This computer is fantastic for the price. The i5 processor is fast enough to handle most tasks up to mid range video games and is more than enough for the use of a student or business person. The touch screen is particularly great as it allows for input when the track pad or "control zone" as hp puts decides to be unresponsive which it does quick often. The size of this computer also makes it great for travel as it is light at around 5-6 pounds and quite thin, however to accommodate the thinness it lacks a cd drive which may be off putting to some, it doesn't bother me one bit. The biggest complaint about this laptop is that the wireless card will sometimes drop the wifi signal and need to be reconnected. Windows 8.1 almost needs to be utilized on a touch screen, it's much more intuitive using the screen to navigate than traditional input methods. This is a great computer to get especially when priced below 800 dollars, I picked it up without looking much because i needed a computer asap as my old one had died, quite happy with the spur of the moment purchase.

Great lap top to replace an older version of HP, for a college student, it has all what I need. Great sound, nice wide screen, light weight that can fit in my backpack. I can switch between keyboard and touch screen easily. Great storage capacity! I tried different lap tops and this is my favorite. HP done a great job improving its products, it's very durable, I used the previous one for 7 years. I prefer it over apple laptops!

This is an overall decent laptop. It has a sleek design and it is easy to tote around to the coffee shop and school and such. The screen has beautiful resolution and the touch screen works wonderfully. My biggest concerns are Windows 8 and the not-so-wonderful track pad. When I first started using my computer, Windows 8 made it restart a lot and with all of the app updates, it takes a long time to update them. The track pad is the worst track pad I have ever used on a laptop computer. I even prefer my 5 year old HP notebook track pad to this one. It glitches out a lot and I get a "ghost" cursor often where the cursor gets a mind of its own. It is not responsive a lot of the time which is super disappointing, because otherwise this laptop is perfect for me.

First off, I got this computer on sale and open box, so the price was excellent. The high resolution 1080 screen is great and the touch screen feature comes in really handy. Windows 8 is pretty cool as well. The major downside is the "control zone trackpad," which works very poorly. The pointer gets very glitchy and jumpy, and clicks/highlights random things (this is a documented problem by others as well, so it isn't just me). Also, I expected the processor (a high end i5 fourth gen) to work a little faster than it has so far. For the open box/sale price, it has been great, but I'd be a little more careful before spending full price on it.

This computer has done me good for my online classes. I wanted a good computer that had great storage and ram size. I love that its a touchscreen, it makes it easier and faster to navigate around. The price wasn't severe, but was a little bit higher than I was use to. I believe quality is everything and in this case it stands up to its price. I have had it freeze on me a few times and battery shuts it down at 11%. I think it does pretty good way better than my old Dell...... Yay Hp

Great little computer,,..,fast.....alot of technical options to use. Taking some time to get acquainted with Windows 8 and not quite there yet. Like the new programs I am learning to use. Be patient if you are not computer savvy.....Windows 8 is different. Like the touch screen more and more. Also like the option of using the mouse.

I like the computer. It works fine. I do not like when touching the screen and it freezes. Good thing the keyboard always works. I got a good deal when I purchased this. Oh plus I love the sound quality.

I love this laptop. I've only had it for about 2 months, but so far it's very fast. I use it for internet, watching videos, organizing pictures and files, paying bills, and blogging. I haven't tried playing games on it though. But it was a great investment. It has a touch screen, but I haven't used it yet.

This was my first computer purchased over $500 and it's one of my greatest purchases. I was new to the touch screen, and I was sure that it would have stopped working or malfunctioned by now. I bought this computer in June 2014 and it still runs as if it was newly purchased. I use this computer for school and research, so I have to save all of my documents and pdfs. It has a lot of memory and space. Only thing that bothers me is when I'm typing, the mouse pad is very sensitive to touching. So when I'm writing papers, I often times find my self accidentally highlighting paragraphs or sentences, then unintentionally deleting what I just wrote. Happens a lot. If it wasn't for that, I would give this 5 stars. But I love the backlight on the keyboard, the beats audio speakers (plays exceptionally loud and clear), and the sleek design!

I purchased this laptop to take with me to law school. The laptop has an excellent vibrant display. It works well for my research and writing. The display and sound are also great during those relaxing moments of streaming movies. The one issue that I have found with the laptop is the trackpad does sometimes appear to have a mind of its own; it either will not respond or it will perform actions without my input. After playing with the settings, I manage to get around four hours of battery life off a full charge when only doing internet browsing and word processing. The life is obviously shortened when performing more labor intense activities such as streaming movies or video chatting.

Strong performer with great sound quality and excellent visual clarity. Puzzling Control zone that conflicts with my left hand and too often causes my document in play to be blocked, and I have to ctrl alt del to get back to the document that I'm using.

Having the touch screen makes learning Windows 8.1 much easier. Each time I log on I learn something new and how to do something "old style" like in Windows 7. The computer is so much quicker than my old XP that it replaces.

I became a tetraplegic four years ago and have very little finger movement. After being out of the Computerworld 4 years, this is a great PC to get started back in that field. The Internet protection program we bought was Webroot and store manager picked up the version with a CD and this computer does not have a CD Drive. We have very slow Internet at home and the Geek squad was unable to remotely install the web root and had to take it back to the store which was a bit of an inconvenience. Otherwise the machine was a good investment!

All of the features that I was interested in are provided with the the laptop and are great: bright screen/colors, keyboard back light, and touch screen. Unfortunately, ever since I've bought the laptop the 'control zone'' doesn't work very well at all and the pointer tends to move sporadically on it's own and click/select things that it rolls over. I'm not able to use the laptop at all without a wireless mouse which is not what I intended to do with the laptop in the first place.

Its a great value for the convenience of having a 'normal' laptop and touch screen in one. The screen size with its brilliance is awesome. I actually downsized from a much larger screen. I haven't missed it at all. Its responsiveness and quickness to all actions is instantaneous. The wifi and bluetooth have excellent range. As with most laptops the battery life is the typical 3 hours-ish depending on what you doing. The lack of a cd drive helps with it being so light weight. The sound is conveniently placed on the top of the key board which certainly eliminates the usual muffle you get when it's on the bottom or side, excellent sound quality. The video / sound quality for Skype, Google+, etc is also great. It's been about 3 months since it has been purchased, no issues, problems or hiccups.

This is my first laptop, I was concerned about changing from a desktop model, but find the Envy's ease of use and convenience definite bonuses. This 15.6 model screen size is perfect for my needs and I love the touch screen capabilities. Haven't really challenged the bAttery life yet but seems adequate. I do however prefer external speakers.
