Bought this laser printer in January 2013 initially dissappointed with number of copies per toner cartridge (set on toner saver as default), no better than my inkjets also needs new drum every other change making it less economical. Initial wireless connection worked well but stopped working suddenly. Hours on the phone with tech support (they are very patient and seem thouough) end result still no wireless. They said troubleshooting is complete, network is the problem. ATT U-Verse said no, 2 PC's, 2 laptops and 3 other printers are all working properly wirelessly. Gave up and wired direct to a PC - printing works, scan did initially but now will not. Says cannot find device but also says device is ready. Scan successful to a different printer (wirelessly) using Paperport software supplied by Brother. Cannot print preprinted laser check - shadows original blank. Line through middle of copyies now and corona wire cleaning makes no difference, second toner carteidge still half full but seems drum is shot. Wasted my money on this unit.

I did a lot of research before buying this printer/scanner. The specifications such as page per minute, size of the paper tray, cost of toner cartridges were all good. I had it set up, and in worked mechanically, but I had difficulty scanning and converting the scanned product to an e-mail attachment. That is essential in my business and I have been doing this with other scanners for years. I called the help number of the manufacturer. The person helping me was aggressive, unhelpful, and highly critical of me. I ended up returning the printer 6 hours after buying it. So I cant recommend this product to anyone who might need some help getting it to work.

I have a HP laptop and wanted to upgrade from my inkjet to a laser printer. I previously bought a Brother color laser printer but it was too big so I sent it back and saw this one in Best Buy for $200. I bought even though it was not color. It was a good buy. However, unlike my HP printer, there is no interface for the desktop for me to use. I visited the website and it gave me the run around. Once I got something on my desktop, it was so difficult I got frustrated with it. In the end, I sprung for the extra $100 and bought a HP laserjet that did color. Thanks to Best Buy for the hassle free return on this one.

    Difficulty Staying Connected

I ended up returning this printer. I had a heck of a time with it staying connected to my wireless network. It would go to sleep before I could even find it with my computer. I tried to get through to their support, but had no luck talking to a real person with their limited hours, and decided it wasn't worth my time. I purchased a Canon with the same features and price, and I had it hooked up and running within 20 minutes. I have a new MAC so I did have to download the drivers online, but it was very easy.

First year was great. Cranked out 1000-1200 pages a month Second year, went thought more drums vs print cartages. This is a buy for a and used for a year and toss printer. But then what does one expect for a under $300 printer. Recommend for low volume printing. under 200 pages a month.
