Thank goodness BESTBUY let me exchange it at the store. Don't get me wrong, i would not have gotten another one if i didn't like it. The Opal is probably the best counter top portable ice maker around, but saying this, they are not great by any means, not yet anyway. The design is beautiful, looks really nice on the counter top. It makes soft pellet ice fairly quickly. The downside is that it does need to be cleaned quite often, probably every 2 weeks, because it does get nasty pretty quick. Also, when the machine goes into defrosting mode, the machine starts to scream and can get very, very loud. If you do a cleaning, this will normality quiet the machine down. It's not difficult to clean, but it's not that easy either. It gets easier to do the more you do it.
