The Coolpix P610 digital camera is very good for all applications. Although the camera is good for taking pictures in the Macro mode, it especially good for taking pictures in the Telephoto mode. Best news you never have to change lens. It has Wi-Fi capabilities that can be synced with your smartphone or tablet. Not only can you review pictures on your device you can activate the Shutter Button from your smartphone or tablet, a selfie. It is very user friendly and a good training camera if you ever want to purchase a more expensive DSLR.

I bought this camera to have a lighter weight camera with a viewfinder. My "good camera is a Cannon 60 D. It is a nice camera but weighs 3 lbs with lens. This camera weighs 1 lbs. The pictures with this camera are excellent. I get many good comments on e photos I take with this camera. It is the first Nikon and I would definitely considere another Nikon in the future.

So far this camera exceeds all my expectations. I'm just an ordinary photographer, love to take pictures of family, outdoors etc. I could start taking pictures right away after looking at the book and the features. I wasn't impressed with the moveable lcd screen but it's come in so handy already, love it. It's easy to find all the settings, looking forward to using all of them eventually.

We bought this camera primarily to take close up shots of birds without having to use a giant telephoto lens. We have been very impressed with the quality of the images and the power of the 60x zoom ens. Out of curiosity I took a handheld shot of a full moon and was amazed at the detail in the image. It is a great option for someone who wants to take close ups nature shots but does not want the hassle and cost of a giant telephoto lens.

Reasonably prices for what you get, this Nikon has certainly equaled our last Canon of comparable value. Who could ask for anything more?

I was originally looking for a DSLR but this one suits my purposes just as well. I am an advanced amateur photographer anf I love the versatility offerred here. You can full auto, full manual or a combination of the two methods in a camera that is easier to handle than a DSLR. It's comparatively light weight combined with a 60X OPTICAL zoom (as opposed to digital zoom) plus all of the available presets make this camera fun to use You can take great photos on automatic settings and stll experiment with and learn how to use manual control of shutter speed and/or apeture settings...Great bang for the buck and my 4th Nikon.

I wanted a camera that could do pretty much everything (videos and stills) without carrying an assortment of lenses and/or cameras. This camera meets my needs--it is the best digital camera I've had in 15 years of doing digital photography. The 60x zoom is fabulous. The lens takes great, very sharp photos. I love the flip-out, twisting view screen; I love that it has a viewfinder as well and switches quickly and easily between the two. I like having two zoom controls--one for the left hand and one for the right. I like how easy it is to start video recording then go back to still photography. The button to pop up the flash is also in a handy place. I like the shape of the camera-- it sits nicely in my hands.Nikon makes easy to read, easily-accessible menus. This camera is easy to use right out of the box but also has a lot of more advanced features. Color rendition is wonderful in all lighting situations. The only bad things I read about this camera were about its weight (it is larger than most digital cameras--but not too heavy for my arthritic hands) and low-light photos (I find these are better than my old camera, so I have no complaint there). I was able to buy an ultraviolet filter for the lens (protects the lens and cuts glare from photos), which I used to do for my film SLR's. I am very happy with my purchase. My husband has a small Nikon digital camera that has held up nicely over many years. I'm hoping the same for my new Coolpix P610.

Had previous version, dropped prior to a trip and repair in progress. Needed new and SO loved the high quality pics, light weight, ease of use, video, regular, backlighting feature and new WiFii that we bought this camera. Non technical husband and I used on 3 week Europe trip..FANTASTIC people and sites and vista shots, including many with bright windows behind us. Loved the wifii feature and recommend this camera for light weight (have the D70 and lenses and JUST too heavy for travel) superb photos, lots of features, ease of use and wifii plus great price!

I was looking for a light camera to take on trips and hikes. This camera fit the bill and so far is great. The pictures are excellent and the camera is fairly easy to use. I have compared pictures between this camera and my Cannon 60D and they are comparable.

This is a great little camera when I don't want to carry my DSLR. It's lightweight, easy to use and I get amazing photos out of it. I love the option of being able to move the back screen to really make sure I get the shot I want.

I ordered the P900 from Nikon which has been on backorder for months and it never arrived so the day before my vacation I bought the P610. I am already a Coolpix fan and have had several coolpix cameras over the years. This was a replacement for the P510 for me. I saw that it has some new features and I have to say I have been very happy with it overall. The Moon mode is amazing. You can see craters . I also love the manual functionality of this camera. It allows you to have a point and shoot for when you don't have time but it is helping me learn manual functionality a little at a time. I think I would be too overwhelmed with a DSLR. For me this is the perfect balance of both and the P610 steps up its game more so than ever. I have been using the app and the wifi to transfer the pics from my camera to my phone for easy posting on Facebook and it works wonderfully. My only disappointment there was with my tablet and that is probably more the fault of Microsoft which does not interact with the app than Nikon's fault. I just wish it was available to me for my tablet as well. The zoom on this camera is amazing. I had thee 42x before and the 60 is blowing it away. I took a pic of an airplane flying high in the clouds and you can actually see the carrier!

First off, this camera's size is great for travel or just if you don't want to carry around a lot everywhere. It can easily be mistaken for a small DSLR camera. The photo quality is GREAT. The zoom is GREAT. I use it for amateur photo shoots (of people), to take pictures of nature, even sports! If you use the right settings, this camera is great for sports considering the zoom. It's easy to freeze the moment completely and you will get many crisp pictures (search YouTube for how to take sport pictures) Overall, this has exceeded my expectations. I'm a very novice photographer and this was my first real camera purchase; I couldn't be happier

This camera was purchased to lighten what I carry when I travel. It appears from what I read that it would do everything that my Canon T6i did but certainly with less weight & size. While I am pleased the both the weight & size at the same time that it gives me the zoom capabilities of my Canon, I am finding that it doesn't react in small way as my Canon. There doesn't seem to be an auto rotate feature nor can I find anywhere in the menu where I can set that feature. Also I find when shooting in Sport Scene, I cannot tell what or how many shots I am taking. I have also had issues with trying to focus on small objects such as a spider in a web. I finally took the spider photo with my phone. I have read the operation book on the camera and it certainly leaves a great deal unsaid. Would I recommend this camera, the answer would be yes & no. If you are looking for a camera that is light weight with a very good zoom, then yes, however, if you want better features for shooting Sports or close focusing, then no.

I bought this camera before taking a trip to Israel/the Holy Land. I already had a Coolpix camera but the zoom was only 24x. I took over 2000 pictures and many were in low light situations or from a distance. I was very happy with the quality in both cases. The ease of the point and shoot made it easy to take pictures rapidly. Will give my other Nikon Coolpix to my son.

This is my first Nikon. I am happy with it for the most part. My battery cover keeps popping open- don't know if I have a defective camera or it's poorly designed where I bump it and it opens. I was told the moon setting is awesome, but it just fuzzed my pix. With the stronger zoom, I have to be farther away from everything, even on the close ups, you can't get too close! So I have to take the picture and crop it. I'm not sure that I like it better than my Canon but it does take clear, sharp pix.

This is my second Nikon camera. I have used cameras for years but it was not until I received, as a gift, my first Nikon camera that I became really interested in photography. I began taking photos of my flowers and the birds that visited my birdfeeders. I enjoyed my new hobby. However, I was never able to get my photos to come out exactly like I wanted them to. I finally decided that it was time to purchase a Nikon camera with more advanced options and a greater zoom. After reading reviews online and talking with the knowledgeable salesman at Best Buy, I decided that this Nikon was the camera I needed. I have only used it a month but I love it. I learn something new every time that I use it. I am so thankful that the salesman at Best Buy knew which camera would be the one that would meet my expectations. I will never shop any other store for a camera but Best Buy. They were so helpful and patient as I asked question after question. I highly recommend Best Buy to anyone shopping for a camera because they will assist you in finding the camera that will do exactly what you want it to do and in the price range that you need. I have a camera that can zoom to 60x, do all sorts of effects and produces excellent photographs. I am one "happy camper".
