    Freshman Starter Laptop

Freshman female in college, starting and completing nearly most of my first semester without a laptop. I wanted something that would suit all or most of my wants while still fulfilling my primary needs for a laptop. First things first, what I wanted: laptop with a touchscreen, 4K display, and at least 1 TB of space. I also wanted the NVIDIA Geforce chip. What I got: 4k display, 512 gb of space (about 460 with bloatware and whatnot), and the chip. I was considering a Macbook Pro (13/latest model), Razer Blade Stealth (13/latest model). I also wanted a laptop that would be able to handle some light gaming. All in all, the laptop is great, aesthetically pleasing and a pleasure to use overall.

Amazing, fast, powerful touchscreen laptop. I'm in love with it! It's not only fast it's beautiful to look at, so elegant. And being able to also use it as a tablet is an added plus.

    Fast, Powerful, Long-Lasting Laptop

The Spectre is a laptop that doubles as a tablet. I don't expect to use it much in tablet mode, if ever. Consequently the touch screen is often more an annoyance that a positive feature. I sometimes touch the screen while pointing out something to a colleague only to accidentally make an unintended change to the display. But that's just one of a few minor quibbles. The primary reason I bought this machine was the 500 GB SSD drive. The laptop boots up in seconds, and operations that involve a lot of I/O to the hard drive are very fast. (I mostly use this machine to run ArcGIS Desktop for the class I teach in Geographic Information Systems.) The laptop has a slim form factor which makes it lightweight despite the relatively large 15" screen. My last laptop was a 13.4" screen that was adequate to the job, but the extra real estate offered by the 15" screen is much appreciated. In fact, I had to reduce the Display from its recommended 3840 x 2160 setting to 2048 x 1152 to make it easier to capture readable screenshots. The screen was quite legible at the higher resolution, but the text was too small to project in PowerPoint presentations. Battery life has been quite good. I haven't tested the battery from 100% charge to near 0%, but I've routinely worked 4 - 5 hours without charging. About the quibbles: The matte finish of the device is very attractive, but it shows handling marks that were easily disguised on my previous HP Pavillion's textured surface. The trackpad no longer has dedicated left & right mouse buttons, but instead they are integrated as the lower part of the trackpad. This seems to be the trend with most modern laptops so it isn't a differentiator when buying, just something you may need to adapt to. Finally, the design makes it unusually difficult to raise the screen and open the laptop. There is a small incised space at the front for inserting a fingertip, but raising up at that point usually lifts the entire device rather than raising the screen. None of these quibbles should discourage you from purchasing this otherwise fine laptop.

    Great Computer

I buy this computer for my graduate study, and it perform good until now. The battery can use a long time so I never need to recharge at school, and the computer is very fast. The only thing I am not very satisfied is the noise, which like electric sound and sometimes come out then disappear suddenly. The sound is very obvious when I use my computer with my friend. Her Mac is always silent, and my spectre is somehow noisy(we do the same thing on computer).

First of all I have a bias towards copper tones and so I loved the color and styling for this laptop. This model with the new 8th Gen processor and solid specs (RAM and SSD) was what I needed and the thanksgiving deal was the clincher. I don't game much on laptops and so the GPU on this was good for my needs and if needed an external GPU can be added..wow. 4k display is excellent and touch works well. I have had this for about 2 weeks, build quality is top notch and battery life (avg. 8 hours) exceeds any windows laptop that I have had in the past. Satisfied.

This PC works great , i have had Lenovo Yoga2 for my personal use use, but touch screen in Lenovo was not the best. This one works great on regular Performance, Screen clarity and also touch response is better than Lenovo. there was some lag i experienced once i tried to strees test this when i started multple programs like a racing game , big excel file(s) , multiple Chorme windows and some more applications which takes more CPUs - but that was still workable. One Downside is Weight( little bit on heavier side- but guess you would expect that with 15.6" )

I purchased the latest generation Spectre , and found it to be an overall a really good laptop. It is quick, responsive( I run database programs IE: filemaker , ETC. and it breezes thru 1000's of records quite quickly. The battery lasts me7-9 hours of regular use( chrome tabs, database, emails .) My only complaint so far is that I need to hit the space bar quite hard or sometimes it wont inserta space. ( I'm hoping this loosens up as I use it) Otherwise its really good. and the screen is beautiful.

This laptop is beautiful! I have been very pleased by the battery life so far, though I haven't used it for Netflix yet. The I was happy to find that there was a protective (leather type) sleeve that came with the computer. I am new to Windows 10 so that is the only thing so far that is frustrating. The touch-pad is more sensitive than I am used to which has caused slight irritation, but I am sure that is only because I am accustomed to using a laptop from 2007. I'm thrilled about my purchase.

    Great Laptop, Dissapointing Issues

This laptop was fast, ascetically pleasing and fun to operate while i had it. As a web developer and graphic designer, this laptop really appealed to me and i waited half a year to get for the right price along with Lenovo Yoga 720. Unfortunately, it had a couple issues that were hard to overlook for the money i paid for it. I actually went through 2 before i decided to not bother with it anymore. For some reason, the laptops had a hard time being quiet. The fans would constantly run and get really hot, even while only just web browsing. It got really annoying running Photoshop and apps that even used a slight amount of power. The fans would get louder constantly until you close what your were doing. Only for it to do it again shortly after. Off the charger, the laptop would emit a high pitch noise if the brightness was turned on high enough. The laptop also emitted some kind of electric, scratchy noise occasionally. I believe it was called "coil whine" and there was a Youtube video that demonstrates what it sounds like. If you are in an open room/environment, you probably wouldn't notice too much but you will when you are working in a quiet room. Tried doing a clean install and install updates to the drivers, but most were completely useless. It may have possibly gotten worse when i updated the BIOs, and the files provided would not allow me to rollback. As for positives, the screen was great to look at and very responsive. The laptop was really fast and the speakers sounded great. Plenty of space & ram to do your everyday tasks. Too bad this version did not provide the pen for me to try Windows Ink. Tablet mode was cool but the laptop was kind of awkward to handle since it is near bezel-less and pretty heavy. I almost hated how you had to be really careful so you would not scruff or scratch the finish on the laptop. You will want to baby this laptop if you care about it. Tried to look for solutions to keep it before i returned my last one but none were available. It's a shame because i really liked it, but it's hard to consider keeping when you have issues and see more coming in the future. Too bad, since it seems like everyone else sending in reviews got the "perfect laptop with no noise". Maybe i was at the wrong end of HP's quality control. Moving on to a better deal.

It’s a premium laptop in function and appearance. The SSD makes this computer really fast. Startup, launching programs, and managing files are very quick. The 4K and the display is sharp and colorful. Connectivity for peripherals is a little limited with 1-USB, 2-USB-C/charging, and 1-HDMI. I may look into one of the USB-C hubs if I find it necessary. Note that a leatherette protective sleeve comes with the computer, but a pen stylus is not included.

This really is a very nice laptop, there really is not much to say since all the reviews have said it all. I was not sure how well the track pad would work compared to my Mac book Pro, but to my surprise it works very well, the only thing is that it is very sensitive. The touch screen works well and the 4K for watching movies and playing games is awesome.

Setup was flawless. Excellent screen and very good kb. I bought this for travel, especially for using Lightroom and Photoshop photo editing on the road. I had to buy the Wacom Bamboo active pen separate but it is great for photo editing. My only complaint is weight - a pound plus more than the Dell XPS 13 I was considering; had the Dell (on sale) been a 2 in 1 I would likely have gotten that, but the Spectre has everything I need.

I got this laptop around Black Friday, so I got it for around $400.00 off. Overall, it's a great-looking laptop, boots very fast and the picture looks great! The trackpad can be a bit sensitive at times, but that's not too much of a headache. Given the specs, I think this laptop is a great buy, but I sure wouldn't pay the full $1600.00 price point for it. For $1200.00, this is a great laptop. For $1600.00, this laptop is just overpriced!

Pros *Very fast/powerful for a laptop *4k viewing is awesome *No sharp edges. Comfy in most respects. *No buggy issues

I really like the feel and snappiness of the laptop. The screen and performance is everything you would expect from this price range. The one problem I do have, however, is the build quality. I have had it for a couple weeks and have always carried in in the sleeve and never so much as scratched it. The one hinge on the laptop is bent outward. The laptop itself works properly but its annoying considering the price. I have handled it extremely gently and guessing it is from carrying it in the sleeve in my backpack. For the price you pay for it I think that there are better constructed options out there.

I needed a PC laptop, but with Apple retina display quality because I don't always have my reading glasses with me (but find that I can read just fine on my iPad). The 4K/UHD screen resolution is taking care of this. I was also in search of a much faster laptop (we use this to navigate when cruising on our sailboat) and again, this laptop is hitting the marks.

The speed is flawless. The setup is easy. The screen is beautiful. The cappuccino copper color is interesting. I have no negatives about this product. If you are looking for a sleek, high performance laptop then save your time because this laptop delivers, and I believe it is durable if treated properly (shutting it off, not wearing out the battery, etc).

Great laptop overall. Replaced my dead macbook and will not be going back. I program, do research, take notes with a bluetooth pen on the screen, and use on-the-go during business trips. Nice battery life and meets all my needs. I do website design, marketing, advertising, coding, graphic designs... All on this little machine. Love it.

This is my second review about this laptop. Excellent display, beautiful design, Nice track pad and key board. Superfast booting and well designed face recognition. All of them are good and very impresed, but unfortunately I have to return this since it has space bar issue. It is really annoying when you type and the space will not come . You need to hit in the middle to get the space. Checked HP support and they ran a diagnostic and found some issue. Asked me to send to repair. I took it to Geek squad to check if it is software issue so that I can fix and use. They found it is a mechanic issue and need to return. It was really pain to move all of data for the second time and all the software I have installed went of no use. Even though I like this machine very much I am not confident to go for a replacement. I will wait for few more reviews for the latest model and will buy again. If the charger loose connect and space bar issue was not there - this is the best in class laptop in all aspects.
