green...something loose. Like another reviewer here, I really wanted to like and keep this product. When it worked it was awesome, and if you have a non-iOs phone then go for it...but if you have an iPhone I would save your receipt and make sure it works. So I took back the second pill. I was ready to get a JawBone, but saw a review saying that sitting on a smooth surface it rattled and moved around when bass kicks in. Also read that it did not have the volume expected. But I have never tried one. What I ended up with is the Jabra Solemate. Very pleased. Stays connected, and automatically reconnects when I turn it back on if my iPhone bluetooth is still running. Great sound. Loud if you want it. Has as many speakers as the Pill, but one is a bass bar in the back. I liked the crispness of the Pill and missed that on the Soulmate, but solved it by making sure my music player could adjust EQ (iTunes, gMusic). BOTTOM LINE: Be wary with this product if you have an iPhone...since I do have one, I cannot recommend the Pill. See my review of the Jabra Solemate for more details there. Let my pain be your gain.

    Big sound, small package

This tiny little speaker packs a big sound. I have a 2000 square foot house and turned up all the way theres no room in the house you can't hear this thing clearly. The bluetooth works great but only to about 20 uninteputed feet. If you looking for the classic Beats bass you wont find it here, but the overall built is fantastic. Its got a good heavy solid feel to it while being small and compact. And how can you not love the red & black Beats usb cable, its just so sexy.

    Do NOT buy

I returned this after one day due to the sound quality. I wanted to like this mainly because of it's size and features like speakerphone and NFC. But, when it came down to it I purchased this to listen to music and this sounds marginally better than the speaker on my phone. If you want the best speaker in its class then go for the Bose Soundlink Mini which is the same price. I cannot recommend the Pill. Beats makes great headphones but they missed the boat on this one. It just feels very gimmicky once you try it out. They should slash the price of these to $75 clear out their stock and start from scratch because this is junk.

Huge sound from a small speaker.

This speaker is great, but as I stated, it's missing the bass Beats is known for. Great for dubstep-loving candy kids. The speaker is fairly lightweight, but not so light that it feels cheap. Has some really clean highs and mids, and you can hear the bass, but just doesn't have the "oomph" to it like it should. It pops and kind of crackles a little at high volumes before it gets a full charge, leaving me disappointed on first use until it was charged. As for the Bluetooth, I haven't really had any problems with it dropping when using with my iPod Touch (5th Gen.), but I also had intentions of using the auxiliary cord over Bluetooth because I prefer the better sound quality you get when wired over the convenience of being able to walk away from the speaker. The interference in the apartment I live in is so thick you can smell it, but the Bluetooth connection on the Pill with my iPod has probably been the most consistent connection out of any of my electronics with that ability (including Apple wireless keyboard, mouse, and PS3 peripherals.) I haven't used it with NFC and probably never will, so I'm not sure how reliable it is. I have walked well over 30ft. away from the Pill on Bluetooth and didn't hear any skips so it's got decent distance (in a non-congested house). In the end, the speaker is ALMOST worth the $200 price tag. It would definitely be worth it if it had a little more bass and- as others have said- if the carrying case was a little bigger to accommodate the cords that came with it, but the Beats Audio name is enough to jack the price up.

Great clarity.. The best for $199

I own a lot of Dre Beats products. I think the pill is great & the clarity is unmatched by any other competing portable speakers of the price range. The only down side is the bass is not all there. If you want bass, get the Beat Box. @ $399, I doubt you'll find anything in that quality. A lot of people complain about the pill not having a lot of bass. Of course, its a personal speaker, not one to rock a party with. If you want to rock a party, grab some powered Mickie's or Dre's Beat Box.

    Extremely Disappointed in Beats

I really..really wanted to love this product but I just can't stand it. I have owned beats headphones and extremely pleased with them. I originally purchased a jambox and returned it because the grill rattled a little. When I returned it I couldn't help myself so I went for the pill. I get it home and it synced with my iPhone just fine. I began to play music (all different genres: rock, rap, r&b, etc) and was baffled and confused..."where's the lows? Where's the bass?" There is none. And when I say none..I mean NONE. Nonexistent. 3 important elements to music- Highs, mids, and lows. Without one.. music sounds bad. And no I wasn't expecting earth shattering bass either. My expectations are actually low when it comes to speakers this size. But again.. There is none here. Took the pill back and got another jambox that worked perfectly fine. Totally satisfied with the jambox now!
