    This is my second Opal in about 4 years. When it works, it is awesome. You get tons of the ‘good ice’ you love. You can set it up to wifi and use the app to set a schedule so it only makes ice when you need it and you don’t have to remember to turn it off and on every time or after power outages like other ice makers. However, once it starts giving you issues, then it makes you want to throw it off the roof. I have had this one for 5 months and it is starting to give me issues already. Just like with the old one I had, sometimes after running the ‘cleaning’ cycle (I often wonder what it is cleaning and how well, because it is so short and I see very little water running through the machine), it can take days before it realizes it has water and starts to make ice again. You keep trying to turn it on only for it to continuously say ‘add water’ no matter how much water is in there. For how much this costs, not only should all the parts be dishwasher safe (side unit and ice bucket), but you should get many years of ice, not just 5 months. I love it when it works, but this is my last Opal ice maker, unless they bring the price down to $150 out less so I can afford to replace it twice a year.

      We are sorry that you've had these issues and would like to help. If the water well is filled to the upper fill line and no ice is being produced, please perform this simple test: 1. Please start the Opal and switch to cleaning mode. Don't forget to detach the side tank. 2. Remove the screen/filter at the bottom corner of the reservoir, exposing the small white rubber inlet used for water circulation. 3. Make certain that the Opal is not connected to the phone app and that the water well is filled to the upper fill line with distilled water. 4. Remove the ice bin and press the button to see if the Opal pumps water. This could take up to 5 minutes to start. 5. Plug the small inlet with your finger for 10-15 seconds to create a vacuum within the pump/circulation system. 6. Release the plug and wait a minute or until you see water movement. 7. If you do not see a change, you may want to repeat these steps a couple of times. Note: If you see water movement, please switch to ice mode and run for 30 minutes. **You may also need to prime your pump so try using a Turkey Baster/Injector and gently fill the hose that doesn't go to the side tank with water, and then restart the machine.     Loved the ice maker cleaned regularly like suggested changed filters like suggested then After 6 months stuck in defrost mode tried everything they suggested now customer service is not very helpful have to jump through hoops just to get it fixed and will be without the unit for months they said That's ridiculous given the price of this thing

    I have given this produce 5 stars before as when it works it's great! However my latest experience has been two units that both began to get mechanically VERY NOISY just after a week of use...and both were returned/exchanged.

    Ive had ice machine for 6 months and its gradually gotten A LOT louder. Soemfjmes it has weird noises as well. The ice is great , but its very loud.

    I am on my 3rd machine in a year. (Warranty) We have taken care of it by the book, exactly how it says and I have replaced it twice. BUY THE WARRANTY!

    Didnt put out any ice. Worked for a little bit annd them stopped making ice.
