Good vacuum cleaner - shaky technology

If you want the best of these robots, consider the I-7 Roomba. No doubt about it. The performance of this vacuum is phenomenal, But only when there is no software issue. Unfortunately, the technology behind the I-7 (same in the S-9) needs to sharpen a little more and I say that not because there is something better (it is not) but in practical terms, considering the day to day, you will get annoyed at being assessed so much money for something that will take you so much time to adjust or fix. If the “solution” is “factory reset”, it is even worst, because your robot will have to map tour house again and start all the processes like a brand new (but old) robot again. In the good side of the bad news, customer service has been great to me, fast, helpful, on-point. My recommendation is to add the protection plan for as long as you can pay (it will be almost 40% of the sales price For 4 years) but I guarantee you, it will be used before it expires and you will be happy to get a new of these robots for less money than the sales price. Be aware that even when this is a great help in your house, perhaps the best you can get, it will cost you 2-3 times what other good choices will, and still you will have to deal with some problems (a lot and very often if I based that on my experience.) Nonetheless, the I—7 Roomba will bring you the joy of an immaculate house, if you accept a few technological hiccups and the fact that it it looks weird in a living room.

I finally decided to try out a Robot Vacuum when this went on sale. I really like the convenience of having the dust bin instead of emptying the vacuum each sweep. It mapped out the house on the first day and now gets the job done in a few hours (big house).

We have owned the Roomba i7 with the automatic dirt disposal for a month now and have really liked it. It takes a few runs to create your floor map (4-5). We have ~2100 square feet on our main floor and it took >10 hours to complete the first mapping. Each successive mapping was quicker, with the final one at ~7 hours. I would strongly encourage using the “training” option...the Roomba doesn’t clean the house, but will map it in half the time. At first you’ll think the Roomba isn’t very smart as it takes bizarre paths through the rooms, but it has built-in intelligence and gets smarter each successive time. Once you have your rooms established, It’s great to have the Roomba clean a room at a time. For high-traffic and messy areas like the foyer and kitchen, we set the Roomba to clean twice a week and all other areas for once. It has cleaned very well with the only real issue being some small puffs of dog hair in our family room throw rug (we have a fluffy dog with fur like cotton, so more like lint). We have three small rugs that do not have an adherence material on the bottom...those have to be picked up or they bunch up and the Roomba gets stuck on them, otherwise no issues with cleaning. I’ve researched these very carefully (seriously, several hours reading reviews and comparisons), so hopefully you don’t have to...this seems to be the 2nd best robot vacuum you can buy (Roomba makes a new series that’s better, but it’s $300-400 more). I promise you’ll be happy with this Roomba...my one caveat is that we just have the one pet and it doesn’t shed much (but, most reviews claim it’s great for pet hair).

I would rate this 4.5/5. It does everything it says it will. And our dog doesn't even mind it!! The only criticism I have is that if you put this on a schedule, make sure someone is around to pick things up off the floor. If there is paper of any kind, it will tear it to shreds. Otherwise, great product!!

LOVE it! We have two dogs in Florida bringing in lots of sand and this Roomba does a great job keeping up with them. It does a pretty good job even up to the edges and manages the throw rugs pretty well. Liked it so much I bought one for my parents. Haven't figured out the voice assist yet but hope to when I get back.

Was really surprised on how well this little guy cleans the floor. I think it’s an absolutely amazing product. Only concern is how long it will last. Seems like anything can break, or go out a that’s the only thing that worries me. Other then that it’s absolutely amazing!

This thing has literally improved our lives so much that we consider it part of our family! We live in a rural setting with three dogs (high shedding Labradors) and two cats and have been in a constant battle with pet hair and tracked-in dirt on our floors for years. I have been reluctant to buy a robotic vacuum because I didn't think they would do a thorough enough job. I thought I would still need to sweep up after it, plus constantly empty it as it worked. When I noticed the new self-emptying units, I decided to learn more. After quite a bit of research, I decided on the Roomba i7. Costly, but the only unit that had consistent recommendations for pet owners. Enter "Robbie". After an easy set up, Robbie got to work immediately and didn't stop until every accessible square inch of my main floor was covered. "She" got stuck in a couple areas, but quickly learned to avoid those areas in the future. It took a couple days to map our rooms, but she learns quickly, adjusting when furniture is moved or a door is left closed etc. When full, she returns to her base to empty and then returns to the same area. Now, we have her set for 6 am daily and wake up to beautifully clear floors. Even with our pets and dried spring-time dirt tracked in, the bag lasts about a month with daily use. I am considering buying a second unit for our lower level. Both my husband and I agree this is one of the best purchases ever!

My husband and I had a Shark robot that unfortunately broke but was still under warranty. We tried to exchange, but they no longer made that model so we got store credit. Was weary to order this roomba because of the reviews of hair clumping, being left on the rug etc. we ordered anyway because we needed another robot vacuum as we have 2 cats and a dog. We just received today and had it run for 10 minutes and will be returning. We just deep vacuumed our house on Monday and we let the roomba “map” the house and there were clumps of hair everywhere that were not being picked up. Very disappointed and not sure how this robot is $900 full price.

As owners of two Australian shepherds, one of whom can generate a fully bunny's worth of loose fur per day, we were desperate when we bought our first robot vacuum - a Neato BotVac Connected. It worked reasonably well, though it needed to be sent back for repairs a couple of times and it died at just over a year. So now we're trying the Roomba i7+ and, so far, it's working great (though, for that much money, I guess it should). We LOVE that it empties itself (which works exceptionally well!!!), and it's much better at negotiating speaker wires and carpet tassels. It still gets dog fur wrapped around its beaters (we clean them out every couple of days) and it leaves some fur balls behind that we have to pick up manually. Still, we're feeling pretty positive about it after a few weeks. We'll see after a full year, though -- THIS time we purchased an additional 4 years of extended warranty! I strongly recommend you do the same.

Really cool toy. My fellow gen Z would enjoy a roomba. Feel like a cyberpunk mechanic whenever i do some maintenance on it. The app works well though you do have to wait while to robot finishes its task to do something else which can be annoying. Bought this for my heavy-shedding German shepherd and works perfect for fur. There was a time where it would stop working and it woukd blink red signifying low battery. This was confusing as it should have returned to its charger on its own. It also stopped working due to its bin being full which again i should not have had to step in to manually resolve when i bought it so that i would not have to deal with it. I eventually theorized that since the litter box was moved closer to the docking station it messed up communication with it and my robot. Moral of the story is that it normally does what its designed to do flawlessly but dont be too alarmed if it doesnt. I moved the litter box and it went back to normal. Note: Sister spilled corn starch so i tried the robot but it did not do much and only spread it around so maybe dont use it on fine particles. It works somewhat well with google but it does not perform well when i ask it to clean a certain zone which was a sad disappointment.

We’ve been Neato owners for several years but the last one died after only a year and we learned iRobot bought them so we looked at this. I love the tower! With multiple pets we had to clean the bin 1-2 times per day. The tower is completely hands free. The sucking power seems stronger, just seems to clean better. The size seems to be better, it doesn’t get stuck under the bed, hardly ever gets stuck anywhere at all. The directions said it takes a while to get your floorplan down and that is very true. I probably would have returned it after two days if that wasn’t stated. But little Fog Horn has it down now. Only two negatives to this product. One, the battery doesn’t last long. It has to go back and charge then go again. Making daily vacuuming take at minimum three hours to finish six rooms. I’m getting used to that, not a deal breaker. Two which really sucks is that it’s lacking the lidar technology that makes Neato so efficient. I’m hoping the merge will marry this tech into future iRobots because everything else is great.

This is my first auto vacuum of any kind. I extensively researched many makes and models and decided on the iRobot i7+. I wanted a vacuum that would map its surroundings so I could skip certain rooms. Most reviewers stated that it had a tough job getting carpet clean. Mine works fine. I have a cat and I’m meticulous about cat hair and dust bunnies. The i7 does a good job of getting the floor clean. It mapped my house after about 5 or 6 runs. The application is very easy to configure and to my total surprise, everything works. It even knows where the carpet and rugs are. The first run through my bedroom, it took quite awhile. Now 5 minutes tops and it gets under the bed. This alone blew my mind. I haven’t moved any cords or bead spreads. It seems to know and it maneuvers around. It’s never gotten stuck and it’s always found it’s base. It’s connected to an Echo. Today I spilled cracker crumbs all over the kitchen floor. I went to get a broom and said, wait a minute. “Computer, have Jake vacuum the kitchen!” And out he came, cleaned up the crumbs while I ate my salad. Nuff Said. Get an Echo and the i7+ and enjoy NOT cleaning your floor. Thank You iRobot.
