    Worth the money $ but have patience!

    My computer was giving me pop-ups that were causing issues, it was running very slow and my machine was becoming 25% fragmented in two-three days. All stressful things to someone who depends on it for their work. I searched the Best Buy computer tune up and after reading the price, reviews, etc. purchased it. I had my one day off, so wanted to take this order number, activation number and get it looked at as soon as possible. It took two hours and six sales associates to get this resolved. It seems that they can redeem it if you purchase it and want to use it in the future, but not if you want if done right after purchasing. Each associate wanted the same information, some wanted me to purchase it and I had to maintain composure and tell them it was already bought and I needed the Geek Squad code to get it on their agenda to fix. It took the sixth associate to finally say that he would stay with me till a Geek Squad person started the tuneup. That all said, the final results were wonderful! My machine runs very smooth, the messages, pop ups have stopped and in two weeks it has not needed any defragging. So it was totally worthwhile for me. Very worth the $50.00. The downside is a person with less patience could become very irritated over the service. It was not the attitude of the sales associate, each one was very pleasant. My only criticism would be that two of them (33%) did not speak clear English. I am pleased that they were apparently bilingual, but not good for people who are only English speaking. This is a company situation and I would encourage them to only put people in this position who can do any language (even the native one associated with the US) in a clear, easy to understand voice. If you have patience this could be a great service. Stick to your guns! A sales associate might not be actively listening and want to sell you something you already purchased (see other reviews for examples of this).

    Persistent Effort

    The people I dealt with over the phone were kind, patient and persistent in resolving the difficulties I was having. They helped me to finish setting up the computer and connecting to the printer. For some reason the Wi-Fi on my end kept going down, but they stuck with it and resolved the problems

    my laptop was running slow. i contacte the geek squad for a tune up. the fix was good, but not good enough, so the geek suggested i go to the store for an up grade. the geek at desk went over my computer and suggest an upgrade, but went in the back to check with the tech geek. the tech geek said the upgrade would work, but not really acomplish what i wanted, because my laptop was old and did not have enough capacity to get me what i wanted. so i went to the computer sales dept. the slsmn was very helpful and explained how i could get what i need. the next sale, i will be buying a computer from best buy

    No wait times, at least for me. I was glad I didn’t have to do anything over the phone. They’re quick but not really informative, I had to keep asking what’s wrong with it. At the end of the day, the issue was fixed so I’m okay with it. I could see everything they were doing so I definitely trust it. I would recommend, and I’d use the service again too.

    My problem this time was kind of complicated, and I didn't really understand what had happened to cause it. The service person was very patient and took some time to be satisfied with his recovery. When I got my computer back, everything was working well, and I was very satisfied with the result. I do not have good skills at my age, and depend on Geek Squad often, and am always pleased.

    Geek Squad aided an old fellow that needed help!

    The agent helped me though installing my software I had purchased and I had him review and tune up my HP Desktop. I gave him access to me PC and I was told he would call me back when the process was finished. When to process was completed he called be back and gave me a report as to what was done and that there was no malware or viruses detected. After this tune up; the speed and response was greatly improved. I was very satisfied with the overall process and will do it again as needed. The agent was very polite, knowledgeable and helpful.

    A business I deal with told me I probably had a malware/virus. I had Geek squad do a Tuneup/Check. They removed unneeded programs, Installed latest versions of Java, Adobe, Webroot. They found no virus. Glad I did this. I will get them to do this every 6 months. A good deal for $39.99.

    Tech Support Helpful-1.5 hrs to redeem service

    Tech support was helpful but it took nearly 1.6 hours for them to a)find my code after attempting to redeem it 3 days after purchase. I was transferred to their "account management" line and they said they saw "my purchase but needed to find someone in tech support who could work with me in redeeming this code/getting the service I paid for." Kind of ridiculous it took me almost 2 hours just to get someone on the line who could start the service I had purchased. It would've been better if I just went to the store and left my computer with them like I had the last time. As others have said above, if you have the time and patience to wait around on the phone for 1-2 hours, then this is a worthy service but my time is valuable to me and there are other things I'd rather be doing than waiting around to redeem a purchase I'd already completed days ago.

    Geek Squad Brought My Laptop Back to Life!

    I woke up to find my computer malfunctioning -- a fancy way to say it wasn't working! Not being of the "tech generation," I was beside myself. I immediately called Geek Squad, and spoke to a young woman who tried her best to help me bring it back to life. Her diagnosis was that it had crashed, and would likely need additional help. She mentioned the need for a remote clean-up, but since I couldn't even get online, that wasn't an option. She then advised that I shut the computer off and let it rest for a while, then try to get online again later. If I could, she advised that I call the Geek Squad again. (In the meantime, she set me up with an in-person appointment at my local Best Buy for later in the day just to be on the safe side.) I did, and it worked! It was operating at a snail's pace, but operating nonetheless. I called the Geek Squad back, and got a truly delightful young man who went over the notes of my previous call with me. We tried a couple of things, but no luck. He, too advised the remote clean-up, and I decided to go for it. Once he got all my information, he connected me with a remote tech, with whom I didn't directly speak but communicated with via text. He easily performed the clean-up -- much more quickly than I had anticipated -- and sent me on my way. So far, so good, although I do believe I have to consider installing more memory in my computer to have it run even more smoothly. All three techs were professional, patient, and a delight to work with. I was so relieved by the outcome, and continue to send them many thanks for their help!
