    2/3 cool+1/3 trash=can't compete with other games

this game is best reviewed in parts, the first and middle third are good, but the final third, which takes place in Cuba, ruins all the good and exacerbates the worst parts of the game. The score goes as follows, 1 of 3=4 stars 2 of 3=4 stars 3 of 3=1 star so the average is 3 stars First I'll talk about the good which is the first two thirds of the game. The environments are destructible on an aesthetic level only, but it's still very cool. Your friends hide well and even kill people on their own, which is good too. Tear gas produces a wonderful effect of blurring the screen, very interesting and makes the gas worth noting. The voice acting is great and helps the story, which is a mixed bag, it is interesting but a little silly at times. On the downside there are some clarity issues wherein you must follow rules that nobody explains to you, one example is breaking into a bank where you must punch one guard and shoot his friend, if you try to punch both then the second will get away but if you shoot them both the second will hear the gunshot and get away, in the end the mission ends if you break the unwritten rule. The other universal downside is the aiming; the most accurate gun is the sniper rifle, the next most accurate is the pistol, everything else is mostly point and pray. That also ties into the camera issues, since it is a third-person shooter, you do not see through your character's eyes the problem is that the camera can cause some confusion resulting in your recital being on the enemy and the bullet ending up in the box you are hiding behind or somewhere nowhere near your enemy, but the best is when your friend behind you blocks the camera and you can't see where you're shooting. The final third is horrible, once your character goes to Cuba, just turn the game off; it'll be shorter, but much better. The destructible environments I loved are replaced by undying rocks and trees which your friends insist on hiding NEXT to, not behind and you have to help them. This also messes with the camera, since there are so many leaves around you it's common to not see where you are shooting because there is a leaf behind you. There is a common technique used to make computer-controlled characters more powerful which gives them infinite ammunition, this is used in many games and isn't a problem when used properly, but here the enemies get use of special weapons like RPGs, sniper rifles, and grade launchers which makes them very dangerous since they have all the ammunition they want, your friends won't use such weapons, which I call cheating. This isn't much of a problem since the AI won't stop the over-armed enemies from shooting the wall they're next to a blowing themselves up; another example of this is the tank of unlimited ammunition which will always shoot in your direction and your friends won't help you fight it, but you have to help them if they get caught in the cross-fire. The worst problem with the last third is the strictness of the objectives, many times you will need to shoot one person in a limited amount of time, under a minute, which won't give you time to tell your friends to help or even provide cover-fire; there is also a situation where you must shoot a land mine, without being noticed by the people talking to you...if you walk to a restricted area, you get shot; if you use your gunsights too soon, you get shot, if you wait to long, you get shoot. Skip this part of the game, or the entire game itself, this last part is too frustrating and finicky to be useful, if you don't mind a short game, play the first two-thirds, or skip this all together.

    Just Missed With This One

Kane and Lynch is a game that could really be an awesome game. I personally like first person shooters myself, and this game being a third person shooter, I will admit that the controls took a little bit of time to get used to. The part of the game that I really feel missed though is the storyline. They have created two really great characters with Kane and Lynch, and I feel they didn't capitalize on creating an engulfing storyline to go with them as much as they could. I've heard rumors because of the sales of this game that they will release a sequel, and I can only hope that the storyline is done better. Other than that the game is very violent and contains an outrageous amount of cursing. I would advise that if you have children you not let them in the room while you play this game. The missions are really fun though, and you will be surprised by the difficulty of the game, even on the easiest setting. Overall I think this game needs work, but I would recommend it for it's missions and it's originality or characters, even if underdeveloped.

Okay I gotta say I when I first put this game in, I started playing by myself on easy, and it was okay, Controls were a little more complicated to get at first, but after the first level, you should be on your way. < < As soon as my buddy came over and we went into the co-op mode, this game really took life. Between each parter controlling the destiny of the mission and having to each succeed and help one another out in order to win. < < It was actually challenging even on the easy "asprin" mode, Trying to figure out the stratigies with a real live gamer next to you, makes the game intertesting. Graphics are cool, gameplay is awesome, There are even parts where one of the characters gets "headaches" during the mission and it affects your ability to use him during combat. The screen starts to blur making it really hard to execute anything. < < I beat it with my buddy in a day or 2 on easy, and we weren't sure if we wanted to do it again on hard. However do not let the shortness of the game on easy detur you from buying this game. If you find that its too easy for you at first (trust me its not) you can always turn the difficutly up. < < P.S. I'm not sure if there are multiple endings, but the one that I got was not expected, but a really cool way to end it. < < Bottom line, if you like first person shooters, and have a friend who wants to play with you at the same time, BUY THIS GAME!

    Great, but flawed.

'Kane and Lynch: Dead Men' had a lot of hype that preceeded its release, and for the most part, it fizzled upon release. The game acts as a spiritual successor to 'Freedom Fighters,' and while your squads aren't quite as initially as large as those found in that game, they're more effective at following your orders than the nameless grunts you previously recruited. The presentation of the game - from the moment it's turned on to the end of the final level - is nearly flawless, and evokes comparisons to the best Michael Mann action flicks. I pushed through the game as quickly as I could, riveted by the actions of the titular characters. The problems with the gameplay itself are noticeable, but not game breaking. The cover system could've taken a hint from other games (like 'Army of Two' for example) and required a button to initiate, rather than just positioning yourself next to it. And while it's very well presented, graphically, it looks simple - as if it were an upscaled PS2 game. This doesn't detract from the game, but it isn't able to compete with other games on the system, like 'Uncharted' or 'Ratchet and Clank,' or more combat oriented games like 'Call of Duty 4.' It's fun, and it's worth playing, but it is relatively short. The multiplayer mode is unique and worth playing the game for by itself. Overall, an enjoyable and rewarding experience, if imperfect.

    Very Good Game

I thought this was a really good game. I see some people say the storyline could be better but it seemed o.k. to me. The storyline kept me wanting to know more and interested. I'm used to playing first person shooters also as many others are and I too had to adjust to playing third person. I would think that you would have to expect the game to be third person since it was made by the same developers who made the Hitman. If they were to make a sequel I would expect it to be a third person shooter also since all the Hitman games were. I still prefer first person though. I also thought the characters were interesting. Kane is the serious all about buisness brains of the two men whereas Lynch is psychotic and takes medicine to prevent his psychotic states. There are some funny moments when Lynch looses his sense of reality and commits hanis acts with Kane not knowing. These moments have a sense of dark humor but its funny. This is not a game for saints in that there is a lot of profanity and violence. I would definitely not by this game for anyone under age. I recommend this game to any adult who likes shooters.

A Pretty Good Game (language/violence aside)

You are a convict or 2 convicts if playing co-op that are breaking out from being transported by vehicle and you have help on the outside to get away. You must fight off hundreds of cops as you find your way to freedom. But you're not really ever free because an organization called The 7 wants you and your family dead and wants you to work for them to stay alive. You fight your way through fighting off barrages of these bad guys and cops on foot and by vehicle in many different ways and in many different places as you free other inmates to get help to kill off this organization that wants you and your family dead. The foul language is some of the worst I've ever heard and the controls are difficult, especially the cover controls. I give this game a difficulty of 9/10 very difficult. Controls I give a 4/10 they're difficult to master if possible at all. Gameplay I give a 8/10. Storyline I give a 10/10. This is where it gains its merit with many good locals for fighting.

    Hardes Game

Kane & Lynch is by far the hardest game that I played on PS3 so far. Shooting is hard and not always on target but makes the game more challanging. I especially like the club seen and a few other sceens where there is many characters running around and that makes it look awesome.

It had a good story line and the co-op play was nice. However, the multiplayer part was weak. Very limited and hardly anyone was playing.

first off the last review is wrong there is a massive online coop, its just very unstable and full of program errors. the story is built to excel, graphics are late ps2 at best movement is twitchy sticky walls are absurdly placed. the arsenal is well developed but thats about it, the company rushed this title to beat Army of Two to the xmas crowd at the cost a good title and it may very well hurt Eidos. even the coop mode (the main concept of the game) was poorly developed and i think they may have run out of ideas as well on 1 player the ai is worse than the early tomb raider games... Eidos i think you should cut your losses and start from scratch, next time throw the grenade not the pin.

    Avoid this junk

I got this game because it was made by the same developer that made Hitman so it had to be good right? After playing through most of it w/my buddy, all I can say is there is nothing good about this game...I would recommend avoiding it at all costs. I can't see how these people could be giving this game a 4-5 star rating...buyer beware.
