    Worst phone ever!!!!

I agree 100% with the last reviewer that this is the worst phone. I bought this phone last night and it's going back tomorrow. All is does is freeze up. The incentive for buying this phone was the $10 unlimited data package which I thought was great since it's not considered a "smart phone". However, when I want to do something on the phone, all the links are "free trials" only. If I want to check my email it costs additional. And the processor is slow. It takes forever to get on the web and the service is bad. I don't recommend this to anyone.

Great phone when avoiding data plan

I have found this to be a sleek reasonably easy to us phone. I like the form factor/weight, and the battery life is acceptable. For heavy use it needs to be charged every night. The reception and audio sound quality are both good. The camera takes pretty decent photos too. It's the best phone I've seen when you want to pay for only calling and texting capabilities (no data plan - optional). I was able to use it with my existing calling plan. This phone uses the BREW OS (not android) so the capability is relatively basic. For example, I can use blue tooth to transfer files, photos back and forth, but I can't use Bluetooth to sync with my Outlook Calendar. This can only be done with the supplied USB cable. The user interface is clean, simple and easily enables you to slide between screens for different functionality. Screen customization is good though not great (i.e. I can't set it up to have one-touch access to turning bluetooth on/off). And it does the basics like downloading you favorite songs/ringtones to be used for individual contact numbers. The free HTC sync tool for windows (Mac not supported) is minimal at best. Sometimes it syncs all my calendar entries, and sometimes it doesn't. Unfortunately, I've had calendar entries in my Outlook wiped out when syncing (not good). It's not intuitive when attempting to figure where the sync went wrong. This can get painful if you rely on calendar syncing. Reception - good Call quality - very good camera - good Texting - good, though it's easier to fat finger with the keyboard vs. iPhone Overall, I really like it compared to what's out there when you're not interested in paying for another data plan.

    Great "Smart" basic phone

First off I work with cell phones so I know a little bit about them. Secondly, I last had a smart phone. This phone is a wonderful, easy to use phone. The touch screen isn't cheap like other comparable phones, and I haven't seen any of the problems others complain about. I would gladly buy this phone again, and I would easily sell this phone to others. Texting is NOT an issue, and the data CAN be turned off so it's not running all the time. I would buy it over and over again.

This phone looks nice and easy to use, but it has too many system errors... things like "Oops, system error..." also, it drops calls while not even moving!!! and has power outage that requires having to reinstall a charged battery!!! I returned it. Best Buy has best customer service. I hope AT&T will start offering more advance reliable phones that does not require a data or internet plan... such as smart phones. They are tooo big to be challanged!

Great Features at a Great Price

I just got this phone a few days ago, so I spent the first full day testing out the features. Pros: Call quality, HTC Sense, Predictive text, Threaded messages, multiple home screens, good customization, among others. Cons: None that I can tell except for the subpar battery. It lasted about one day of a lot of usage. But I might do another review if I see it lasts longer on a different setting. Also the screen smudges easily, so I was always wiping it off. Anyway, I really enjoyed using this phone (being that it is light years ahead of my old LG Vu) , and it was pretty easy to set up once the sim card was activated.

Great phone without having to pay for dataplan

I finally gave up my Razor after many years - was looking for a phone that was easy to text on but did not want to pay for a dataplan. After some practice, I found the texting to be easy. I like the look of the phone. The battery life is pretty good as compared to most smart phones. I used it moderately for 2 days without a recharge. It is easy to learn how to use and has many options, if you choose to use them. I am having a problem finding a cover for the phone - not much to choose from out there. The call quality is okay - but not as good as my old Razor.

    Awful

My wife and I upgraded our phones to this. We both loved it for the first day then started to get the exact same problems. We had the phone for less than one month (thank God I could still return it). When a text message was recieved we would get it three or four times. This we annoying, but we dealt with it. Then it stopped playing sound for all incoming text messages no matter what we or AT&T did to correct it. The web browser has a problem loading any page the first time. You continually have to refresh the screen or "click" the link that appears on the screen. If you have any bluetooth device (such as the one in my car or a handsfree set) then this phone is not for you. I would have to charge the phone three times a day with the bluetooth left on. After turning the feature off and using it only when needed I only had to charge the battery about twice a day. The camera is very touchy when it comes to still pictures. If you shake/ twitch at all then the picture will come out fuzzy/ distorted. The majority of the applications, although neat, will come with monthly charges, incluiding the "City ID" function that automatically is used on start up, but does ask if you want to continue use after your two week trial. With the short battery life, multiple texts for the same message, the internet always needing to be reloaded, and the camera a two star rating is being nice.

Descent smartphone without a smartphone plan

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I choose this phone for my wife, because she wanted a phone that took descent pictures and video. She didn't want to pay for a plan so a smartphone was not going to work. The construction of the phone is sturdy enough. The camera does take descent pictures and video (better than her old phone at least). Texting is alright for her and after the update I haven't heard her complain about the phones random dialing while she was in a call. Something with the screen activating while her cheek was touching the screen. We were told that the weather widget does not use data, but it does. If you turn off the location tracking for the phone you keep the time portion of the widget but the weather goes away (and no more data charges). The screen is bright and you can slide through multiple screens by swiping your finger left or right. She uses the phone shortcuts, contacts, and main screen. The others can be turned off in the options menu.

Most Irriatating Phone I have ever used.

I am 17 years old, and when I say I know how to use a phone, I really do. I am extremely good at figuring things out and adjusting to new things quickly. I originally had a half touch screen phone with a slide out keyboard. I was nervous for switching to an all touch phone but I thought i would give it a try. I bought this phone 2 DAYS AGO and it has already shut off 6 times saying " oops, system error..restarting". I come back to the phone and it is just shut off, or when I am texting it freezes and I have to take the entire back off just to turn it back on again. I received one text atleast three times saying the same thing every couple of hours and when i would text with the phone I would be clearly typing in letters and then when I am in the middle of a word it switches to a symbol and I didnt even hit the symbol button.... Then all my text messages got deleted. Plugging it into its charger makes the phone go absolutely crazy. Overall I think this is the worst phone I have ever used in my entire life. My old phone that is 3 years old works like an angel compared to the HTC freestyle. SAVE YOUR MONEY. seriously. this is the best advise i could ever give you, this phone is awful. I am going to return it tomorrow and get my money back it is that bad. Hope I could help,

    Nice phone when in town

This phone has a nice large screen. Too many icons for someone without a data plan, though. Loud ringer when needed and easy to adjust volumn while talking. I use a stylus for texting. Comes with a data cable. Nice. I like being able to set up my favorites by the icons I've assigned to them. Unfortunately this phone does not pull in a strong signal. When visiting friends in the country my phone loses all bars quite easily, where as my Samsung had no problems with signal at the same location. HTC does not offer a nice Bluetooth PC suite like Nokia and Samsung do for transfering and saving data. I have to use the data cable, which is ok.

I upgraded to this phone 1 month ago. Have not had any problems with it so far. Battery life is so so, about 3 to 4 days I don't talk on it as much as I text with it. The screen is very touchy, but you get use to it. Have gotten duplicate textes, but not often. It comes with disc to help with set-up.

This phone is pretty good but if you dont have a $10 data plan then you must turn off the home screen weather update. You will get multiple copys of texts sent to you. Only froze on me once. Screen is amazing... Keyboard can be tricky for a week or so but when you get the hang of it its very good. Predictive texting is good also. Looks exactly like a smart phone. Cant go full speed texting because it cant keep up. Great UI for the phone. The outside doesnt get smudges. Very sterdy it feels very solid not like most phones that feel like plastic and fragile. Doesnt light up when you get a text. Only shows a tiny blinking light near the top when you get some type of notification.

Best featurephone on the market as for right now.

I've been reviewing lots of phones lately and this is the one feature-phone that's really stood out. Usually people think of feature-phones as a waste of money now that 4G smartphones and all that are out, but if your looking for a phone that's not a smartphone but you still want a phone that's still pretty high-end, this is the phone for you. You basically get everything you would get if you were to buy an HTC smartphone, but just for cheaper. It's worth the price, no doubt, and the features are the best you could possibly get with a feature-phone. Even if you don't have to get internet on this phone, you might as well because one of the biggest advantages with this phone is cheap unlimited internet. On feature-phones unlimited internet is only $10 dollars a month, and according to AT&T, this qualifies as feature-phone, and it has a very fast web browser that you could possibly compare to a smartphone. So you can have almost the full unlimited smartphone experience for $35 dollars less than it would cost for unlimited internet on a smartphone. It's pretty easy to use, but like I said, since it's so much a smartphone, the menu and stuff like are, too, so it might take some time to get used to. Battery life was great for me because I got about 2 and half days of moderate/heavy use, which is much better than any smartphone I've tested. The camera definitely isn't anything at all to brag about since it's only 3.2 megapixels with no flash or auto focus, and I've seen better pictures out of cameras with the same specs. But it does have fixed focus, which helps some, and it's good for quick snapshots. When it comes to texting, it doesn't have a physical keyboard, but the onscreen one is the best onscreen one I've ever seen on a feature-phone. And it does have conversation text and very good auto correction. So overall, this phone is the most top notch phone you could get that's not a smartphone.

System error after system error ... after system error - see a pattern here? If it wasn't giving me the message "Oops, system error. System restarting", it was freezing up or not waking up when I pushed the top button. This was an every day occurance - it started happening the day I got it - and I had it less than 2 weeks. Don't get this phone!

Phone works great. Only con that I have with the phone is that I constantly receive multiple messages of the same message. Usually helps if I delete all messages, but most of the time it doesn't. Other than that I love the phone. Couldn't have asked for anything better.

It is a shame they are having so many issues with this phones software. I bought two for my daughters and the from the beginning the phones locked up and send 3-5 copies of each text message, even after installing new firmware and dealing with customer service. I just recieved a replacement in the mail and it is doing the exact same thing.

This is by far the worse phone I have ever used in my life. It freezes all the time if you text a lot. It doesn't hold more than 200 texts till it starts slowing down. It will randomly turn off and always has system errors at the most inconvenient times. Best Buy talked this phone up and it was extremely disappointing. If you want this phone for the size and the lack of a data plan it needs don't get it. You will regret it. I hope this review discourages you from buying this phone. :)

Have had problems with texts since I got my phone on an upgrade. Before my 30 days was up I took the phone back and got another one. Same problem. I reported the issue to HTC months ago. I don’t mind so much the duplicate messages, but the ones I don’t receive for hours and hours are the problem. Some of my texts I receive are important to me and I’d like to receive them when sent. If you are thinking about buying this phone don’t. They are obviously not going to correct the problem. I should have bought the iphone instead. One thing that I found that if I make it a habit of deleting most of my texts it seems to help. I don’t get duplicates until I have several texts and then when I do the problem doesn’t go away for awhile even if I delete my text history. Don't buy this phone. You'll be sorry.
