NIKON D5300--- I'm stunned by the quality. I'm addicted to this camera. OMG I can't believe I got it for $599. It has WiFi, GPS, 24MP, Foldable viewfinder with free latest AF-P 70-300mm Lens included!!!! It this even possible??. It was such steal deal. Keeping the deal aside, compared to canon, Nikon always wins in every way. Just got for it. Happy clicking!! Thank you best buy!
Con: Camera case doesn't come with it.

I started out with a Nikon 3100. It was a good camera but I wanted more features. The 5300 had 2 lens with it. The 18-55 had stabilation which is great. It also had a 70-300mm. Extra mm to reach out and get the shot. I have enjoyed the 5300 and it produces great photos.

There are a lot of features that takes a while to learn from but as soon as you start using them you discovered that your limit is in your mind to create great pictures, it is just a excellent tool that put your ideas on an image.

Best Camera For The Money

I purchased this while it was still on sale for $599.99...that included both lenses and a Sandisk Extreme Pro 32GB card. I checked the prices of the lenses alone and found that if you purchased the lenses separately it would be the close to the price of this kit.
I am coming from a point and shoot superzoom so this was a big step up for me.
I had tried two or three m4rd cameras in the past but I was never satisfied with the low light results. I've found that I can take nice low light photos with this camera after a bit of practice.
The only negative to me is the menu navigation. To me it's a bit clunky...especially when changing some of the settings like ISO on the fly. But it's not enough to knock off a star.
I've not used the wireless functions yet, but the GPS does work well after you download the agps file from the Nikon website and then update it. After that it locks on within seconds...and stays locked on while you're using the camera. It does take a bit longer to lock on when indoors but that's to be expected.
I took the advice of a friend that's used a DSLR for years and set the camera to fully manual. It took a few hit and misses but after a couple of days I was able to take some decent pictures...and now after 3 weeks I'm able to take very good pictures on a regular basis.
If you are wanting to move up from a point and shoot to something better, and you're willing to take some time to learn how to use the manual settings, then I highly recommend this camera.

Needed to upgrade so I looked around and found this package for a good price. I am a amateur photographer looking for a good intermediate camera to have with me in the car. The camera is well worth the price with the package. This camera was introduced a few years back but has all the features of the newer ones. The pictures quality is great. There are many features to use. You can set for automatic, scenes and of course manual. It is a great camera for beginners and amateurs. I would recommend this camera.

It's a good camera for the price. If you check the specs, it's basically the same as a d5500 except without the touch screen and the same as the new d5600 except without the snapbridge. But it also has built in gps, which the other 2 do not have. I guess you have to choose what is important to you. Also, for the price, you get an extra lens compared to the 2 newer models.

Let me just say, this is a great camera. Its basic enough to use as a point and shoot, yet has plenty of advanced features when you are ready for them. On sale this camera can be had for the same price as the 3400 which is a steal. You may be questioning the need for the swivel LCD screen, but it does come in handy while on the tripod or for video. The main limiting factor is the kit lens that comes with it. For another $200 you can pick up the 35mm prime lens and take much better pictures.

This camera kit provides everything you need to compose - and take - great photographs. The learning curve can be challenging because of the "reverse thinking" imposed by the industry when applying light and field of focus considerations for your photo composition (a smaller f-stop equals more light admitted, etc). Despite this challenge, there are numerous outside sources to help work your way through these learning challenges.
The kit provides you the main components (the camera body and two lenses that will address most of your standard picture needs), but it does not include a number of smaller peripherals that you will need to consider to complete your camera package (a carrying case, any filters desired, sunshades, etc.). You will also want to consider two additional items to complete your package. 1) Do you need a true macro lens, and 2) Will you need an external flash?
While the screen rotates to provide multiple viewing angles, the one weakness is that the screen is not a touchscreen, so shifting apertures, ISO, and shutter speed are slower than I would like for "on-the-fly" changes between photos.
Overall, a excellent price on a very solid camera and lens kit.

My wife had been looking to upgrade her Nikon D60 and looking at all the reviews for this camera she decided this one had the most opportunity for advancement in her photography. She has loved learning the new camera and it was a great price. It's very user friend and she found lots of tutorials and help online including on Facebook. Thank you!

I had the Nikon 3100 and I bought the 5300 to get more features. I have gotten great results . Still a lot to learn. I like the flip around screen. Much better ISO then the 3100. I got this on the Black Friday ad.. Great price..Can't wait to use the 70-300 lens..

I had been looking for a DSLR for quite some time. I am more of a Canon fan due to their lenses. However, I found that in this price range, the Nikon has much higher resolution. The D5300 has many features usually found on higher end pro models.
I don't see myself using the GPS feature much, but I did find the WiFi feature to be useful. With it, you can transfer images to your phone, edit, and post or share right away.
I am very pleased with the performance of the body and lenses.
Unfortunately, it does have some focusing issues in dark scenarios even in the night mode.
I haven't shot any video yet, but looking forward to using it for a YouTube series.
Definitely recommend this kit.
