Color ink goes fast even without using it!

Horrible! Worst printer I have ever owned. The paper feeder will not recognize Avery paper. It will jam every time. If you try to print high quality or even above normal picture it slows down to almost not running at all. It give you an error every time you try to print anything higher than normal quality print jobs. Oh and the Ink it’s a freaking joke. I have been printing only black and white labels about 10 sheets of black and white labels and now my color ink is almost out. It’s a scam to get you to buy more color ink even though I have not used it at all. Do not buy!

Stated page yields for genuine Brother cartridges are based on the ISO testing standards. The number of pages that can be printed with a cartridge is affected by several factors, including paper size, number of pages per print job, amount of print on each page, font size, and print content (graphics, charts, etc.). Print jobs with large text fonts, graphics, charts, and/or large amount of solid coverage (black or any given color) will use much more toner and will shorten the life of the toner cartridge.

    Ink estimate is way off

First off, this is NOT a tank printer. I knew this before purchasing but only from looking at reviews, it absolutely seems like it has a tank based on their advertising. Not sure why they’re even allowed to advertise it the way they do because it’s very misleading. That being said, it claimed to have 1100 pages worth of black ink, and I needed it for high volume printing for a couple months. I haven’t even printed 300 pages (I think I’m around 250) and I’m almost out of ink. I assume it’ll run out around 300 pages in. Now I know the 1100 page claim was an ESTIMATE, but 300 pages is VERY far off of 1100. I would’ve bought the competitions ACTUAL tank printer for a bit had I known ink would add up to this much. Im not sure what to do but I’ll probably end up returning it as it is not at all what it claims to be. Not sure if mine is defective and eating up the ink or they’re all this awful and expensive. Also the paper tray is really annoying to get out and put back in, and definitely seems more flimsy and breakable than it should be.

Absolute junk. Can't get this to connect to a brand new Dell laptop. Will not connect to the wifi, software files won't decompress to install, there's no clear way to determine what is wrong. I've spend over 8 hours trying to get this to connect. Every other wi-fi connectable device in my house connects to my network without problems. My network isn't the problem, this printer is.

I have owned and used this printer since 2/22. It did OK in the beginning months, Had to get used to holding down the button till it flashed and turned on or off. A pain when I was in a hurry. But then it started to not print. A vising Best buy rep told me one problem was that I should be using only brother ink. Apparently, it could recognize and reject other brands. That suggestion worked for awhile. But, the paper door closed at an angle, so it never closed completely. And now it has stopped working. The lights on the unit just flash. Talking to an online Geek Squad person, he said it sounds like the insides are bad. Their rep will now evaluate it, at my home, at my own expense. I am ready to replace it unless there is a miracle.

This is the most inconsistent, difficult to use inkjet I have ever, ever owned. The controls are nearly impossible to see because of location and terrible labels. It has ridiculous presets that prevent user from making anything but 8 1/2 x 11 or 4x6 prints without having to find your phone, go to an app, scroll through a bunch of crap, and attempt to set custom sizes - even 5x7. The build is cheap, brittle plastic. Customer service is non existent. No phone support. Chat is lame - the agents have no training. Email is not answered. I encourage you to buy ANY other type of printer than brother.

I was shocked when I went to print two sided and found that I had to do it manually with this printer ! Also , this printer's programing is not recognized on some sites that I have regualrly printer off of for years. It takes a little effort and several more clicks to print off of them! The picture is even deceptive, it looks like a paper is coming out just printed, but does not have the the paper feed sticking up in back that would raise question to realize that this does not print double sided automatically. I had an Epson that lasted for years for me, that cost half the price and is a much better machine, although it had a few quirks. I will NEVER buy an Epson again! I feel so cheated with this purchase!

Bought this for work. Normally I love Brother and prefer it over the other brands. This model, however, would not connect to my wifi. I didn't try swapping it for another of the same model. I went straight to the next model up. The problem I had was connecting the printer to the wifi. The manual had one set of instructions, I went online and found a slightly different set of instructions. Both instructions I felt could have been written better. Neither set of instructions worked. Not too surprised, I've had problems with WPS setup in the past. Took it to the Geek Squad to see if they could get it to work and they couldn't figure it out. That's when I returned it and spent the extra $40 to get a printer with an LCD screen.

Please do NOT buy a Brother product of any kind. It was an absolutely royal pain to install initially. Then it worked fine for months. Scans, prints, copies. And now starting today, it only prints blank sheets. It acts and sounds exactly like it's printing, but only blank sheets come out. Plenty of ink left. Removed and reinstalled all four ink cartridges. Updated to the latest drivers and firmware. Uninstalled and reinstalled all the drivers and software. Rebooted laptop. Still only prints blank sheets. Please do NOT buy a #Brother printer. Ever!

Very disappointed. The reason for buying this product was because it was advertised that the ink is expected to last for up to 1 year. The sticker on the machine even states that you should be able to print up to 100 pages a month. I just printed for the 1st time and it was less then 50 sheets and the machine is out of ink. What BS. Don't buy this product unless you are ok with spending more money immediately. I am very upset that I now have to go out and buy more ink.

Up to 1 Year of Ink In-box is based on average monthly print volumes of approximately 100 pages at 60% black pages / 40% color pages in accordance with ISO/IEC 24711 using 4 cartridges provided in-box.

The MFCJ1205W comes packaged with LC404 INKvestment TANK Super High Yield Ink Cartridges. Actual yield of initial cartridges will be approximately 87% of replacement LC404 Series, due to ink system initialization. All replacement cartridges will provide approximate page yield stated in accordance with ISO/IEC 24711. Brother

So this printer is not easy to set up. I work in IT and this is not intuitive at all. I anyways was able to connect it to my home Wi-Fi and iPhone as well as my laptop all wirelessly. All good - used it 2x then moved to my summer house and could not get it to connect to the new Wi-Fi network. So all in all a very expensive purchase considering I was able to print only 2 times. So frustrating……
