The first version I got when I purchased my iPod the port covers broke off pretty fast. Even the volume cover part popped off. This case is greatly improved! FYI you have no choice on cases for the 4th gen iPod it's hard to find had no choice, so I purchase this case again.

This was a good value as the otter box was significantly more money and we didn't see a lot of extra value for the money

But it didn't crack the material or anything- easy to modify to his needs.
