I got this lens before I started my first drift season and I have not use another lens since! It’s a little pricey but I wanted the extra stop and better bokeh than the f/4 version.

Great lens with lower aperture for portraits. Must lens for up close action shots or photos with more candid feel where you can be from a distance. Newer photographers note: RF stands for the RF mount that connects to the camera. This lens is much lighter than the EF version.

A worthy successor to the EF 70-200 f2.8 II I thought the fact the lens extends outwards would bother me but the thicker shape to the lens barrel helps with the grip and it becomes a non issue, it also packs nicely in the camera bag as well, even attached to the camera body which is a welcome change.

A Compact Marvel for Travel Photography

In the world of photography, finding the perfect lens that marries versatility with performance can often feel like a quest for the Holy Grail. Enter this lens, which appears to be a beacon of hope for photographers seeking that elusive combination, especially for those who prioritize compactness without compromising on quality. Firstly, the size and design of this lens merit praise. Its compact nature, as compared to its EF counterpart, is a significant advantage. The ability to extend the lens without adding much bulk makes it an attractive option for photographers who are always on the move. This design choice not only enhances portability but also contributes to its less conspicuous presence. For street and travel photography, where blending in can be crucial, this feature is invaluable. Performance-wise, the lens does not disappoint. It offers a substantial focal range, catering to a variety of shooting scenarios from wide landscapes to tight portraits, without sacrificing image quality across the spectrum. This versatility is a boon for travelers who must often make difficult decisions about which lenses to pack. With this lens, the compromise between focal range and performance is significantly mitigated, if not entirely eliminated. However, such quality and convenience come at a cost, both figuratively and literally. The lens commands a premium price, which may be a deterrent for some. Yet, for those who view photography not just as a hobby but as a passion or profession, investing in a lens of this caliber can be justified. The adage "you get what you pay for" rings true here, with the lens' price reflecting its quality and versatility. In conclusion, if budget constraints are not a primary concern, this lens emerges as a compelling choice for photographers who value compactness, performance, and versatility. It is particularly suited for travel photography, where every inch of space and every ounce of weight matter. With its considerable focal range and impressive performance throughout, it is indeed a "lovely tool to have on the camera," offering a blend of convenience and quality that is hard to come by. Whether you're traversing bustling city streets or capturing serene landscapes, this lens promises to be a reliable companion on your photographic journeys.

The lens is absolutely amazing. I have it on my camera body more than my RF 28-70. It’s light, compact, sharp, and looks great. Gave me an extra space in my bag now that I can place it standing up. Only downfall is the lens tripod support gets in the way when zooming in and the turn of the zoom is a lot more than the old EF version. Definitely recommend it, but had a bad experience with Best Buy and their shipping. Absolutely horrible... showed up in a box twice it’s size with very very little cushion. The lens box had to have been flying around inside during transport. Disappointed

Shockingly epensive, but absolutely worth it. I was reluctant to spend so much on one lens, even with a holiday discount, but I'm so glad I did. I've been using it about a month and I think it's my favorite lens purchase ever! I didn't think I'd like the extending barrel, but it's great. Saves space in the bag and locks in place if I choose. Comes with tripod collar but haven't really needed it, even in low light. Very impressive sharpness, as sharp as any prime I've tried. I had extremely high expectations when I ordered this lens, and I looked for a reason to not keep it. I can honestly say I couldn't find one! I've used the older EF 70-200 2.8s and I really liked them, but the RF blows them all away. All I can say is, get one if you can. If it stands the test of time like Canon's L line usually does, it's a worthwhile investment and lots of fun!

I recently purchased the Canon RF 70-200mm lens and I am blown away by its performance. The lens is incredibly sharp and produces stunning bokeh. The image stabilization is top-notch and the autofocus is fast and accurate. The build quality is excellent and the lens feels solid in my hands. The focal length range is perfect for portraits, wildlife, and sports photography. The aperture range of f/2.8 allows for great low-light performance and beautiful depth of field. The telescoping design of the lens makes it compact and easy to carry around. Overall, I highly recommend the Canon RF 70-200mm lens to anyone looking for a high-quality telephoto zoom lens. It’s an amazing lens that delivers exceptional results every time.

Excellent lens for sports or portraits. I purchased this lens for my equestrian sports business, the reduced weight is helpful for long days shooting. This lens Pairs well with my R5 and R6. I find this lens to be fast and tack sharp.

When I purchased this lens, I was wondering if it was really worth the expense - - or should I just a\stay with the EF 70-200 lens.. Well, I moved to the RF 70-200 lens and I am VERY happy that did! The lens quality is truly great and usability is greatly enhanced over the EF version. In addition to great image quality, this lens is lighter, smaller, and more capable the the EF version. For example, with this lens you can realize all of the EOS R features (e.g., full time manual focus with frustrating peaking, etc.).. The dated EF lenses work really well, but the native RF lenses have may advantages. I would encourage any serious photographer to incorporate this lens into their baseline kit!!

It’s a little pricey, but it’s worth it to have the 2.8 F Stop with the zoom range. Also worth spending the extra money on this lighter version than the heavy EF version.

I upgrade from the Canon 70-200mm F/2.8 IS L II to this current verison & it does not dissapoint. The previous L version was so heavy I had pain on my left rhomboid muscle, now that problem is solve with the lighter RF version.

Upgrading from the EF 70-200 IS Mark III this beast not only is more compact but has a wonderful feature on the hood that has a filter door for polarizers and ND filters. The lens is way more lightweight and the performance is steller on the R5. Only drawback is since its not a internal barrel zoom it's length extends when you zoom so balance isn't as amazing as the EF variant but thats a fair trade for all the pros and the compact travel nature of the lens. Making this a must have for wedding photography or general travel without having to leave it home anymore!

This lens is the cream of the crop, with a price tag to match. If you're looking to shoot in the 70-200 focal length range, this lens is super sharp, and super fast. Compared to Canon's older F/2.8 70-200 lenses, this lens is small and compact yet delivers outstanding image quality. This lens comes with a tripod mount which is removable without removing the lens from the camera body, a very handy feature. That being said, I shoot most of my photos handheld, and this lens is not terribly bulky and heavy for what it offers.

I was hesitant to buy this lens because it costs so much, but have been nothing but pleased with it. It is quick, it is crystal clear, and it has opened up all sorts of creative possibilities that I never was never even expecting. This lens stays on my camera about 2/3s of the time ever since I picked it up. I am more than happy with this lens, and I hope to have it for years to come.
