High quality ice, better than I anticipated. Not as loud as I presumed. Great value than other brands. Quality, fit and finish is what I expected. No need for the reservoir unless you need a high quantity of ice over a period of time. Haven’t used the WiFi, don’t think there is a real need for it.

The best counter top ice maker ever!!!! It looks beautiful and makes the best ice. Like seriously this has helped me work from home better because all of my drinks have chewable ice! It’s hard to explain until you’ve chewed on it. But I know it’s expensive. Took me a while to buy it but I’m happy!

I had the first gen Opal ice maker for 5 years, and it finally died. Loved that thing. Got this one as its replacement. Followed the initial setup procedure and cleaning procedures. I started noticing the ice had a smell, and the inner water tank was not clear water. I run high quality bottled water through it. So I cleaned it again and even got some brushes to clean inside the drain hoses on the outside of the unit. Didn't take too long after the cleaning to notice the ice had a smell and the water was discolored. So, I took the entire unit apart, and I was utterly shocked at what I saw. I cleaned the entire thing, and STILL have the same problem. The inner water tank is basically a breeding ground because it isn't cooled and sits next to components that get hot. That spreads to the internal lines. Looks like a poor design, from the research I've done. Others have the same issue. Very disappointing!! I shouldn't have to take the entire ice machine apart every single month to clean it....

We are absolutely loving our ice maker! Other reviews stated it was loud but ours hasn’t been. We love the nugget ice too especially for a countertop ice maker! Love that the water reservoir is also easier to keep clean than most countertop ice makers.

It’s bomb and you need one. Def not an item for someone not willing to maintain it as it requires weekly cleaning. It will make noise when it needs to be defrosted but other than that it’s pretty quiet and makes the best ice ever. Best if you have a handy husband who is willing to raise your cupboard so it fits on your countertop!

So far, I love this ice maker. We had a smaller basic table top ice maker but we would go through the ice so fast and the machine got dirty easily on the inside. I've always wanted a "chewable" ice maker, but they are pricey. I decided to treat myself and get it. It makes plenty of ice for a family of 4. It's easy to clean and put together.

We have looked at these for years but was dissuaded from purchasing until GE bought started making these and their reliability improved. Have had this machine for a couple weeks so far, and we love it. Even the dog loves it. It takes a little bit of effort following the directions to get it set up and running making clean ice, but once that was done it has been working flawlessly. We have been using this ice so exclusively, that I shut off the ice maker on my fridge/freezer. You'll be surprised how fast this makes ice. We don't understand the noise complaints in other reviews. We have an open living style home, and don't really notice it running. It also shuts off when it recognizes the bin is full, so it doesn't run constantly. The machine may seem expensive, but if it lasts even just a couple years (we bought an extended warranty), we figure we're spending about $1 per week on the exact kind of ice we like. We're finding we are drinking a lot more water and unsweet iced tea with this kind of ice readily available. We didn't buy the separate water filter for this, we just use filtered water from our fridge dispenser to fill the side tank on the nugget ice maker. We love this machine so far!

We purchased this ice maker with extreme hesitation as we did not think it would keep up with our family of eight. It is a great little machine and we absolutely love the nugget ice. This ice maker works like a charm, it is constantly making ice and the side reservoir is a great addition.

Upon delivery, the shipping box was soaking/dripping wet and water had absorbed up into the corregated box. It had not rained the day of delivery. The end of the Ice Maker was slightly dented in. Not what we expect from Best Buy. Unpacking is easy, set up is easy! The cleaning directions in the manual or different than the inserted cleaning sheet. You must remove the filter 1st to initially run the cleaning cycle. As advertised it made its 1st few nugget in 20 minutes. Noise is apparent but not obnoxious. It continuously makes a squeaky mouse sound. 3 hours it was 1/2 full. Its not fast. The side tank is a “bad” design. The washer in the side tank fill cap will fall off if you are not careful. If you have it located under a cabinet, it has to be moved out every time you add water. Water is added to the bottom of the side tank as you have to flip it upside down to add water. Thats 50 lbs you will move to get the side tank off for filling. You will be moving this 4-5 x a day with full use! I suggest placing it on a plastic tray you can slide/pull out. WiFi is an easy setup and programming for your run times. Dont buy this without the Geek Squad warranty. Recommend 4 years + the manufacturer warranty.

Best ice machine I have ever had and I love it. I had a different brand and it was loud and broke in less than a year. This one is fantastic and I tell everyone about how great it is and the ice is just wonderful. I love to eat crunchy ice. I am going to get my son one for Christmas.

I purchased the Opal 2.0 in-store brand new and was really shocked and disappointed to discover that the box contained a large amount of MOLD (see photos). After lugging this heavy box home it’s a real pain to have to go back to the store to replace it which is ultimately what we did. But the story doesn’t end there, the store ended up opening 2 more boxes and they all contained mold at the bottom. After spending all that time and money we ultimately decided to just keep the one that had the least amount of mold and heavily sanitized it when we got home. Overall I don’t believe this unit is worth the $600, I think $400-$450 would be more reasonable. Aside from the mold issues, the higher cost of the Opal 2 is likely due to the added WiFi technology which to me is gimmicky for an ice maker and not truly functional. The only way to use the wifi technology is to download the poorly developed SmartHQ app (a cheap web-based app) which forces you to enter a ton of private info like your phone number, email, address, and DOB just to register. Since it’s web-based there is no secure login options like Apple sign-on, FaceTime authentication, or any other modern security methods. As for the product itself, it’s a lot bigger than I expected even though it still has the same 3 lb capacity as the cheaper Opal 1.0. It is a nice looking ice maker for sure and it’s very quiet, but there are decent looking nugget ice makers out there that are cheaper, have more holding capacity, and include actual beneficial features like automatic dispensing. If I had more time and patience to purchase any different unit I would gladly give another brand a try before hunkering down the $600 for this.

Love this machine, I’m constantly using this through out the day. Makes ice fast which is the best part of it!!!

The best investment I ever maid on a electronic.It has been so useful my kids love it well spent,I was scared on the comments but it actually gets the job done.And with this hot summer was the best ever just adding I’ve to all our drinks never ran out.

The ice is like sonic ice love the facts it only takes 20 min for it to start making ice this is a wonderful machine however must have the counter space Bc the cord must be flat in order for it to work

This machine has made my wife so happy! No more runs to our local Sonic to buy her favorite soft, crunchy ice!

We had the occasional noises like everyone else have said. I run the cleaning function every 3-4 weeks with distilled vinager then bottled water. One day it was making much louder noises and "moans" that you could hear all the way across the house. Then a couple hours later it leaked out all the water from the machine and side tank all over my countertop, cabient and floor. I took the back panel off to see what it could have been. It looks like something has completely broken apart which caused all the water to drain out. Not happy since this is one of the most expensive nugget ice maker you can buy. We expected better quality at this price point. Bad thing is were also past our return date so were stuck with trying to fix this machine.
