Loot 2.0 patch and ROS revitalized Diablo III

The Loot 2.0 patch, put into place before ROS and the closing on the auction house, really changed the game. Playing Diablo III really feels like you're playing a Diablo game now. The expansion raised the level caps, added a new class, and did some other nifty things. Having just finished the campaign, I think the price for the expansion is totally justified. If you want to uncover every bit of the maps and do every sidequest, you'll feel justified. Adventure mode gives it even more value. The collector's edition is pretty cool. The art book is, as always for Blizzard COEs, nicely put together and the soundtrack/DVD are nice.

Diablo 3 Reaper of Souls Collector's Edition is probably one of the greatest things I've had the pleasure of picking up in quite a while for a few reasons. First, it's a great follow-up to the original Diablo 3, and it feels like a real expansion. Lately, too many companies have gone the "let's throw a few things together for a $10 DLC" route, but Blizzard has refused, opting instead for something that feels like a real expansion. Even those who have not completed the full storyline of the original game will notice extra features immediately, such as the additional game mode. There are of course extra chapters, enemies, weapons, items, etc. added as well for those who have progressed far enough. This package's real selling point for me, though, were the high-quality collector's edition extras. I will say it firmly: do not buy a digital collector's edition of this game. This package comes with a mousepad (fun!) a hard-cover nicely-bound art book (gorgeous) and a behind-the-scenes dvd/blu-ray combo (it's about time behind-the-scenes was HD, I'm tired of looking at SD on my modern big-screen), in addition to a couple other goodies, such as codes for Hearthstone cards. At the sale price I got it (which may or may not still be the price), it was worth the money for the extras alone. Even at normal price, if you like Diablo 3, you would be doing yourself a disservice to not get the physical collector's edition of this expansion. After this and the first StarCraft 2 collector's edition, I don't think I'll ever buy another Blizzard game without getting the collector's edition. Do yourself a favor and get this one!

The expansion exceeds all my expectations! All new things are waiting for the palyers. Storyline, items, leveling, areas & graphics, and a whole new game mode designed for leveling and good gear! If this is any clue to whatthe future holds for D3, I'll be standing in line for the next expansion! 5 stars! And my 62 year old mom plays! Can't beat that!

Excellent storyline continuation from Diablo 3. The game offers gameplay as easy or challenging as you wish. Replay does get repetitive but the quest for more loot keeps you coming back. Server connection and latency issues are frustrating at times but overall the experience is very good.

A great expansion that's still missing some things, Reaper of Souls gets Diablo right by fixing a lot of what was wrong with the Classic version. Auction House is out, Rifts and Bounties are in. Grouping and killing, getting Legandary items and changing your builds around them feels fun and rewarding, as opposed to the old way of just getting gold and searching for something on an ebay site in the game. Graphics and gameplay are fun and visceral. Sound design is SUPURB. Monsters sound NASTY and effects sound great. The Music is a step up from Classic, and they take some chances with odd choices that work really well. Voice acting is solid as usual. Act V is somewhat short, but really Diablo is not a game to judge by its story and length. The endgame has to be engaging and fun, and in the end we just want to plow through monsters and see that Orange flash as a Legendary drops. Bottom line - its fun, fast, and furious. Go kill some demons (and reapers)

Diablo 3's expansion, Reaper of Souls, does quite a lot to fix the issues that plagued the original Diablo 3. The Real Money Auction House is now gone, the new loot 2.0 system actually lets players get stronger with the loot they acquire (it's a smart loot system that more often drops loot tuned for your currently played class), there's a new craft (mystic) that lets players pay to reroll certain stats on loot, and that's just the beginning. The soundtrack is fantastic and really captures the overall Diablo tone and the new areas are quite expansive and not simple re-skins of current areas. Also, the level cap has been raised and new abilities and skills have been added along with an entirely new class (Crusader) so there's plenty to do. It's fresh, it's fun, it's fixed, it's addicting... it's Diablo.

Great improvement, poor writing and conclusion

I won't spoil anything, but the writing is still poorly written. Too many cheesy lines and considering the tone of the game being about the end of all things, I never found myself feeling doomed or creeped out. There simply isn't that tone put into the writing. That's still an issue with Diablo 3. The ending wasn't a big surprise and the conclusion was predictable and not detailed enough. There simply wasn't enough dialogue after the last boss fight and I was left feeling dissapointed that even slightly more effort wasn't put into it. As for the gameplay itself, the new patch and loot system are pretty solid. I enjoy the enchanting and skill and ability changes. Feels closer to what Diablo used to be. The environments were a lot of fun and I enjoy the events even though it comes with poor writing (I'm a broken record about that part). The crusader class so far has been a blast and more my style. I ways sway towards the paladin type classes. There is some effort found throughout personal journals that explains a lot of story, which in that regard was a solid. Love the game for the most part, but can't get past the writing and shallow storyline. I get leaving some things unanswered, but Blizzard could do so much better with a lot of other parts.

Superb graphics at 2560x1600, very detailed. Adventure mode keeps you coming back, always looking for a new legendary to improve your toon...or perhaps a rare crafting ingredient. Now that D3 has matured, it is an excellent game...worthy of your $ if you were turned off by the initial reviews a couple of years ago. The collector's edition is expensive. I found the last one that my local Best Buy had on a low shelf hidden behind something else...so keep looking...you never know what you may find!

This is a solid expansion for the Diablo series. Blizzard has revamped the loot system, now not centered around the auction house systems. Drops are more likely to be tailored to your class. The story continues the Diablo saga right where the last left off. After finishing the scripted portion of the game, you may start Adventure mode, which plots points on your map to visit to take out targets that roam the area. This means there is a never ending grind of paragon levels and more loot drops. Nice, if you're tired of playing the story mode for each character, but still makes for the patented Diablo grind.

WIth the new combat and looting changes and the removal of the auction house, Diablo 3 is a much better game than it was at release. Reaper of Souls adds a new act with a good storyline as well as a new adventure mode with randomized questing across the main Diablo 3 areas. The additions are good and the production is as high as ever, but the price is questionable for the amount of content that you get. Ideally, it would be $10 cheaper than what they are selling it for. Not mentioned in the description, you do get a three card packs for the Blizzard's free-to-play card game Hearthstone.

The reason this isn't 5 stars is because it didn't fix all the problems that came with the original core game. One big issue is the pvp i was tempted with since pre-launch that is still missing. it has a brawling area but lacks the same feel of a battleground with set rules and game types. That being said the new loot system and class are amazing with a new act i have been holding out until i clear game again and a new mode to play after i beat the campaign that i am getting psyched for.

I've played Diablo since the original years ago. Diablo 3 was sort of a disappointment at first but grew to love it. This expansion has made the game "more complete" to me. I love the graphics and the music. I think the Devs did a fantastic job on this one.

I loved diablo 3 right when it came out but found the auction house made things way to easy!! Glad they got rid of it and went back to the searching for loot instead of buying!! The new act is an awesome add on and back to the way d should be!! A must play

What Diablo 3 should have been at launch. Better loot, revamped skills and runes, enchanting, transmogrification. Adventure mode and rifts make farming a lot more enjoyable than ever before. Not to mention new a class. Over all well worth the price.

IMHO this is what all Diablo fans were waiting for the first time around. D3 was exciting for about 3 weeks and then became a boring repeat every time. ROS is what D3 should have been at the release. If you haven't played in months then be prepared to download a huge patch and sell all your gear for new loot. ROS feels like a new game that runs smooth and is not too hard but not that easy. This is your classic slash and bash game although there is still no PvP. The new character the Crusader is worth the trouble of leveling up. Guaranteed to be nerfed, enjoy the Crusader now as it is much too powerful. The great thing is no paragon level limits, point distribution now, and Adventure mode changes things up enough to keep you interested.

If you like Diablo III, you'll love this expansion no matter what. If you enjoyed Diablo III but felt like the loot system lacked good drops, felt there wasn't enough replay value, and wanted to customize your character's stats, this will fill in those gaps. Not only is there a new loot system with the update, but the items dropped in Act V are even better than in others. Once you reach max level 70, you will continue to earn "extra" levels to then adjust stats to your choosing. The addition of the Adventure mode lets you replay the game to earn rarer loot in a different way. I feel like if you've at least enjoyed some of Diablo III, you should pick this up and see the overhaul they've done to make fans happy

I love this expansion. It is nice and dark/gothic like you would expect from a Diablo game. The art book is great and offers nice insight as to what the artist were thinking when designing the game.
