I gave this 4 stars because some of the pictures I printed came out looking like mud was on the faces. I tried reinserting the orange card to scan and see if that would fix the problem, but it did not. I wasted about 5-6 picture papers trying to fix this problem. It did not happen to all the pictures but a few of them came out like that. I even tried taking a picture in the app and printing it and 1 of the pictures still came out looking like mud was on my daughters face. So weird. Other than that, I love the fact that the pictures are slightly bigger than the other version. It was very easy to set-up and connect to my phone. The pictures in the app come out really good on the phone, but like I said 1 of them came out looking like mud on the face along with some of the other pictures that were not taken in the app. I don’t know why that is. The charging wire comes with a neat little tie so you can keep it wrapped and put it away until you need to charge it (the little things that make a difference). Lastly, the top is easy to take off so you can put in the paper. Its a very easy compact printer that comes in handy. I love the size of the pictures and the convenience of it so I can print pictures quickly for my scrapbook and my happy planner! I wanted to give it 5 stars, but because of that issue with the mud on the face, I docked it only 1 star.

The HP - Sprocket Select Photo Printer is an amazing device that allows you to share moments captured on your mobile device and create unique ways to display them in your home/office/ or even on your devices like tablets and laptops. It's really easy to use. Install the app on your phone, select you image(s) and print. The quality of the printed images is superb. It's stunning how clear they are. You can even increase the size of the image and the clarity remains. The Sprocket Select is really fun for the kids in our home. They can create amazing stickers of themselves & friends engaged in fun activities and put them on their phone case, tablet and even on their wall. I highly recommend the HP - Sprocket Select Photo Printer. It's an extremely fun way to print and display images from your phone.

    Bigger Prints and More Fun

I purchased the first HP Sprocket a few years ago for my then 16-year-old daughter. Although she was the user, it impressed me so much that I decided to write one of my first reviews ever. I loved the fact that it was so easy to use that I did not have to be her IT support as I usually am. We both loved the fact that the picture quality was very good for its size and the printer was so small and light that she could carry it in her purse everywhere she went. Battery lasted a long time and there was no ink to worry about. The same features that we loved are still in this new model, the Sprocket Select. One of the few complaints we had was that the picture were a bit too small. This model fixes that to an extent. It is not as big as I would want but it is not tiny anymore. My daughter thinks the size is perfect. I believe I just have to accept that dads look at it from a different perspective but I might admit that I really like it. The app allows you to add text, stickers designed by artists, and frames. They are so easy to use and fun. We quickly figured out that texts and stickers would rotate using two fingers or move using one. A huge range of colors and types are available for texts. After editing your pictures (optional), you can either print or share them online to Instagram, Facebook, or Google Photos. You can also tag your pictures and the app will automatically queue them up to print. My daughter, now 19, had a lot of fun with those features and I have found myself playing with them too. I’m not into journaling or collage but she is and her satisfaction is obvious and so is her 10-year-old sister that can now play with the older Sprocket. Printing takes about 1 minute and 15 seconds. Not especially fast but in my opinion, it is perfectly acceptable for this type of printer. It uses thermal papers, which means you don’t have to worry about ink or any other type of cartridge. Once you add the special paper, you’re ready to go. In my experience, this is much better than any Polaroid-style camera although the latter is more a retro preference and I cannot argue with that. One cool thing that we noticed is that the color of the LED that indicates power can be changed to a color that you like. Who would have thought of that? It has a beautiful design that most women and many men will like. Another cool feature is that by scanning the printer lid within the app, it will show battery status and connectivity in AR. While you can get better picture quality from a bigger printer, you probably won’t be dissatisfied. I love photography and all things considered I am happy with what this little thing can produce. Light and convenient, even for traveling, and it can be paired to more than one device/users, which HP calls party mode. I would easily buy it (I got this one for free) just like I did the first model simply because I truly like it and so does my daughter. It does deserve five starts and my recommendation.

Love this little printer, it's easy to set up with the app and makes zipping out prints from phone or tablet a breeze. I've connected it to my iPad and my iPhone XS Max and zipped out a few prints. Right off the bat first thing I noticed is the print quality is much improved over the old version that I have. It's definitely worth an upgrade that's for sure! The sticky prints are great for scrapbooking, doing collages or sticking on the wall (which I've done in my cubicle at work. It's perfect! It does work on its own battery and comes with a micro USB cable to charge it with. Unlike the prior model, it has a nice finish that looks great and fits nicely in my laptop bag. In my testing so far, I can't really find anything that I don't like other than things I wish it could do like taking non-stick paper or the ability to print the smaller or larger zink papers. The print size it does is great though. The App, which is probably the most important thing, does work well and enables you to create custom stickers, print photos and edit them before you print them. It really is much more than just an app to print the photos but instead helps you create just about anything with your photos and make your own stickers.I'd definitely recommend this printer to anyone looking for a tool to help with art/scrapbooking and collecting snapshots. If you have a prior generation, this is definitely one that's worth getting as it definitely prints far better than the original model that I have.

    Super Fun Portable Photo Printer

The HP Sprocket Select is a super fun way to print and edit photos on the go. Every time I introduce one of my friends to it they immediately ask where they can get one. The build quality is nice and compact, about as this as a DVD case and a little wider than my cell phone and it weighs less than half a pound. Inside the box there is the printer itself, a USB cable, a pack of zink paper to get you started and instructions. Everything was super easy to get started, just download the app, connect to your phone, install the paper and get printing. There are several options and fun things you can do with your photos. There are your usual editing tools, borders, text and stickers you can add to jazz up your photos. You can also add AR experiences where your photos are geo tagged and then when you use the app to scan your photo a bunch of location info pops up and other details. You can also break up a photo into tiles and have one photo split into 4 separate pieces and stick them together to get a unique collage effect. I took off one star because i found most photos I would have to edit to make them a tad bit brighter as i found a lot of them would come out darker than expected and the color was not accurate as the original photo, but coming from such a small printer and the ink paper technology i did not expect 100% accuracy. Other than that this is a great little printer that anyone would enjoy using and it'll provide a lot of fun times and memories.

I got this for my significant other as she loves to print photos to decorate our fridge, calendar, etc. When the HP Sprocket photo printer arrived I thought there had been a mistake. The box was so thin and light, I thought I was getting just paper and not a printer. Talk about a surprise when I opened the box and there's the HP Sprocket printer (about the size of a 2.5" portable harddrive), a charging cable and a box of paper ready to go. Setup took about 1 minute as the HP Sprocket paired quckly with her iPhone and then she had to do was download the app - 10 seconds later she was printing. The photos that the HP Sprocket prints are 2x3" so half size of standard photo but perfect for decorating and casual use (or your wallet as my wife insisted I do with one photo). The paper in the box has a sticker back, which you can peel off to attach as stickers. Cost to print is under .50c a photo but I think you could go cheaper if you bought paper in bulk. I'll explore that later on as all I know my wife is happy and if HP were to also make printers that printed at a bigger size I am sure she want that too! Definitely worthwhile. Oh... I can also see my kid using this, it's that much fun.

First off, we need to recognize that this is not a professional photo printer. If you are looking for great print quality, you should be looking at a different category of printers. This is a fun and a convenient gadget and it is pretty great. When taken out of the box, it is as small as the size of a mobile phone with a pretty good body design. Setup is very simple, uses USB cable to charge. Download the HP SPROCKET app to print pictures which has a good user interface. These pictures that get printed are great for dropping it into a note or a letter or thank you. Printing a photo takes about 30 seconds, sometimes lesser, which is good enough. There were a couple of photos that came out with blue streaks, but others were fine. The refill packs aren’t very expensive. The best part of this printer is that is a portable one. I would definitely recommend this to my friends.

This sprocket photo printer has been awesome so far. I do have experience using a small inkless photo printer like this from a competing brand and I have to say the HP might have a slight edge over the competitor. HP has done an outstanding job with the sprocket app. That is the best thing about this sprocket printer in my opinion. For starters, the app is very user friendly and easy to navigate and I have not noticed any glitching. Within the app there are so many different things you can do to your photos before printing them. I have personally used the small, sticker photos from printers like this for scrapbooking and it is very handy. The possibilities are nearly endless of what you can add to the photos from frames, stickers, filters, and even minor editing of the photos. The ability to add so many decorations or designs to plain photos is awesome and I think could be appealing to a very wide demographic. This printer is also very sleek looking and the design on the top is cool. Hard to believe something with this small of a footprint can print photos but it is awesome technology. This printer is also very easy to load to compared to the competitor. The one that I used from a competitor had to have the top slide up and then pulled off before loading, in my opinion posing a pretty big risk of breaking plastic tabs. But this hp sprocket printer just simply uses magnets to hold the top on so it is a simple pull up and set down to open and close the printer for loading. The magnetic design is excellent! In my opinion, those are all the strengths of the sprocket printer, however I think it slacks in print quality compared to the competitor. Now I know since this in an inkless system, one can only expect so much when it comes to quality, but since I’ve seen better from an inkless system like this, I know HP could have done better. The photos all have a strange, sharp/pixelated look to them, almost like you cranked up the sharpness on a photo all the way up on your phone. It is most noticeable on faces, and less noticeable on landscape photos. I also noticed all the photos come out with a purple/magenta haze to them, now this could probably be avoided by editing it before printing, of course it would look weird on screen but might print better. Lastly, I have also noticed when printing, that even if you do not move the photo in the print area, just simply select a photo and hit print, never touching the photo, the photo does not sit quite right on the paper. Almost all of my photos have come out slightly cropped, a little bit of all sides are missing but this is not the end of the world. But other photos have come out with a white line on top, like blank paper for the first more than ⅛ of and inch, despite on screen in the print area there was no white line nor was the photo touched or moved. Just a lack of consistency in printing is what I've noticed, however still impressive that photos can come out looking the way they do with no ink cartridges at all. Overall this is a great product that can have tons of uses and be appealing to many people, it would also make a great gift!

Straight out of the box, I plugged it, downloaded the app and followed the instructions. I placed the paper in the printer and was ready to print in less than five minutes from the time of opening the package. The quality of the photos printed is great. I took photos that we're taking with a 45 MP camera and photos taken with a cell phone and the print quality was great for such a small printer. Now my wife and I can take our own photos and stick them in our office or on our desk with ease.

This little pocket sized printer is a great thing to have around for gatherings, especially if you have teenaged girls like I do. I got the Sprocket a couple of days before our annual end-of-summer blowout and decided to let the girls try it out. They had an absolute blast and I was glad I had the forethought to pick up extra paper because they burned through all I had and kept asking for more. It's super-easy to connect and up to three people can be connected at once. That was a great bonus since several kids were snapping pics they wanted to print. I got worried about the battery life since it was running pretty much nonstop the whole afternoon so I plugged it in using the included micro USB cord but I think it would have been ok if I hadn't. I just didn't want a bunch of upset kids who couldn't print their funny pics to take home as souvenirs of the day. The prints aren't cheap at around $.65 each and the quality isn't like a true photo printing service, but the ease of use, ability to ad borders, words, and whatever else, and being able to have them ready to go before everyone left, upped the fun factor and made for good party favors. Since then, I've played around with printing from social media and that works as easily as tagging a photo and hitting print. Easy-peasy. I'd suggest stocking up on paper at first since you are likely to use this little printer a bunch just playing around. The ink is embedded in the paper so there's no worrying about running out in mid-print which is an added nicety. Only thing to note is that this is most definitely not a speed-demon, so if you're using it at a party be sure to allow plenty of time to let it do its thing.

Fun and Compact for Memorable Moments

In today’s digital age, it’s easy to capture and forget moments. With the HP Sprocket Select Photo Printer, cherishing your moments with an actual photograph in-hand is super fun and incredibly easy. Small and lightweight, just slightly larger than your phone, this printer is not only easy to carry around but performs super well given its size. Simply put, this device is an easy way to print small (2.3x3.4 inches) photographs for sharing moments with friends or loved ones, putting on the fridge, hanging on your dresser mirror, or for scrapbooking. By the way, this prints borderless photos – unlike other instant photo printers on the market. This printer supports multi-users as it can connect up to three users/devices at a time. So, imagine a chill night at home or a small get-together. A few of y’all can have fun printing some pretty cool photos of your evening/event. Simple to use, all you have to do is download the HP Sprocket app on your smartphone and go through a super-quick setup process. The printer connects via Bluetooth 5.0, so it’s wireless. The app connects to the camera roll on your phone, and you can select photos to print as-is, or make simple adjustments like brightening/darkening, color filters, or applying special graphics like borders and other cool stuff. Press print and voila! With the app, you can also connect your Instagram, Facebook, and Google Photos accounts to print your photos from those platforms. There are some gripes I have about this printer, though. The app is very basic when it comes to photo-editing. In fact, it’s not that great. You would be better off adjusting the brightness, color, etcetera from your phone’s default photo app or through something more advanced like Adobe Lightroom before printing via the Sprocket app. Also, the overall image quality of the final prints isn’t that great, but for what this device is – and what it can do instantly – it’s fine. The bottom line is the HP Sprocket Select is a great photo printer to print fun-size photos easily and quickly. I highly recommend for someone looking for something simple without a lot of fuss.

Setup is quick and easy for HP Sprocket Select Photo Printer. It came with HP Sprocket Select Photo Printer, HP Sprocket Plus photo paper (10 sheets), USB charging cable and Owner’s manual. I have charged the printer before starting the setup process. I have downloaded HP Sprocket app and followed the instructions to complete the setup. It can print glossy 2.3 x 3.4-inch sticky-backed photos for journals and other creative projects. I have printed a few photos from the phone gallery and quality came really good. The size of the printer is really small about cell phone size and it can be carried anywhere due to its compact size. I have purchased 100 sheets of zink paper to use it for my daughter’s school projects. She already used this printer for her two of her projects to print photos. It is a perfect printer for school projects as it prints photos in small size. The battery life is really good. The only issue is the cost of print for each photo and it will be around 50 cents and you can print photos less than 15 cents.
