I love the bioshock games! I believe I bought a used one from best buy and it works just fine. This game is kind of scary and always has me on edge. I first played bioshock infinity and didn't know there was a first and second so I bought this when I found out. I think I like this game better than the first. Hacking is less annoying than the first game and you can get a free item. If you love shooting and scavenging, this is the game for you.

This game is similar to its predecessor, BioShock. The mechanics and a lot of other elements echo the game play of the first one. However, this game, for a First Person Shooter/First Person Role Playing Game is unique and feels carefully crafted. It pushed the player to make important choices, good or evil, similar to games like Mass Effect or Fable. One thing that makes this game and gaming element stick out is the character you play who is in such a gray area of what many thing of "good" and "evil", that the plot and decisions challenge one's ethics, or lack thereof.

I want to first say that there is quite a story here just not one that I particularly like. However, I did not like the storyline for Bioshock 1 either. I do, however, enjoy the game play as it is built on a smooth engine. The buttons and controls make sense rather than being confusing. The graphics are great and I love to use this game take out my aggression at times.

This was a really cool game and I got a good deal on it. The game was fun to play and really was a long game. Some games are fun but they into soon this game is longer than you think. Lots of levels lots of challenges and interesting storyline. Storyline is interesting but doesn't get in the way of fun gameplay. Might be a little too graphic for young kids. I had a blast.

Venturing back to Rapture is an exciting thing, especially when you get to go through new areas as a Big Daddy. If you have played and enjoyed the original, then you will enjoy this one as well. Not intended for children though due to pervasive language and graphic violence.

I played this after playing Bioshock: Infinite. The dated graphics, and somewhat clunky combat show. The story is pretty interesting, but the big reveal comes too early and leaves a bad section of the game left to be played. Still very worth a play through.

This game went a little under the radar compared to the first. I didn't actually play it till recently, just before Bioshock Infinites release. To my surprise, I actually prefer this game to Infinite. It just seems like a more well made game, Infinite focused so much on graphics and sound that it seems like some smaller things went neglected. Bioshock 2 has it all down, it hits all the highs and lows you expect from Bioshock. My only disappointment in the single player campaign was the Big Sisters, I thought they would play a greater role in the story. They were just another enemy to defeat with no real meaning.
There's also a mutiplayer mode in there which is interesting. It brings some of the Bioshock elements into multiplayer such as hacking, special powers, photographing enemies and implements them in smart ways. The only bummer for me is that you have to put in a good amount of time before you get to use any of the good stuff and be able to compete with the other players. It's a unnecessary barrier for new players who have no chance of succeeding early on simply because of the terrible guns and powers they're stuck with till they lose enough to unlock something better. It kills the balance and will turn away new players.

"...daddy, it's dancing!..."

I am back to Rapture! This game is a blast and although it starts out kind of slow, the pace picks up not long afterwards. I feel more powerful and more ready to face "...them Big Daddies..." now that my one-two punch system is more efficient and time-saving (thus, life-saving). I have been saving my lil sisters so far and i'll kill 'em all later on my second playthrough...lol...but it doesn't matter to Big Sister as she is really angry!
Multiplayer is crazy fun but takes time to apply Bioshock's somewhat clunky/clumsy control...Honestly, this is the only plus-factor to this installment as to me, the first Bioshock is better story-wise with both being beautiful graphically and are engaging.
graphics: 10
sound: 10
gameplay/controls: 8
story: 8 (Bioshock 1 is better story-wise)
length: 9 (lots of things to explore...and splice!)
A.I.: 9.5 (they're fast and ain't so dumb...I tell you)
Over-all: 9/10...
"...daddy, it's dancing!..." says the lil sister...I say, 2K, go on and dance you victory dance!

Return to Rapture

i adored the first Bioshock and predicted the sequel to be like nearly as every other game sequel. no where near as good as the first.Bioshock 2 does something very rare. It manages to be very similar to its predecessor yet still prove to be different enough to feel fresh and refined. This is achieved through excellent plot, new characters an edge of your seat atmosphere that is all wrapped up in the stunningly gorgeous world of Rapture.
The online multiplayer is pretty fun too, the only down-side being occasional lag (it's the same story with all games like this - when a game is developed around gameplay and immersion rather than out and out multplayer - e.g. CoD or Halo). You gain the use of different Plasmids and Tonics as you gain experience points and rank up, and as you do, you will also obtain access to stronger and more varied weapons.
Computer games are like books, films and art; essentially, escapism. No other game in my opinion captures the essence of this 'escapism' better than the Bioshock franchise. Instead of living in a boring, cold Britain waiting to either be stabbed by a chav or freeze to death waiting for a bus, I am now a resident of Rapture. Yes I am being chased by Splicers throwing knives at me, being scared over and over at the sight and sound of a Big Sister and trying to rescue my kidnapped daughter. But I know where I'd rather be and I love it.
Buy this game you won't regret it

I loved the versatility of the first game and this one is just as versatile, the new hacking system is a HUGE improvement as well.
The biggest reason I was turned on to this game was the chance to go back to Rapture and Kick-crack as a Big Daddy, with that in mind I am hugely disappointed. The drill and drill dash is awesome but consumes a ridiculous amount of fuel, I think they could have cut the need for drill fuel, every other weapon including plasmids require some type of rapidly depleting consumable (EVE/Ammo) you would think they would give you one useful weapon that you don't have to constantly replenish.
Your character is also surprisingly weak for being a Big Daddy especially in comparison to your average splicers. You have to almost empty a clip into a splicer to drop it but they can sh00t you a couple times and deplete all your health. With the addition of Brute splicers, Big Sisters, and the need to defend ADAM gathers from a insane amount of splicers it would have been nice if your character had one enemy type it could truly just OWN! I mean come on, you’re a BIG DADDY for crying out loud, random average splicers shouldn't stand a chance, if anything they should be toys for target practice. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy my games having a certain level of difficulty, but I also love have something I can kick the tar out of just to demonstrate the character’s superiority on some level.
All-in-all I love the game, I just wish you character was as bad as he should be, they sure made it sound like he would be. If you likes the first Bio-Shock, then you will enjoy this installment as well. If you were counting on being able to kick the poo out everything you encounter because you’re a Big-Daddy, then you will be disappointed. You really weren't given any "edge" as a Big-Daddy, none of your weapons are really anymore powerful, your character is still just as frail, but hey......you look pretty cool!

I normally hate 1st person shooters, but Bioshock is a completely different different. I love the graphics in the sequel & I love the new changes! A word of warning, if you have never played Bioshock before I recommend that you play the original first! Not because you need to know the story, but because the hacking system will drive you crazy, compared to how it's set up in the sequel.
My only gripe is that the sequel seems to be rather short, compared to the original, but the multiplayer is very fun! I recommend it to anyone!!!

This game is so fun. Most FPS's have pretty weak campaigns it seems because they focus heavily on multiplayer functionality. Bioshock 2 on the other hand is the opposite. The single-player campaign is just plain awesome. Great visuals and great additions over the also-great Bioshock. I played Bioshock 2 first and loved it. I then got a copy of Bioshock, played it, and loved it. I cannot wait for Bioshock Infinite!

I enjoyed the idea that you did not have to Harvest the LIttle Sisters but could actually Adopt them and have them Gather Adam. Having Kids of my own, I thought that was cruel to tear apart a little kid in order to get the needed Adam for your Plasmids. I like that they expanded the number of Tonic Slots from the Original. The game did seem rather short and there wasn't any combat outside in the Ocean. I also noticed that at one point in the game it disabled all my weapons except for the Drill / Camera / and Remote Hack Gun. I had to finish the game like that. (P.S.You also get to play a little sister toward the end of the game which I thought was interesting)

This is a great sequel. Not as good as the first, but still very good. The graphics are amazing but I think that the game has strayed away from its underground beginings. I think that the expansion of characters may have been too much. Still one of the best games ever! Come on 2k games! Bring the games coming!

It took them that long to come out with this? It's no wonder the developers were quick to announce work on Bioshock: Infinite. The storyline, gameplay improvements, graphic updates all makes the game feel like a DLC then a true sequel. At least let us destroy Rapture in the end. It's a good game but not worth the full price. Wait until it's $30 then get it.

Hey everyone! I must admit that a secret city at the bottom of the sea, where you can go around blowing stuff up and killing all the nasty inhabitants, and get ammunition out of vending machines is a concept I cant get enough of. I loved the first game and went through it MANY times. This is a continuation and it feels and looks the same. I am most pleased to report that hacking has become MUCH easier. No more of that stupid liquid/tile swapping mini-game.
