This would actually be my fourth Insignia TV purchase. I previously bought the 24”, 32”, and 43” versions, and I am now a proud owner of Insignia’s largest size class of flat screen television. I mainly have used them to game on my consoles and watch my DVDs and Blu-Rays, and they all have looked and played great on all of them. 1080p is still good enough for me; I don’t need 4K yet right now. Nor do I use all those Smart TV features. Set up was quick, easy, and user friendly. There are different picture modes meant for different uses. I usually keep mine at the Vivid setting, for those bright, vibrant, brilliant colors, with slight adjustments. Images are sharp, clear, crisp, and colorful. The sound is adequate, but I might still suggest connecting some kind of external speaker system to the unit if one truly wants better quality audio. The product was also rather light for a television of its size, which surprised me a little. I thought I would be struggling to get it into place, but I was able to lift it on my own and set it where I wanted to, and I’m not a big guy. Note to possible future buyers: the tips of the TV’s legs, from one outer edge of a footprint to the other, is about 39 inches apart. I hope this helps those who wish to use the stands included with the TV and stand it up on a table of some kind. If you’re looking for just a basic, good-quality, modern flat-screen television that does the job and sells for a bargain price, you really can never go wrong with Insignia. While there are Smart TV and 4K versions of some of Insignia’s screens, the non-Smart TV and 720s and 1080s work just as well for those who do not need/use Smart TV features or are content with those resolutions for now. Particularly, it doesn’t get much better of a deal than $300 for a 55” screen. Other brand TVs of similar sizes would run up to around twice that much or more. I personally would like to thank Insignia and Best Buy for making the possibility of owning a flat screen television much more affordable and accessible. So what are you waiting for? Buy an Insignia flat-screen television set for your home or business today!

This is a good sized TV at a good price. I made it a point to look for a 1080p TV. I don't have anything to push 4K or 144Mhz. So 1080p does the job. I use it for my streamer (Roku) and console (Nintendo Switch), and it works. At 55" 1080p starts to look a little pixelated, and so if you're looking for something ultra crisp, then I'd recommend going with one of the 4K UHD type TVs. The picture is okay, the contrast is a little muted. So black isn't as deep. I don't see much difference in the presets. Overall the picture will work for my viewing. The price point is just right for what I'm looking for. I've had other brands which I payed over 1K+ a few year back only last a year or two, so if this lasts two years, then I've gotten my ~300 dollars worth. By that time, perhaps I'll have something that can push 4K resolutions. Bottom line, if you're videophile looking to be blown away by super crisp images, I'd look elsewhere. But if you're looking for a big, yet budget minded TV you can't go wrong with this one.

    Excellent 55" TV

This Insignia 55" TV replaced my six year old Samsung 55" TV that died of old age. The color on the Insignia is better than on the old TV, and the presets for video appearance (e.g., vivid, normal, movie) give me exactly the picture I want. I leave it set at Movie most of the time. I didn't need a smart TV because my blu-ray player already has those features. Most content available today is 1080p resolution or less, so I also didn't want to pay extra for 4K resolution. This TV delivers an excellent picture, and the price can't be beat. If you already have streaming/smart capability built in to your blu-ray or other component, you shouldn't hesitate to buy this TV.

I think this TV is probably the last of the great HD televisions. Everything is pretty much Smart 4K nowadays. We have a Fire TV box, a Chromecast device, a digital DVR and an Android TV box. I see zero reason for the Smart features in new TVs. because of an ongoing renovation project we currently sit about 5 feet away from this TV. My wife and I both agree that the picture is amazing. If you have pixelation I suggest it is a bandwidth issue. We have a great connect speed and I use ethernet for all of my video connections. I bought this TV when it was on sale for $249 and had a 10% off coupon. So I paid around $225 for it. This is my third Insignia TV. I have never been disappointed with this brand!

      Hi Rex.

We are very happy to read that you are having a great experience with the TV. Simpler TVs are a choice usually preferred by people who know their devices. Of course, this unit certainly works wonders proving to be cost-effective. A TV that offers you a premium experience at a budget.

I have toshiba 40", LG 42", Samsung 46" and insignia 32"-smart tv . Now this. Great experience with Insignia 32" smart TV , i have chromecast, Amazon Fire so skip smart TV. 16ft from wall to viewing area so 50"-55" inch. Bought Toshiba 49" Smart TV 249$ black friday, canceled order after saw InSign 55" @ the store check the review, glad i made the switch. Sound is 0-100 + Digital surround(dts) and usually 55/100 is loud. We usually watch movie without- audio out to small Sharp 50W microsystem. With audio out wow movie theater. Time will tell how long this will last. just bought this.

When shopping for a replacement TV, I wanted a 55", but didn't need it to be a smart TV or 4k. My options were fairly limited, but this one fit the bill perfectly. I was a little hesitant to try the Insignia brand, but after reading the reviews and talking to others that has owned them, I decided to purchase. I'm VERY happy with the picture quality, and have enjoyed the TV very much. 3 HDMI ports (more than the Samsung it replaced, and more than the Sony in the other room). Super easy set up and use. No issues, complaints, or cons. This is a great TV for the price.

I wanted an inexpensive large-screen TV for our family room, and this fits the bill perfectly. I don't need (or want) "smart" features in the TV; I already have a Roku and a Tivo OTA. 99% of the content we watch maxes out at 1080 anyway, so 4K isn't really a factor. Setup was simple; it only took me about 20 minutes to get it to work exactly how I want with our existing equipment. The built-in speakers are just OK, but they're on par with other TVs in this price range. I feel like we got a good value for what we paid, and I'd buy it again.

I am a Youth Director, and we needed to replace a TV in our Youth Suite. I was able to find a deal online for this TV at $250, so I promptly bought it, and I've been impressed both by the picture quality (which isn't perfect but is great for our needs) as well as the sound quality. I had read online reviews saying this needs a sound bar, which I can see now depending on the circumstance, but it wasn't 100% necessary for ours. I think it's a great TV for the price, and I'm glad to have found a deal on it!

I was looking to buy a TV for my first home and I couldn't afford to buy a higher end TV. I didn't feel the need for a Smart TV or anything like that. This TV does everything I needed it to do. While 1080p is expiring, I don't have anything that gives 4k output, so I had no need for that. Basically, if you're like me and don't need a super fancy TV, this is the one for you. It also fixed one of the problems of my previous HD TV. It has 3 HDMI ports! Highly recommend.

    Solid TV for Fair Price

I got mine on sale for $299 & couldn't be happier. Same quality & features as many mid-range-priced 1080p LED's, and unless comparing with a higher end elite model (that you could buy a shiny 4K for instead), you won't notice much, if any, difference worth mentioning. I expected to pay around $5-600 for a 55" replacement for my older 55" (which was a replacement for my beloved 65" that Sandy drowned) that crapped out on me, but am happily surprised with how satisfied I've been since purchasing this little beauty.

It is exactly what I wanted. I have a roku streaming stick so I didn't want a smart tv. The picture is as good as the 49" LG I was using that was a smart tv. I now own 2 Insignia brand tv's. this one and a 32" in the bedroom. I do believe this is a good brand/tv. A friend helped me get it out of the box and comented on how good and impressed with the picture he was. The main thing I wanted was a 1080P picture and the 3 HDMI ports. On the smart LG tv I had, I used an HDMI switch. Now I do not need it.

Great TV no problems at all so far. Only problem I had was best buy. I went to the store to get it, brought it home, and realized they gave me the 50 inch instead of the 55 inch. It was the same price so I didn't even notice while checking out. The sales person wasn't very people friendly, he just wanted to upsell me a better tv. I think he was mad I didn't buy a more expensive one so he gave me the 50 inch. Anyway, took it back the same day and got the bigger one with no problem. Just wish I didn't have to drive all the way back there.

My daughter needed a larger TV for her exercise room, and I went shopping at Best Buy looking for a good price on a 'name brand' set, as I have typically not been impressed with the 'budget' names. But when I saw the picture on this one, I was amazed. I could absolutely not pass up the deal. I put it up on the wall the next day, hooked up her Roku, and it looked every bit as good as the one in the store. The sound was pretty fair too, for internal speakers on a thin flat screen.

The Insignia TV has just what we need and nothing we do not need. Great basic TV for those who only use a set-top box. Not the best sound, but it is certainly adequate and one can add a sound bar if that is your desire. For those who do not need or want smart TV capabilities but just want to watch TV, this set at its low price is perfect. Picture is bright and clear and it is easy to setup and navigate the controls.

Note that this is a good full HD (1080p)...nothing fancy, no 4K, no Smart TV, just a good basic full HD TV. The price was just too good to pass up. Didn't really need a new TV, but I wasn't crazy about my old one. For this price I will get rid of the old one. I have good luck with Insignia brand, and have various size Insignia TVs all over the house.

This is my second insignia TV. Can't beat the price and we wanted a basic "dumb" TV. Sound is great. Picture is amazing. Of course, some adjustment is needed to get the tones you want. It meets our needs. Easy set up. Ours sits on the feet, our cable box & DVD player easily slide right under the TV. Nice large buttons on remote too.

We needed to replace the old, failing 51" dinosaur-of-a-TV we had, so we were looking for something of a similar size. I found this 55" Insignia for an incredible price online at Best Buy. The picture is great, better than we were even hoping for. I'm still kinda surprised we found a TV this large for such a great price! We are very satisfied with our purchase.

We had a great experience buying this tv on the spot and had help getting it in our car! We love the colors and for the size it was an amazing price! We also even got money back through an Ibotta rebate app so this could not have been beat anywhere else pricewise. This is our first Insignia TV (have had Sonys) and we are not disappointed.

My son bought this for me for my birthday. For the price it is a great TV. In TV speakers are great, but I shut them off to allow my receiver speakers to work. Inputs and outputs on the back work great for my system, allowed me to bring older model VCR/DVD player in to be viewed on TV. Didn't want on need the stuff on newer model TVs.
