I am about 1 week post purchase and I have to say this is one of the best products I have ever purchased. Yes, it is expensive, and worth every dollar. I have a 90 lb Labrador retriever who sheds a great deal. I have owned a Deebot N79 for a few years and always had to babysit the device as it would continually get stuck, or the bin would require emptying. The I7+ has yet to get stuck, and when the bin is full it runs back to the docking station where it is automatically emptied, and off again to complete the job. This is a must-have feature in my view. After the first 4 trips around my 1800SF home, it creates dividers based on its memory and you name each room on the map. This morning I instructed the Roomba to clean only the kitchen, very impressively it was done in less than 15 minutes. I also programmed it to automatically clean the entire house M,W,F at 9AM while my dog and I are not home. Don't waste your money on any robot vacuum that does not automatically empty its bin. Pay up for this product and you will never regret it.

Great for picking up the daily grime farm life brings in on my vinyl plank flooring. I can go barefoot all the now. My only complaint is shedded long human hair tangles up on the side brush hub. The minimal maintainance is worth it.

I bought this for my daughter's new house. She says it cleans well but is taking a little time to map the areas to be cleaned. Also ran into a cat's hairball and dragged it around for a while making a mess. It is also a little loud during its cleaning route so I wouldn't run it in the middle of the night.

I am pleased at how well the iRobot works. Although the price tag is steep having the automatic dust bin is worth it. The app is nice, and I love coming home to clean floors. It does sound like a plane taking off when emptying itself but otherwise is quiet while vacuuming.

Love love love this roomba! I did a lot of research before choosing this one, decided to try it when it went on sale. it runs very well from tile to area rugs and around the house. I was a bit leary about buying one, but this certainly made me a fan.

Ive really enjoyed my Roomba Vacuum. It has mapped most of the house amd the app is easy to use. I do wish the battery would last just a little longer and that it wasn't so loud. I am overall please with how helpful this device has been.

Former 585 owner, looking for a perfect upgrade

We have been using our Roomba 585 for the better part of a decade. Its still running just fine (having replaced a few parts and battery over the years). It does a fine job, but there are several things about it, that after all this time, have become annoying. This will apply to all the Roombas that don't hold an internal map. This particular model, the i7+ fixed them all. 1) Lesser models requires you to be home to run it. With no smart mapping, you have to set up "electronic walls" to have it clean a space, but not others. All but the most advanced Roombas dont "map", they randomly roam. In very large areas, without the "walls", they run over the same area 4 or 5 times, and some areas barely. 2) Lesser models require you to be home to run it part 2. Without an "app", and the permanent map, you have to start it with a button. The i7+ learns a map of the entire house (this will require initial set-up). Once its done learning, you can set up schedules of which rooms to clean, and when. We have a dog, and close the doors to the bedrooms while we are out - its simple to have the i7 clean the common rooms (which have the dog fur) during the day, finishing just before we come home. Then, on Saturday (house cleaning day for us), we open the doors, and have the i7 clean the bedrooms (all programed, no interaction from us at all, other then opening the doors by 10:00am (the time I have programed). 3) Lesser models require you to be home to run it part 3. The bin has to be emptied when full. Depending on the size of the bin, and the amount of "dirt" (dog fur in our case), the bin will have to be emptied a lot. Our 585, specifically made for dog fur, has a very large bin - but weekly cleaning fills it. A few daily runs can be completed in between empties. The i7+ empties itself after every run, or in the middle of a run (in the case of a huge run - like all 2700 sq ft of our living space). 4) Lesser models require you to be home to run it part 4. We upgraded the battery pack of the 585 - its about as much battery as you can get. But, its not enough battery to clean the entire house. These less intelligent models will "dock" when the battery runs low. The problem is, it doesnt have a map, or remember where it was or what it was doing once docked. That means, you have to use the walls to confine its space, so YOU know where it quit, and what it hasn't cleaned. The i7+ appears to have a much smaller battery - it doesnt run as long as the extended battery in the 585 - but it doesnt matter. When the i7+ needs to charge, it just goes home and charges. When its done charging, it knows exactly what it has cleaned, and what it hasn't, and just automatically goes back, and finishes the job. 5) Problem spots - The 585 had a few issues with getting stuck or catching wires. We typically had to use the "walls" to keep it out of spots (constantly moving them from room to room) to keep it out of trouble, or just picking it up, movinging it, and resetting it when it got stuck. Our trouble spots where: the slider track for the glass sliding doors, the gap under the entertainment center was too large for the bumpers, but too narrow for the top (it would wedge unter it until stuck), the electrical cords around an end table (light cord, cordless phone station, electric recliner cord, and cell phone chargers), and running over dog waste when he had an accident. The i7+ fixed all of that. The slider track and wires were still a problem for the i7+. But the smart map allowed us to set up very small "stay out" zones. I simply added a few inches of "stay out" at those spots, and its run flawlessly, coming right to the edge of them. It fits under the entertainment center - its more advanced eyes, and better fitting bumper keep it from trying to go all the way under, it just cleans about 4-6 inches under, and treats it more like a wall with a recess. That works perfectly. The dog always uses the same spot when he has an accident - so we set up that space as its own "room" on the smaart map (you could set up several if needed). I left that "room" off the schedule, and, using the app, have it clean that space on Saturday, after I have checked it. 6) Noise - The 585 (and all the previous generations) are loud. I mean, cant watch a football game with them running loud. The i7 is much quieter - but not silent. You will not want this running in the same room you are in if you need to use your ears. But, unlike the 585, you CAN have it cleaning other rooms, and hear just fine. 7) Electronic walls - We have 4 "walls" for the 585, and could really use several more. The i7+ only comes with one. And we haven't even put the batteries in it. I guess you could use them, if you didn't use the app and create a smart map. But if you do use the smart map - you wont need any "walls" at all. Bottom line: The less sophisticated versions require you to manage them constantly. While they clean just fine, they require you to "run them" while you are home. This means you come home to a dirty house, and have to deal with them and their nose every day (or however often you clean). Certainly an upgrade from manually cleaning with a vacuum cleaner, more on par with directing your kid to run the vacuum, and managing that. The i7+ is a whole new level. Now, we come home to a clean house. No noise, no managing - it just happens in our absence. The bags that the bin empties into holds about 30 bins - and once its full, its a good time to clean the brushes on the i7+ - for us that's about once a month (we run it daily). A daily chore just disappeared. That's the difference.

After using this vacuum at least twice a week for 7-1/2 months I can give my thoughts on it. I have no complaints about this vacuum and it's ability to clean our floors even with our new dog and his hair. I have only had 1 occasion where it lost connection and 1 time that it got "lost" behind a piece of furniture during use. We live in a split level house with 3 levels and I have been able to program the app for use on each of the levels. It does a good job picking up hair, dust, and anything else that has been dropped on the floor. I like this vacuum so much that I just bought another iRobot vacuum for another level in our home.

I have waited to review this Roomba, because I wanted to make sure I had a long enough time to review it fairly. I love this little bot. While it was double the price of the Dyson vacuums I have had over the years, it was worth every dollar. Other than cleaning the contact points and changing the disposal bag once (after 5 weeks of daily running), I haven't had to do anything to this device. We have a single story house, which it cleans without a problem. I really like the fact that it will go home and empty itself, then go back to where it left off. It also heads home if it needs to charge before finishing the job. I have had it clean and map all but one small bathroom. When I run the schedule telling it to clean all rooms, it does have to take a break to recharge. When I limit the area to our most trafficked rooms, it does it with a single charge. Yes, it is a bit noisy on our hard floors, but then, so is my Dyson and every other vacuum I have ever owned. The noise doesn't bother me...it means one less thing I have to do. We have 3 dogs, who are in and out all day, so the floors never stayed clean and I was always frustrated. That is no longer the case. The app is fantastic and easy to use. This puts my "other" brand robot vacuum to shame. I love it! I love it! I love it!

This guy replaced our Neato, which had died. This little dude is fantastic! We had to manually dump the reservoir in our old one. This one after over a month we have yet to replace the bag! All this with a house full of fur (we have a German Shepherd).

Bought this to get the rooms that our other roomba cannot get due to permanent baby gates, loved our original and this one is miles and miles better! Very quiet operation, easy setup, empties itself out so I can spend more time with my baby instead of doing chores!

Works impressively well.... except when it runs over a poo pile on the carpet and drags it all over the floor. If you dont have pets or tiny humans that leave unwanted/potentially gross wetish puddles then this is 100% the greatest invention ever.

It develops a pattern and follows it while adjusting for new or relocated items each time. Seems very thorough and not hindered by minor thresholds or carpet/hardwood flooring changes. Automatically recognizes new areas when relocated due to steps.

The iRobot i7 is such a great robot vacuum, I went and purchased a second one for our upstairs after we bought this one. We have hardwood flooring and low area rugs in both floors of our home, and the i7 does a great job of cleaning both, and the transition between hard flooring and throw rug is flawless. one of the best features of this vacuum is that it empties itself after every job, unlike most other robot vacs. This feature is worth the extra money. -trust me. I had previously purchased a Samsung R 7065 (huge expensive mistake), and they both stopped working within 90 days, so they went to the electronics recycle bin in favor of the Roomba. The iRobot i7 is a solid, durable machine that does a fantastic job of getting into the corners and under furniture in our home, and the in case it ever gets hung up on something (very rare), the app notifies you that the vac is stuck, and where it is located in you house. Keep in mind that all of these robot vacuums are evolving technology and none are perfect yet, but the Roomba I7 gets pretty close...
