I played this game for about 200 hours on the xbox 360. Beat the game 7 times between 3 characters. Also bought all the dlc. The game for the xbox one blows the 360 version away. The frame rate and graphics were the first thing I notice. The enemy placement is different but feels right. The game has all the dlc included So your looking at about a 50 hour game for a beginner. Thats with out beating the game and going into new game +. As for recommending the game to a friend most of my friends bought it. So yes I would.

This is a very challenging game. this is the first thing that you should know about this game. It is full of discovery. There is no set path to take, you can build your character and play him or her any way you'd like. There is easily 60+ hours of content to work through. There is a multiplayer experience as well. Co-op and PvP. I can't stop playing. Again this game is very challenging.

The souls games give the player a refreshing challenge from normal games. That being said, this game is a port from last gen consoles. This does create problems, I have had probably 30-40 soft locks within my 100 hours or so of playing. What I mean by soft lock is the game crashes. The screen freezes and it plays an annoying buzzing noise until the console restarts the game.
The enemy spawns have also been moved around, I found that the enemy placement makes the game easier. Minus a few select areas (You suck Heide's tower!) There are also many more enemies holding the armor sets people used to farm. There are more shadow enemies(shadow set), more white Heide knights, and a few others I can't think of now.
Anywho, if you have not played this game and you like a challenge I suggest picking it up! But I personally would say play on the PS3 or Xbox360 rather then the Xbox One (I do not know how it plays on the PS4)
As a product of best buy, this is of the highest quality. No scratches, the disk was in the case, the price was the same as every where else.

I play a lot of games, but nothing else has consumed as much of my time as the "Souls" games, especially Dark Souls 2 - SOTFS. Having already played and beaten Dark Souls 2 on Xbox 360, I did not hesitate to get SOTFS as soon as possible on Xbox One. As soon as I started playing I was reassured of my purchase. The graphics look amazing. I found the clarity and speed so much better and responsive because of the upgraded 60 Frames Per Sec. The textures look better than ever. The light shimmers off of land and armor, and shadows are very clear and defined. The gameplay itself offers a lot of new challenges, NPC's, slightly mixed enemy locations, and more online players. I found the first 20 hours or so slightly more difficult than Dark Souls 2, however after getting my character more built I am crushing it. I'm looking forward to starting the DLC, one of the main reasons I bought the game to begin with. However, not having even played DLC yet I still found this game to be well worth getting.

I had originally purchased this for the XBOX 360, but bought this for the updated graphics and all available DLC. It's almost as if it's an entirely new game, and its still punishingly(sp?) difficult. Fantastic purchase

This game/series is amazing. I was really hesitant on playing it but I'm so glad i did. I am obsessed with this series. Anything By FROMSOFTWARE the games they create are really tough but they are really rewarding. They are the types of games that take a lot of thinking and planning. Be prepared to die... a lot but thats what makes the game fun. You collect "souls" which you use to buy things and upgrade your inventory, and abilities. But when you die you loose all of them, but they give you a chance to get them back if you can traverse back to where you lost them from dying. It makes the game so much fun. I recommend this game to everyone. I think everyone needs to try these games. There are so many different ways to play it. The game is beautiful and the story is really cool. The story is actually told by picking up different things you find around the world. Parts of the story could come from weapons or items that are picked up or even people that are talked to in the game. But be careful because if you are online while you are playing the game other players can invade your game and try to attack you. Also being online while playing can really help as well. As you are walking around you will see glowing notes written on the floor by other players. If you click on them you can read what other players say about what is going on in that area. The games are in my top five favorite games of all time. I Highly recommend these games.

If you are a fan of the Dark Souls games, then this is a very well done remaster for the 8th gen systems. The increased framerate is the standout feature for this title along with a boost in graphical fidelity. I would strongly recommend playing with a friend or two if possible. Also, having all the DLC included in this singular package is an incredible deal. If you haven't played Dark Souls 2, this is the version to grab and prepare to die, a lot.

This game is so hard, but rewarding. Looks great on next gen. Haven't gotten far in it though, but well worth the money since it had the DLC.

I'm a long time fan of the dark souls games, having spent countless hours on demon souls and dark souls 1. My initial play-through of the third in the series, Dark Souls 2, felt like it was lacking something. It wasn't nearly as challenging as it's predecessors. This all changed with SotFS. The increased difficulty of gameplay, as well as the stunning Xbone graphics made this into what Dark Souls 2 should have been with it's initial release. 10/10 be prepared to die, a lot

This game is very tough for beginners. The great payoff is the satisfaction of beating something so difficult. The main reason for only three stars is a very poor tutorial, and explanation of how to play. I can respect the game for its difficulty but give me a chance without having to watch YouTube and twitch for a clue.

This is my second foray into the Dark Souls series. The first, as frustrating as it was, was one of the best, if not best games I have ever played. This game picks up where the other left off. Just as hard, if not harder. From Software is on point, and this is just one heck of a game. Get it. Play. Die. Repeat.

dark souls is one of my favorite game series and this is the best it's ever looked. It is a very challenging game, but that is what makes the game feel very rewarding. I would say this one is definitely easier tha. The first one and you could jump right into this one even if you didn't play the first.

This is definitely my favorite game. It's challenging with a side of even harder. You will die. But the satisfaction of beating it is amazing. The sotfs edition takes the old game and makes it much better. Everything about the new version Just seems right. 10/10 would buy again.

Its a great game. I have played this game on the 360 and its more or less the same with enemies switched around so be careful because what was once safe may now be a place of ambush haha. Only thing is that there are not many people to play with on your first run. Im guessing its because many are in new game plus and/or not as many people might have bought it this time around. Obvious reason being they probably already played it on the older gen consoles. If you have friends on the other hand it makes it great because you can enjoy it more. You can all jump off a ledge or close doors on your friends as they try to make it to safety, what ever makes you happy. Just remember to always praise the sun. Its worth a pick up now that it is 30$ you can't go wrong.

First off let me start by saying I only played the first dark souls 2 on 360 right before switching to next gen consoles. I never finished it as I sold all of my previous systems games ect.
They did include in this release 60 frames per second and upscaled to 1080p, that said some textures look horrid, looking at the water in the forest of giants from inside the fort looks like a pixelated mess, that said outside of some texture issues the frame rate is good.
Gameplay wise there are some changes due to the scholar of first sin compared to original release such as item/enemy placement.
For a more in depth review i'd recommend checking out youtube ect.

Inclusion of the amazing DLC content released for Dark souls 2 vanilla plus new content. This remastering is worth every penny.
