This Canon - PowerShot 12.1 Megapixel Compact Camera is my latest Canon camera. I have gone back and forth for about 20 years using Canon and Olympus pocket cameras. I loved my film Olympus Stylus in the 90s and I used a Canon Sureshot in the 00s. SO this is a step up in price point and expectations. I have not been disappointed so far. The size lends itself to carrying in a concealed and comfortable manner while still providing some of the features that a "grown up" full-sized SLR would provide. The image quality is outstanding and the various adjustments for shutter speed and aperture size give me enough to play around with to make my shots fun. The only draw back for me is the battery. While it seems to have a decent shooting life for each charge, it must be removed from the camera to be recharged, meaning there is a separate recharger in the mix. In other words, something else for me to carry and probably lose in the lifetime of the camera. Otherwise, it is has already provided some fun shots in places that I just wouldn't get them because I don't want to drag a bigger camera out an get them. While a little higher than my personal price point, it is a good camera.

This is a great overall camera for taking pictures of the family or on vacation and such. The battery life is confusing at times, going from 3/4 full to near dead in a few hours, but not every time. The features are great such as the auto stabilizer and the numerous camera effects that enhance photos, as long as you know how to use them. Navigating the special effects is confusing and takes a while to understand, but make a lot of photos much better.

I think this is the perfect lil camera to carry around, takes outstanding pics especially in low light situations. also the burst mode for capturing subjects in motion rocks! I use my Nikon D90 a lot less now and that is saying a lot!

I love this camera series. After the G series, this fits easily in my pocket and is very reliable. It has many features for people that like to use them but Auto/Program is always reliable for great shots. The Canon S110 is my backup when I don't want to carry around my DSLR.

    Great camera in lowlight

This camera does really welI in low light situations. Low light pictures are clear with visible subjects, not dark and grainy like my previous point and shoot. Even managed to get good pictures at dusk with no flash. I'm happy with the picture quality which was my main reason for buying this camera. The wifi feature was easy to enable and allows me to pull pictures directly from the camera. One downside is the shorter battery life. It appears to be good enough for a full day of pictures, but the low battery indicator threatened me for long enough that I did start to wonder if it was at all accurate. Expect to charge every night after a good amount of use. In addition, if you value high speed shooting, you may be disappointed in this camera's time to turn on and between pictures. Note that the ergonomics of this camera are interesting. The pop up flash is often pushing up under my left fingers. It's in an odd location. And there isn't much of a grip area on it's compact body. Overall a good camera.

I Bought this camera to take to LA for a Cheer Competition and wow i did not disappoint. Great photos, video, the need for low light photos, it was just awesome. Oh and wait, Disneyland I used this inside of the attractions (without the flash), outside for the parades, rides, everywhere. this camera is light weight, easy to use and well fun. I did a little research on this camera and it came highly recommended and it did not disappoint.

I bought this to supplement my DSLR supplement, the Canon G15. The photo quality is very close to the G15 in a significantly smaller package. The touchscreen integration is great - all normal camera operations are still performed with real buttons, the touch screen is a bonus, unlike other cameras where the touch screen has replaced physical buttons rendering them very hard to use. I will be putting my G15 on Ebay. The G15 has a marginally better flash and marginally better low light performance, but not enough for the added bulk (for me), and I don't need two cameras with such similar performance. When I use the G15, I miss the touchscreen and the front ring funtion controller. I expected this camera to be great, but I didn't expect to prefer it over the G15.

Bought this camera because I did not want to lug around my 35mm. It's great, fits in your pocket, very little lag time from the time you press to take the photo to the time it takes the photo, gives options for different settings. I found it very easy to use, took little time to look over the different settings and what the camera can do. Easy to take videos, and very lightweight. I think it's a great deal for the price. The only 2 cons I think it has is the location of the flash, it's right on the corner where you want to place your finger when holding the camera. Have to consciously think on how to hold camera in case flash pops up. The other would be the microphone for the video, you have to talk louder if you want the sound to come out good.

    Perfect Point & Shoot Camera

This is the perfect, compact point and shoot camera that produces high-quality photographs. It is easy to use, easy to set-up and, as a bonus, has WiFi connectivity, which enables you to tether it to your iPhone or other Smart Phone and connect it to a blue-tooth enabled computer. You can also post photos to Facebook or other social media using the WiFi tool. The camera is small, fitting in a tiny case. The photo quality is superb, especially in low light. It has one ergonomic quirk: the pop-up flash is on the top left of the camera body where you would normally hold your left hand. When the flash pops-up, you have to move your finger to avoid impeding flash access. It would have been better to integrate the flash into the front of the body. Beside that one quirk, this easily the best point and shoot camera for the price point.

Love this camera. Feature rich, but some features are hard to find when you want to use them, even though I played with it quite a bit before our vacation. The picture quality is excellent. Also, I read some reviews that the battery life was short and as I used it the first few days, I didn't think the battery life was short, however, it didn't give a very good warning that the battery was running low until the battery was almost dead. The price was more than I wanted to pay for a point and shoot, but based on the picture quality, I am not sorry for the purchase.

    The Class Setter

I have owned several "S" series Canon PowerShots and have all ways loved the pictured quality. I have had lens problems with past models but I have to say it happened when I let others shoot with the camera (don't know why people like to push on the lens). I have not found another camera this size and in this price range that can match the picture quality. My G-12 is slightly better but it is bigger, heavier and costs more. The new Sonys are great but none of the sub $300 models can touch this camera. I have purchased the comparable Panasonic and Nikon models over the past 2 years and have initially liked them but was disappointed after a month or 2. Outside of the specs I just cameras by usable photos. For every 100 photos I take, how many "keepers". This camera delivers the most "keepers" among my compact point and shoots. It is capable of producing professional level shots. And it fits nicely in a jacket pocket with a protective case. Plus is you have any advanced photography abilities, you can adjust many settings manually and save "RAW" images great for printing and editing. The bottom line is most compact point and shoots are comparable to today's camera phones. Lens quality, shutter, adjustable features, much better than your camera phone.

My wife and I bought this camera so we could have higher quality pictures of our newborn baby. It does great low light pictures and is easy to use while holding a baby. We are still learning several of the features, but if you are looking for something with good low light quality, ease of use, and affordability, I would go with this. The touch screen is also nice because you can change the focal point without having to change the position of the camera.

This camera is my favorite! It takes very good photos with high quality. The best part is taking photos in the dark - it's as good as professional cameras. I have always had a problem with photos not coming out well in the evenings with other cameras, even other cheaper Canons. But this camera nails it. It's also very chic black, small, easy to bring with you everywhere. I highly recommend it!

Good camera ... Worth what you pay for .... Easy to use but short battery life. W have used it a couple of times till now and the picture clarity looks good. Never tried taking videos though,,,, tried out different options in camera.... Overall the camera looks good and it would be a great one to gift it to someone.

Camera was bought for teen. Easy to use out of the box. Many features of the little more advanced type for user to explore and use in the future. Flash pop-up is in a bad location. Opposite of the shutter button on top of camera where your left hand, or finger is placed to hold the camera. The flash doesn't like it if it tries to open and your finger is in the way. Short battery life if the video recorder is used.

I love the Canon Powershot Series... I've had a S95, S100, and now an S110. I went with this camera over the Sony - Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 because I don't need a $500+ Point & Shoot... It's a point and shoot. Easier to use than the Sony - Cyber-shot DSC-RX100 also... Better compact controls.

    Remarkably Easy Wi-Fi Fun

I have several pocket and DSLR Canon cameras but this one by far has become the most used and most fun. The Wi-Fi photo transfer feature makes it ridiculously easy to move pictures fast and immediately to any of my several Android tablets, phone, and PC computer (supposed to work with Apple also, but I have no experience with that). Now you can have the quality and versatility of a serious camera (excellent depth of field/low light capability etc) that can move pictures to the devices or direct to internet with the touch of a botton (or the screen). The only drawback is the that there isn't much zoom, but the SX280 fixes that with 20x zoom, although it isn't as good in low light... always tradeoffs. Bottom line this is a remarkable walk around camera that will meet the majority of your photo needs with ease and let you share them with even more ease.

We tried 3 other cameras and returned them until we finally arrived at this one. The canon s series is the only compact camera worth spending money on . We love this camera. The quality is amazing. Don't waste your time like we did. Spend and get a whole lot more.

This specific camera was recommended to me by a good friend. He is very knowledgeable when it comes to photographic equipment and his judgement proved to be spot on. At first, my intention was to buy a less expensive small camera, but I now clearly see the benefit of paying (not much) more and having a product that is truly excellent.
