Great movie with positive values! I love the fact that my college student wanted this as a stocking stuffer. A nice change from all of the "Shoot them up" Xbox games. Perfect movie to share with young cousins and older cousins alike!

How To Train Your Dragon 2 is a surprisingly good sequel. The animation is, of course, outstanding but more then that, the story is very well written too. The cast from the original movie is back. Some time has passed from the end of the first adventure and the characters have grown (as one would expect of mid to late teenagers). There are new characters, new villain's (dragon and man) and we learn much more about Hiccups mother who is also introduced in the film. There are many fun and exciting things for people of all ages to enjoy. There is also a very sad passing of one character that was an emotional punch in the heart but it fits well with the storyline. (I do not want to say more as it would spoil part of the movie.) DreamWorks has done it again. It is not often one can say that a sequel was as good, or better, then the original but this is one of those rare VERY WELL DONE sequels. Grab some popcorn, snuggle up with a blanket and a loved one (child or special someone) and enjoy the flight!

First of all I am a big fan of steelbooks. They just look really nice, especially when all together. The ugly blue or black plastic case just aren't worth paying for. That being said only buy steelbooks when on sale. As far as the movie... if you have seen the first one, this one is just as good but on a more serious note. Without telling the story it brings a new light and unexpecting tragedy to the story. The interplay between Hiccup and Toothless is much more in the first movie that the second but this one is more about family. Finding your own place in life and discovering who you are meant to be. Well worth the price. Got it on sale though :-)

I am a big HTTYD fan, I think the series is phenomenal and that each successive movie has been amazing, so perhaps I'm biased writing this review. That being said HTTYD 2 is a great continuation of the first movie, characters are more developed in this sequel and significant changes happen to the overall story. This movie isn't another cash grab like some other sequels are, this movie will progresses the overall story, increases our understanding of the characters, and sets up the overall theme of the final movie in the trilogy. This movie is an A+ from me and I think you'll love it also.

Few sequels manage to carry the same charm or in some cases keep the same impact that the first as impressive or fresh but How to Train Your Dragon 2 never once seemed to have lost any of the same qualities that made the first one of the best animated films, in my personal opinion. 2 delivers with such beautiful animation, and a solid storyline that it is easily as good in comparison to its predecessor. Definitely worth owning let alone watching, and a film that everyone in the family can truly enjoy.

It's five years after "How to Train Your Dragon," life on Berk has changed for the better, and something strange is on the horizon for Hiccup and his friends. This fills in more background of the Vikings of Berk, as well as Hiccup & his family. The way we learn about these things is beautifully done, and two very important new characters come on stage. The way Valka first appears is the most dramatic entrance in a film since Darth Vader made his entrance in "Star Wars IV: A New Hope." Anyone who enjoyed the first "Dragon" film should find this one equally enjoyable. It is that rare thing among movies, a sequel that is even better than the first film, as well as a fine movie just by itself.

Everyone raves about Disney movies, they've become the gold standard for animation. However, I think Dreamworks is just as good if not better (for some of their movies). How to Train Your Dragon is an amazing example of that! Watch this movie. Buy this movie. Support movies other than Disney (but also buy Disney movies too. They're good as well... just don't forget about the other guys)! This is a fun movie for both kids and adults. I highly recommend it.

I'm reviewing this primarily because of the incredibly low price I found this disc at on Black Friday. It made it impossible for me to pass up! I purchased three copies. Admittedly, I hadn't seen this sequel yet, though I'd seen the original How To Train Your Dragon, and enjoyed it very much. So I'm glad to be able to get my hands on the sequel, plus give two copies as gifts, for such a great price. Thank you!

When this movie came out in theatres, all I heard about it was that it was a horrible movie to put out on Father's day weekend. After waiting for the Disc release and watching the movie myself, I am relieved that the critics and I completely disagree once again. More often than not it seems they all focus on one nitpicky part and blow it all out of proportion. I found the movie to be highly entertaining, with not only the main story to keep your attention, but with a lot of background elements going on at the same time. I look forward to watching this movie again with my family and my nephew.

How to Train Your Dragon 2 is a worthy follow-up to the gem that was How to Train Your Dragon, and the new 4k presentation breathes even more life into a movie that was already visually fantastic on Blu-ray. The steelbook itself is also gorgeous, with brilliant colors and a glossy sheen across the entire surface. If you are already considering the upgrade to 4k, then this steelbook (at a similar price point as the normal 4k) is a no-brainer.

Our 6 year old & 4 year old absolutely love How to Train Your Dragon series. This was another must have movie for both Blu-ray and digital. Of course are kids call the movie toothless 2 haha! As an adult, I feel like this is one of the good movies that a child can watch and doesn't teach them something that we disagree with.

Great Movie for the Whole Family

This movie is for once a sequel that lives up to the original movie. It is cute, heartfelt, and full of humor, with something for everyone in the family. It progresses the story in a believable path with the characters growing up and facing challenges associated with that. It explores new territory of the world, both geographically and emotionally with the relationships between people and between dragons and riders that was begun in the first movie. I love the first movie and am so happy that this one did not let me down like many sequels tend to do.

I loved the first one and was a bit hesitant as to whether the sequel would/could bring enough to the table, but I was very surprised. Be warned that, just like the characters have aged, so too has the storyline. It is definitely a more mature plot and can get pretty heavy, which roughly translates to younger kids being bored at some of the more adult themes as well as scared by them. All in all, it quickly moved up to a position in my top 5 animated movies of all time, which include The Lion King, The Fox and the Hound and the first Dragon. Enjoy

I never had the chance to experience How to Train Your Dragon 2 in the theater and I'm also a huge fan of the first film, so I was excited to finally pick up 2 and check it out. How to Train Your Dragon 2 is another stunningly beautiful film from Dreamworks matching, if not exceeding, the first film. What I found lacking in this film however was the same level of charm that the first film had. It has a good story with much more emotion for the human characters but I really enjoyed the relationship that was built between Hiccup and Toothless in the first film. I almost wish that 2 had focused more around the dragons again but still had strong human connections. How to Train Your Dragon 2 is a great movie don't get me wrong, but it feels like a lesser movie that the first installment.

    Great 3D Blu-ray Release

The quality of the 3D in this release is outstanding - some of the best 3D available. The animation itself is gorgeous, and it's a fun, clean film for the whole family to enjoy. Dreamworks has really knocked it out of the park concerning this franchise, and this film is a fine addition. I'm very glad they decided to include the separate 2D disc which contains the film's bonus features (as the 3D disc contains only the film).

I loved the original How to Train Your Dragon and HTTYD 2 has gone above and beyond what I expected. The storyline is compelling, there's dragon action aplenty, and it's, again, well-voiced by the actors. But it's small details that really help set the film apart. Hiccup has grown up a bit since the last movie and looks a little older - still much of the young Hiccup remains, but there's a growing mannishness that's there as well. Just one example of how diligently the animators and artists worked to make an outstanding film.

Between Frozen and Dragon 2, it is tough to pick our family favorite movie. We took our children to see this twice in the theater and have watched it four times for family movie night. No idea how many times the kids have watched it by themselves. Like Frozen, it is a great story that is entertaining for adults and children both. The humor is clean and understandable for most kids over three. The action is great and engages my kids every time, even though they know what is going to happen. I highly recommend this movie.
