This laptop has everything needed for gamers. Great speed and a very cool keyboard which can be changed (color). The screen definition is in my opinion the best for gamers.

I first considered this brand after my last laptop died from heat damaging either the CPU, GPU, or mobo. My lady has an MSI laptop and the turbo fan mode is a must have. Keeps the CPU and GPU around 60-65 degrees Celsius under load which isn't bad. The software to help track temperatures is a godsend. The Steelseries keyboard is gorgeous and is solid. Boots lightning fast to the point where I laughed first boot. Only problem I have with it is that you can get better performance out of a 10 series Video Card from Nvidea. If you see one of these with a 1060 or 1070 that's same price or less, go for that.

Overall, it's been a very stable and solid computer and I am very happy with its power per dollar, and would recommend this model or any of the ones MSI has produced similar to it. I use it to play games daily, render and animate, and do a fair amount of video editing. Pros: • Has a 128 SSD that the operating system is loaded on, so Windows will boot very quickly (out of the box, with all bloat startup it was <9 seconds). I also have Fedora on the same SSD now and it loads in about 3. • Has an attractive looking keyboard and back chassis. • The integrated intel "card" is actually extremely powerful. There are quite a few games with maxed graphics that won't trigger the switch to the Nvidia 970. • Is ready to go after maybe an hour out of the box. Not a lot of tweaking needed for most people. • 2 year warranty through MSI, and extends another 3 months if you register your device with them. Cons: • Upon startup, drivers were almost all out of date, as well as a BIOS update. • The preloaded nVidia launcher did not work at all. I ended up uninstalling it completely and just check the website periodically. • It's secondary fan is so loud that it's comical. I basically only use it as a joke around friends who haven't seen this computer yet. • The sound quality isn't the greatest through the included speakers. • It only has 3 standard USB ports. It does have a thunderbolt port and a USB-C port however and adaptors can be used if you don't want to buy a splitter. • Comes with a lot of bloat, including Norton and a lot of MSI exclusives. A few of them are neat, most seem to exist just to be there.

The laptop performs flawlessly. Boots up instantaneously and has run every game without any issues. The screen feels kind of weak and the ssd space will run out really fast. Other than that I haven't had any problems whatsoever.

    Great gaming/work laptop

Use of laptop: 90% work/10% gaming. Not a hardcore gamer nor do I play big title games out at time of review (neverwinter, overwatch, etc). Mainly play A.V.A., CSGO, and League of Legends. I purchased this laptop to do work without it throttling easily especially during times such as summer when it gets hot. I cannot vouch for demanding engineer softwares and such from reviews by others. Pros: 1. Cooler boost 3. Lets me turn on laptop to cool off while working long hours so laptop does not throttle. This was issue in my past laptop (it gets hot during summer and where I live). Also, I can run multiple programs w/o needing to turn on cooler boost 3 which is REAL NICE! 2. Great venting compared to laptops within this price range. See video reviews on youtube. Really goes in more details there. 3. Loads up super fast (5 secs approx boot up time) due to help from SSD drive. 4. Has 1 SSD and HDD drive. 5. RGB lighting. Great bonus feature. 6. Has DVD/RW drive for those who still have cds/dvds (games, movies, etc). Cons: 1. Decent amount of bloatware to be uninstalled like most other computer/laptop purchases. 2. Wish drivers were updated prior to purchase. Spent about 5 hours (like other reviews said) to update/install all latest drivers, etc. (as had to familiarize self with all the lingo, etc). 3. Speakers - they sound average or subpar? It wasn't a dealbreaker for me as this laptop compensates heavily in other areas that are practical for the consumer. Better parts/construction > speakers which can be replaced with a USB connected speaker. (I use $20 USB speakers I bought from my laptop and solved issue. Highly recommend buying external connected speakers for gaming and all audio involved activities.) 4. Left region (left of mouse pad) gets hot when gaming so I turn on cooler boost 3 to reduce it. (It isn't instant burn hot but definitely can feel the heat in that section. Despite this con, I felt this laptop has better heat control overall compared to most other gaming laptops in this price range). 5. Battery life. Does not last very long but you can adjust settings to optimize battery to fullest if you need to do work and don't have an outlet. Refer to youtube video reviews and other bestbuy reviews for better accuracy. Battery is not removable unless you tamper with device I think and I did not do this. It also stops charging when battery is full.

    Good, But has some flaws

I bought this for my daughter for college. It's a bit over powered for a word processor but I didn't want it outdated in 2 years. The speed is good and so are the graphics. Really enjoy having both the solid state and normal hard drives. When its working its great. But there was once where it just froze up for the evening. No matter how many times we rebooted it would freeze during the boot process. We were going to take it to Best Buy in the morning but then it started working again. Then the other night the fan started making a weird noise. Again, all was back to normal the next morning. Other than those 2 times its worked great. I have a feeling that I'm going to be glad I got the 3 year Geek Squad coverage.

This is absolutely the most fantastic laptop I have ever purchased. The speed, the clarity of the screen, the backlit keyboard. The price of this laptop was the most amazing part of all. I had no idea about this brand of laptop until after visiting the store and the salesperson being so willing to help me understand all the information about this computer. This computer is so high tech, but yet so simple to use. All the questions that you may have, the answers are at your fingertips. The keyboard is so easy to type on. Just the way the keys are sitting, you don't double strike or hit two keys at once. The number keyboard on the side is a def. plus. I love this computer and by all means would recommend it for anyone.

I really like this laptop for gaming. It is fast and has a lot of great features. The only thing that I find that could be better is that it needs a larger ssd but that can be upgraded and the fans are loud when putting it under a load. Don't bother me to much because I play with a head set anyway and can hardly hear it with my headset on. I play games like ark and rust. I think this is a great bang for ur buck pc if you into some gaming. Keyboard could get a little warm but I turn on the fan boost and it cools it down. I would recommend this computer to anyone who needs something portable yet wanting to still do some gaming.

This is my first gaming laptop and it really performs beyond my expectations. I haven't seen any lagging in games so far. Same for my engineering software; everything runs without a hitch. The only issues I have with it are the pretty big amounts of bloatware it comes with (but that's really the case with most computers nowadays) and the short battery life (shorter than some other gaming laptop brands), but those were things I was pretty much expecting. Overall, a really powerful machine.

I have been searching the internet for months, trying to figure out which laptop would be the best for me. Even though the thin, super sleek laptops look great, I wanted something that could handle games. I finally decided to try Best Buy, just to see some of the machines in person. I had read good things about MSI, and I really liked the looks, specs, and price. So far, I have been extremely happy with this purchase. Like all store bought computers, it is important to get the drivers updated ASAP, especially the graphics driver. The Geforce Experience would not download the latest drivers at first, but the fix for this is to completely uninstall then reinstall the Geforce Experience program. Once I did that, everything worked fine. Pros: - This thing is fast. It plays World of Warcraft perfectly, which is what I wanted. - Beautiful screen. - Multicolored keyboard is cool. It doesn't make it machine faster, but it's neat. - Cooler Booster. This thing can get HOT!, and a one button toggle for maximum cooling is great. With cooler booster on, the temps drop very quickly. Cons: - This thing can get HOT! Not really an issue, IMO, since this is a gaming laptop, and the cooler booster will drop the temps without issue. - Cooler booster is loud. It works great, but it is loud. In conclusion, this is a very good laptop.

I enjoy the speed of the computer. The light up key board makes it easy to use in low light and being able to play games. I able to use this product for work and play and at this point have not had any issues with the product. It is very fast!

First off let me start by saying this is the most powerful, quick Laptop/PC I've ever owned. The specs were very good at the time of purchase (pre Nvidia 1080 Graphics Cards) and the Steelseries Keyboard is very nice. The laptop has a matte black color and the design is very pleasing to the eye. However, the price for which I paid $1400 was a bit high in hindsight, but nonetheless the laptop is extremely reliable and can get the job done for just about anything. It's ability to output 4K resolution is extremely nice, I use it often for movies and images. Don't expect to run a game at a stable framerate at 4K resolution off this baby though. As a college student, this laptop is extremely reliable, albeit the battery is a tad short if you do not constantly toggle on the office/battery saving options available.

I brought this computer i needed a computer that can do everything which include gaming, building robotics, music production for classes, school projects and homework, and etc. What i love about the computer is looks, keyboard looks awesome, graphic card which includes 970m which makes gaming run smoothly, and sound system which sound better than i got with mac. I would say this computer is really well worth and i will recommend to anyone

I bought this computer because I wanted to have the flexibility to do numerous things like doing homework, creating training material, and maybe doing some gaming. I have had it for about a month and I haven't had any issues with it. It is very fast and has a great keyboard. I wish it had a bigger solid state drive, but I knew that going into the purchase. My major complaint is the battery life. I get a little over two hours out of it doing basic things like checking e-mails and researching. Would hate to think of what I would do if I wasn't near an outlet to recharge.

Super fast, love the keyboard. With a 6th generation Intel Core i7 - 16GB Memory - 1TB Hard Drive + 128GB Solid State Drive with NVIDAI 970M graphics card for $1400 this machine is an amazing value. Prefer this to a similarly configured Alienware 15. The RGB lighting on the keyboard is fantastic. Only downsides are that the screen is a bit flimsy and you cannot get a larger SSD. Buy this laptop, you'll be glad you did.

Fast hard dive for quick boot ups. Great graphics, lots of ram. Overall a very fast machine the backlit keyboard is great for me since I do a lot at night in the dark. Nice big data drive was a feature I needed since I do quite a bit of game programming with all the room I need for graphic assets. The speaker sound is ok but not the best. It may be feedback from mic so I use head phones which seems to give the best quality. If you need both I would surely use head phones.

I bought this laptop for travel and home use.I chose it because I can game and work on it. I love it. The case is sturdy. It boots lightening fast. The display is beautiful with lots of detail. Games load quickly. I have modest gaming time but it seems to work very well (no lag,etc.). The Steelseries keyboard has great tension. The speakers are a bit tinny. It runs exceptionally cool under normal use. I am very satisfied with the quality of my MSI laptop.

Absolutely great laptop for gaming. The display is phenomenal and the system overall is extremely quick. Runs most games on high-max settings around 60 FPS. After a little bit of overclocking, The Witcher 3 stays around 45 FPS and Rise of the Tomb Raider around 38 (these are both on high settings, not max). The system itself never got above 75 degrees running those games, and everything else stayed in the mid 60s or lower, so heat is no problem at all! I did have to update the BIOS after an update for Windows 10, but that was painless. I also reinstalled audio drivers and haven't had any issues at all. I'm a huge fan of MSi after this purchase and I'd highly recommend their computers to any gamer.

This laptop is well built and fast. I bought it for business use and to game on it when winding down from a busy day. The online reviews were overwhelmingly positive. This Best Buy model has some extra bells and whistles that make it a steal at this price point.
